Louis Van Amstel will be on Extra tonight where he reveals some secrets. First, Priscilla Presley won’t be dancing to any Elvis songs. She stated she doesn’t want to take advantage of any Elvis fans out there. Let’s hope the DWTS producers feel the same way, Priscilla. Song choice isn’t up to you and Louis, ya know. I’m thinking the producers want to throw in Elvis music to provide even more drama.

Second, Louis didn’t know that Priscilla was Elvis’ ex. He only new her from Dallas. And before you start asking if Louis lived under a rock, remember Louis is from Holland. He did know Priscilla by Dallas as that was a show he watched all the time in Holland.

Third, Louis was tricked by the shows producers into thinking he was paired with his celebrity crush, Angelina Jolie. He opened the envelope and on the card was written “Angelina Jolie” in which he said “You’re pranking me!” and then the producers started laughing. How mean! I can’t wait for the day for an Angelina Jolie to be on the show. That would be a fine show if Angelina was competing against Jennifer Anniston. Go Team Jennifer! We can’t stand infidelity here at starsdancingontv.com, Angelina! You should know better.

In other news, a new reality show called Here Come the Newlyweds will premier on March 2 on ABC. The show features newlyweds competing for a cash prize. Kind of like survivor meets the newlywed game, sorta. Why am I sharing this with you? Well, Tony Dovaloni (DWTS Professional Dancer) and Elena Grinenko (Has also danced on the show, but I don’t think paired with anyone) will appear on one episode. They will teach the contestants how to dance. They will perform this dance in front of our very own Carrie Ann Inaba who will judge them. Wow - nothing like doing cross show promotions, ABC! I guess if you’ve got a good thing - use it, right?

And more news, Kristi Yamaguchi and her partner Mark Ballas have been spotted practicing in Raleigh, NC which is Kristi’s hometown. Mark is trying to break Kristi of the skating habits that she has developed since skating at the age of 6. For example, in ballroom you have to lead with the heal and toe depending on the dance. In skating everything is flat footed. Also, skaters have the tendency to swing their legs out. In dance the legs need to remain together in a parallel position with no gaps.

Yamaguchi is married to Bret Hedican who travels with the Carolina Hurricanes. They are looking forward to getting to the Stanley Cup playoffs. The biggest challenge for Kristi and Bret is what happens to their children while she is in LA for the show and while he is traveling with the Hurricanes. Plans are still being worked out at this time. Kristi is a big fan of the show and when the offer came Christmas time she was inclined to say yes. Bret is being the good husband stating that Kristi has been good to him in that she has sacrificed a lot for his career. He feels it is now his turn to do so.

Ballas and Yamaguchi feel that their biggest threats are R&B singer Mario as well as Tony Award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur. Guess that means they are confident in themselves. They should be as Krisit is the favorite to win so far.

Right now Mark and Kristi are on their way to LA to start shooting the title shots of Dancing with the Stars. I think that means the promo photos and also the opening of Dancing with the Stars where they show each couple at the beginning along with their names. Can’t wait for that. I’ve been dying to see promotional photos of the couples for weeks now. I will post them here when I get them so stay tuned (I know I’ve been saying that for weeks, but it is true). And, the show will be here before you know it.

Early favorites among Dancing’s contestants

Well polls have been done (not here, but on the web) and gambling sites have listed their odds for the winner of Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars. Can you guess who is the early favorite just based on occupation?

Well, gambling odds favor Kristi Yamaguchi with odds of 2-1. Kristi is paired with Mark Ballas this season. My thoughts on Kristi are this - I don’t think she’ll have any problems with ballroom and looking elegant.  I think Latin will be tough for her. She seems pretty shy and modest. Latin is all about being raunchy and mega hip action. I think people are giving her way too much credit. People are also saying that having Kristi in the competition is like having “Mariah Carey compete on American Idol.” I couldn’t disagree more.

R&B singer Mario is also favored. He’s paired with Karina Smirnoff. He’s listed at odds of 5-2. Other favorites are Shannon Elizabeth and Monica Seles with 6-1 odds.

Getting off of odds - in a popularity poll Kristi Yamaguchi won hands down and among the guys Jason Taylor. Other popular guys: Cristian de la Fuente and Mario.  Unpopular guys were Penn Jillette, Adam Carolla, and Steve Guttenberg.

In the popularity poll, Kristi Yamaguchi once again came out on top and was the favorite female followed by Priscilla Presley and Shannon Elizabeth.

