DWTS professionals in Disney X-mas Parade

Posted By: admin On: December 26, 2007 Comments: ( 0 )

This is the video of them practicing for the Disney Christmas parade today. They are all dressed in their outfits and doing everything that we saw them do today. I don’t have video of the actual Christmas parade - yet, but it is coming. So, right now just enjoy them practicing  - this is the real deal, just not polished like we saw today. It features - Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough, Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke, Kym Johnson and Joey Fatone, and Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas.  You can also see Derek Hough, Tony Dovolani, Edyta and hubby Alec Mazo in the background also dancing.

You can see that Mark still isn’t recovered from his shoulder injury. His left arm is useless, but he still looks good regardless. Helio - not really digging his yellow pants, but he is still cute as can be. Joey and Kym as well as Drew and Cheryl still have it going on. It was a great opening to the show.

Cheryl Burke misses opening night of DWTS Tour

Cheryl Burke

Cheryl Burke, 23 year old professional dancer who helped Emmitt Smith and Drew Lachey win Dancing with the Stars had severe abdominal pains during final practice before the tour opened in Seattle. At the hospital, they diagnosed her as a possible appendicitis. Cheryl flew home to get a second opinion.

Good thing she did because she didn’t suffer from appendicitis and has been cleared to rejoin the tour after missing 2 nights.  It isn’t known what was bothering Burke and no information has been released.

Louis Van Amstel another DWTS professional who has been hiatus since his stint with Monique Coleman is the chereographer for the tour and is very happy to hear that Cheryl will be back.

“Cheryl can’t be gone for more than a week. I won’t let her!” the panicking pro exclaimed, probably only half-joking.

Karina Smirnoff stepped in for Cheryl and danced with Drew Lachey.  Apparently things didn’t go so hot opening night.  “We had a couple of moments when we ran onto the floor at the wrong time, in the wrong place, in the wrong direction,” Smirnoff said Wednesday. “But that won’t happen tonight.” Smirnoff was referring to Thursday night where the show had to go on again without Burke.

Burke will be back dancing with Lachey on Friday’s show and will be on the rest of the tour.

Helio hanging up his dancing shoes

Helio Castroneves pictured alongside the Mirrorball Trophy and the Indy 500 Borg-Warner Trophy

Looks like 2 time Indy 500 Champion, Helio Castroneves will hang up his dancing shoes once the Dancing with the Stars tour wraps up.

“The career of dancing is going to stop right after the tour is over,” Castroneves told IndyStar.com.  “Right now, I think I’m going to put my money on racing.  I want that Indy (victory) a third time.  I know I can do it.”

On Tuesday, December 11, Helio Castroneves returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to get his picture taken with both trophies - the Dancing with the Stars Mirrorball Trophy and the Indy 500 Borg-Warner Trophy.

“I like this one,” he said, referring to the Dancing with the Stars trophy.  He then turned to Borg-Warner and added, “I like this one, too, because it’s a little bigger.”

Dang, that was quite the trip to get a picture taken.  Indy has been good to Helio and thus, he is good to us (Yep, I’m from Indiana) by always doing interviews, press, etc.  It was only fitting for him to come back with the Mirrorball Trophy in hand to do some more press.

For him, winning DWTS was quite an achievement and took a lot of practice even on dances he didn’t really enjoy.

“I did not enjoy [dancing Jive].  It was very tough, it was a lot of little things that you have to be a professional to know,” he said.  He also did not like dancing rhumba because it calls for some acting, and “apparently, I’m not a very good actor.”

Helio although boasts about his supporters still gets some teasing from his peers and teammates.  “Mostly everybody’s been very supporting…  I mean you joke around, you know, but they say, ‘What about sequins on your race suit?’ And I say, ‘No, maybe I’ll put them on the helmet. Maybe it’ll flash a little bit more,’” Helio Castroneves told IndyStar.com.  “It’s all good and I’m very happy they were able to support me.”

Look for Helio and Julianne to perform at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis when they join the Dancing with the Stars tour on January 18. If anyone needs tickets - hit me up - I have a few.

Other confirmed dates for Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough are as follows:
Indianapolis (Jan. 18), Nashville (Jan. 19), Tampa (Jan. 21), Jacksonville (Jan. 22), Fort Lauderdale (Jan. 23), Providence (Feb. 9) and Philadelphia (Feb. 10).