Oh in case you didn’t know - 2 celebrities will be kicked off in week 1 of Dancing with the Stars. That in some ways infuriates me because it means the season is shortened plus it doesn’t allow us to see the potential of the 2nd celebrity voted out. Why mess with the format that everyone already has fallen in love with? It reminds me of another popular reality show that has turned NASTY and SLEAZY. Can you guess which show I am referring to? None other than Big Brother. Ugh - visit www.bigbrotherdaily.com if you are curious about the sleazy happenings in the BB house this season. I am looking forward to this couple crap being over with and fast. Again, why mess with the format when it just works? I think BB is blinded by having twists and so focused on their motto “expect the unexpected” that they are forgetting that the loyal fans just love the bare bones Big Brother.

Anyways off my Big Brother soap box. Dancing with the Stars premiers Monday, March 17th at 8 pm/7 Central on ABC. Can’t wait for that! Oh, and I’m still waiting for those press photos of the couples. Once I get them I’ll post them right here for you.

Dancing with the Stars on Oprah

Yep, Dancing with the Stars has hit Oprah. Is it one of Oprahs favorite things? Seems like it. It opens with the crowd roaring and her set has been transformed into a ballroom. We see clips from all seasons and then get to see all the champions: Kelly Monaco, Drew Lachey, Emmitt Smith, and Helio Castroneves. Where’s Apolo Anton Ohno? Boo! He’s MIA.

Tom Bergeron is there and he is sitting at a cocktail table with Oprah drinking some Champagne. Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno are ther as well at the judges table. Poor Len is left in the dust. LOL! Bruno is excited to be on the Oprah show.

First up - Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough. We see them backstage and said they are excited and nervous. Helio was worried that Oprah won’t understand him. LOL! They are practicing the yellow banana dance and he got a “free kiss on the practice. We normally don’t do that.” Julianne grabbed his face and kissed him and said it was for the camera. They dance the Cha Cha Cha on the Oprah Show in the red outfits. This is the same dance they did on the tour as well. They dance to Rollercoaster by Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Julianne has hair extensions in as it is rather long. They finish and the crowd just roars and is on their feet.

Oprah asks “Is it true you’ve never taken a dance lesson before this?” He said “It is true. It was the first time ever in my life I was only thinking about dancing. It was intense and a lot of hard work.” Julianne believed in him the minute she saw him. She said they had a rough spot in the middle of the season, but they worked through it and here he is.

Oprah asks is it true that they are dating - They both said it isn’t true. Julianne said Helio and her are just friends. She said that a lot of people want them to be together more than she wants to be with him. LOL! She mentioned it was the same with Apolo too and again said that her and Helio are just good friends.  It was pretty cute and they both seemed to be telling the truth - not stammering around or dancing around the issue. No pun intended.

Oprah asks Tom why people are so obsessed with this show - he said it is a family show and it is such a fun show to watch. Carrie Ann said it is about watching people that we look up to doing something different - watching them put themselves out there.

Next up was Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke - Drew said he was intimidated with being on Oprah. He said him and Cheryl have a relationship built on bickering. hehe! They are doing their “signature dance” - their freestyle - the Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy dance. They did this on the tour too (not this season’s tour, but last). The crowd again was on their feet. Oprah shouted “Love it Love it Love it”. Cheryl Burke looked amazing showing her stuff and tummy. She looked HOT!

Oprah said “So, I heard you didn’t think you and Drew didn’t have a chance”. Cheryl said he didn’t want to go full out. She said he ended up giving her all that he had and that was when she knew.

Derek Hough was outside some at-home-viewer Mom who was at her dance class. He suprised her and her face was complete and utter shock. Derek hugs her and she is embarrassed and shocked. The class claps for her. Derek was there to transform her into a ballroom superstar.  They will train for a bit and then dance on Oprah. OMG! I wish that was me.

Kelly Monaco was up next dancing again with Alec Mazo. It has been 3 years since she danced on DWTS. She said her feet hurt, her palms are sweaty, has a knot in her throat, and is anxiety ridden. Alec asks if it was him. She said no that she completely trusts him. They are both in black and then Alex rips it off of her to reveal a blue sparkly number. She looks a bit rusty, but still cute as ever. Her hair hair is much lighter now. She can still shake her hips that is for sure.  Alex spins her and lifts her all over the floor. Kelly said her knees were still shaking even after the dance was over.

Oprah asks if her muscles stil remember the dancing and Kelly said no way. Tom points out that Kelly is the only woman to win. Oprah said Alec was so fluid and then she said sexy. I hope it makes Alec feel good that he made someone a champion. He hasn’t had much luck since and he isn’t on this season either. I’m hoping we’ll see him in some group dances and dancing with his wife, Edyta.

Next up is Emmitt Smith who took the championship with Cheryl Burke. We got to see him practice with Cheryl - he mentioned he was real nervous. They only got to practice for 24 hours before the Oprah show. Cheryl  is sick with the flu so she can barely talk. They dance the Mambo and are decked out in red. Emmitt still has it and can shake his stuff. They did this dance on the show too. It seemed rather slow this time around and Cheryl did dance around him some, but all is forgiven. He’s been out of the dancing game for a year and a half now. Oprah was on her feet though saying it was excellent reminding us that they only had 24 hours to practice.

Emmitt told the producers that Dancing with the Stars changed his life. He said people young and old told him how much they appreciated what him and Cheryl did on the dance floor. His wife was in the audience and she is so petite and cute. His wife said “Cheryl hooked you up. I want a little bit of that.” Emmitt said he didn’t want to teach his wife so that they don’t butt heads. LOL! Carrie Ann said that Emmitt made it ok for a big man to dance. Oprah asked him what his fellow NFL’ers say. Emmitt said “Tim Brown said Noooooo! You’re gonna mess with your legacy.” He said everyone was really quiet until he got to the finals. Then he started getting phone calls from everyone saying Congrats!

Cheryl said “You can’t get anymore manly than Emmitt Smith!” To which Drew took offense and started to walk off..in a joking manner. Cheryl said “Aww..you’re my first!” It was all in fun…and really cute.

We’re baaaack from commercial and we see Derek practicing with the at-home-viewer. Again, I’m soooo jealous. Tom announces them and they will be dancing the mambo. They are doing the same dance that he did was Jennie. She is a little stiff, but who wouldn’t be. They had some nice tricks in it and she had a nice makeover. Her hubby was in the audience cheering her on. She had tears in her eyes and frankly so did I. It is a dream come true for a lot of us.

Oprah asked her if she just had a baby 15 months ago and she said yes. Boy, she looks stunning. Oprah asks her what has then been like for you. She said it was incredible and very overwhelming. Overwhelming indeed!

Oprah announced the new stars and we get a first hand look at seeing these people live. Oprah asks Priscilla “So you’ve been wanting to appear every since you saw the show?” Priscilla referenced what others have done on the show and that it is about the journey. Oprah asked Marlee the same thing and she responded with ”I use my hands and my body when I speak everyday…knowing what dancers do, we do the same thing. It is like learning a new language - being on the show.” Oprah turned her sites to hottie Jason Taylor who plays for the Miami Dolphins. He said he got tips from Emmitt Smith and spoke to Jerry rice and Helio. He is a lot nervous. LOL!

Oprah asks Mario if he has had dance experience and he responded with yes. He said it was a great opportunity and is excited. Penn hasn’t even seen the show and admits that by watching the clips - he thinks he made a horrible mistake. He didn’t know there would be that much dancing - but said look at me, Oprah, I am born to dance. He’s funny!

Kristy said she is afraid to face the judges. She isn’t used to direct feedback from the judges and is nervous. Oprah asks Steve if he is out of his league. Steve said he was told he was doing the bachelor…but then said that he was thrilled and it will be so much fun that it was his Mom’s favorite show. He said that everyone gets along so well and it feels like a real group thing.  Penn then said “Guttenberg you are going down!” It was cute. I didn’t realize how funny Penn is.

Anyways that is my take on the Dancing with the Stars Champions appearing on the Oprah show. It was nice to see the champions dance again. I did miss Apolo though and wished he could have been there. All and all it was a very fun hour and I am sooo in the mood for Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars.

Breaking News: Celebrity Pairings Leaked on Dancing

Ok, I’m being a bit dramatic - it wasn’t technically leaked. ABC did a press release of who is paired with who. I had to make the title dramatic, ya know. Here’s the celebrity pairings in case you were interested and I will put my comments after it.

!!Tornado Taz meets Beautiful Tortoise?!! We already know Louis Van Amstel is paired with Priscilla Presley. As I stated in my last blog post entitled Priscilla Presley paired up with Louis Van Amstel Like I said before it is good to see Louis back.  He hasn’t been a celebrity partner since he was partnered with Monique Coleman on season 3. He has still been dancing though appearing on some of the results shows and is the chief tour choreographer. I stated that Louis the fastest dancer of em all is paired with the oldest female in the cast. Will he slow it down for the 62 year old celebrity or expect her to speed it up?