Dancing with the Stars Season 6

Posted By: admin On: December 16, 2007 Comments: ( 2 )

The new season of Dancing with the Stars - season 6 will debut on ABC on Monday, March 17.  Apparently, due to the writer’s strike, there will be a lack of scripted shows.  ABC plans to run Dancing with the Stars and the Bachelor season 12.

Dancing with the Stars will air for 90 minutes on Monday with a results show following on Tuesday nights.  Pretty much the same format that we saw for this season.

If you are like me you can’t wait for the new season. I was going through withdrawals the first Monday that came after the finale. What was I to blog about?  It is good to know that Season 6 will be here before we know it.  And, if you are wondering who the cast will be - well that hasn’t been determined yet so stay tuned. We’ll have the scoop first thing - so keep checking back here for updates.

New interview with Helio Castroneves

Helio and Julianne Dancing at the Pacers game in Indianapolis

Full article found here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/richard_deitsch/12/04/helio.qa/

Helio considers himself a champion not only in racing, but dancing.  When asked if beating Marie Osmond feels better than beating Dario Franchitti, Helio responds that it is different, but it does give him a sweet taste in his mouth.  Which one, Helio? Beating Marie or Dario? I think beating Marie would taste sweeter because then you can wipe that smug “I’m gonna win this on popularity alone” smile right off her face.  He sure did that too.

Helio was serious when he said that his Mirrorball Trophy was going right between his 2 Indy 500 Trophys.  He says when he looks at them he will know that those are two things he put his heart and soul into.  Awww…he also mentions that he will be using his new found fame on starting more business ventures such as car dealerships and will rely on mentor and coach Roger Penske who Helio refers to the King of Dealerships. Helio also has franchises in Brazil - some car dealerships and Burger Kings.

When asked why he wanted to do Dancing with the Stars, Helio responded with his friend Apolo Anton Ohno encouraged him to do stating it was fun - hard work, but still fun.  Helio then had to get permission from his team, but permission came quickly since it was a positive family show. Helio thought the only downside was if he was a bad dancer and getting voted off first.  I think it is kind of ironic how his friend Apolo Anton Ohno urged him to do it and they both were paired up with the same partner.  Were strings pulled to see that Helio was paired with Julianne or was it the luck of the draw?

Helio said he isn’t really being followed that much by paparazzi, but that people recognize him on the streets and tell him congratulations.  He did mention that he hasn’t been to his house in Miami for quite some time, but that his secretary mentioned that people have been hanging out by his house.  Helio said that’d be interesting, but stated that if people came by he’d invite them in giving them bread and juice. Awww…don’t we just love Helio?

When asked about Mark Cuban as a dancer - Helio thought he was going to be horrible, but that he surprised them all.  Helio’s most famous person in his phone is Wayne Newton. LOL! Wayne is THAT famous? I beg to differ. He did go to Las Vegas and had lunch with Wayne at Wayne’s house.

When asked why Brazlians are so happy Helio responded with “It must be the sun and that Brazilians are loose (whatever that means - maybe laid back?) and they are really tight with their families which keeps them happy.

Helio states he wants to “pretend” to be single for now and that the breakup was upsetting, but that life is full of surprises. He is going to enjoy being a bachelor and whatever happens in the future - happens.

When asked about his teammates and their support, Helio stated that he got calls from Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Mark Martin. Helio said that Roger Penske was his biggest supporter calling him every Tuesday to lend his support and find out what happened.

When asked about Julianne, Helio mentioned they had the same personality - very fun and friendly. He mentioned that they both love what they do and are very determined people. He mentioned that their relationship wasn’t a “sea of flowers” and that sometimes they had to sit down and talk serious, but that it was all good for their relationship to improve - that they were a team.

When asked about Julianne’s age only being 19 - Helio said that on the dance floor there really wasn’t any room for discussion, but that off the dance floor the age difference was noticeable in that she often times brought things to the dance floor that needed to be kept off, but Helio understood because he was 19 once.

When asked about his ever expanding fame - Helio referenced Paul Newman where Paul stated you don’t want to try everything and to know your limitations. Helio said that right now all of this is a good thing and that he will continue to enjoy his life.