!!SHOCKER!!! Two time winner and defending champ, Julianne Hough is paired with Adam Carolla !!END SHOCKER!! - this should be a fun pairing. Julianne is wild, sassy, and wacky, and Adam well he is just plain funny. He has very dry humor so I can see these 2 having lots of fun together. I doubt anyone will think her and Adam are a couple though after all this is over with. hehe! Good for news for Julianne. Perhaps she put in a request to have Adam as her partner - he’s not short, petite and cute rather he’s tall, manly, and handsome in a quirky kind of way. The Julianne Hough type doesn’t fit him at all and perhaps that is a good thing for her love life.

!!Too Hot to Trot Couple!! Two time winner, Cheryl Burke is paired with hottie Cristin De La Fuente. Wow, these two will be beautiful to look at. I bet Cheryl is absolutely excited to be paired with Cristin. Plus, she is single now and can date whomever she wants. Hmm..is Cristin single? All I know is these two will be a beautiful pair. Cheryl is stunning in person even more so than she appears on TV. This could definitely be a power couple.

!!Too Cute for Words!! Derek Hough is paired with Shannon Elizabeth. I bet Derek is excited about this one. Geez - Shannon is gorgeous and well Derek is pretty cute as well. I can also see these two being a power couple. They are both young and in shape. Should be a good pairing unless Shannon has 2 left feet or something..or Derek decides to trip on her dress and fall. LOL! Sorry, Derek, I could not resist.

!!Possible Favorites!! Mark Ballas and Kristi Yamaguchi. Yep, this could be our winning couple right here. Kristi is a competitor and dances on the ice. How will she do without her skates on? One thing is for sure she knows how to be graceful so she could prove to be really strong in the ballroom arena. Latin might be tough for her as she seems modest which could prove not good when it comes to ample hip action. We’ll see.

!!I just want to dance with someone who has my boyfriend’s name couple!! Ok, I was stretching on this one, but thought it was funny when I read that Karina Smirnoff would be partnered with none other than R&B singer Mario. She has a tough time remembering her male partners names so why not be partnered with someone who has the same name as her real life boyfriend, Mario Lopez? Ok, I made all that up, but it is kind of funny. These two should be an interesting pair for sure.

!!I need to keep away from the fur couple!! Steve Guttenberg is paired up with Anna Trebunskaya. What’s with the fur comment? Well, last night Kenny Mayne was commenting on Steve’s hairy chest - that’s why. You can laugh now.

!!Let’s make this really difficult for a newcomer!! Newcomer Fabian Sanchez, 2006 world Mambo champion, will be making his first appearance on Dancing with the Stars. He wil be paired with deaf actress, Marlee Matlin. Wow, your first time on the show and you are dancing with a deaf actress. How much more difficult can it get for you? Geez - good luck Mr. Sanchez.

!!Let’s Make Magic!! Magician, Penn Jillette will team up with Season 4 runner up, Kym Johnson. No wonder she was at his show in Vegas. She was scoping out the goods. We don’t expect much from this couple, which is good as we could be in for a few suprises.

!!I’m so glad I’m rid of Marie Osmond!! Jonathon Roberts makes his 5th appearance and will be partnered with tennis star, Monica Seles. Jonathon came in 3rd with Marie last season - let’s see what he can do with Monica.

!!HOT HOT STEAMING HOT!!! Edyta Sliwinska makes her 6th appearance (the only one who has been in all 6 seasons) and is paired with HOTTIE football star, Jason Taylor. Wow — things will be on fire on the dance floor with these two. Fire department please stand by. Um yeah, these two are very beutiful people. Can’t wait to see what they can do. Each your heart out Alec Mazo (Edyta’s hubby and professional dancer - must be sitting out this season).

!!Can My Hair Get Any Bigger!! And lastly Marissa Jaret Winokur is paired with Tony Dovolani who returns for his 5th season. I don’t really have any comments on these two. I don’t know Marissa at all. All I know is she has big hair and is in Hairspray.

Priscilla Presley paired up with Louis Van Amstel

Wow the oldest female is paired up with the fastest male dancer. Both Louis and Priscilla appeared on Good Morning America. Priscilla seemed very personable more than normal. Louis and her met a couple of days ago and they did the foxtrot. Louis is so excited and he said people will be surprised.When asked about the skimpy costumes Priscilla responded with ”I’m not going there. I’m doing it for the dancing. It looks like so much fun.”

They asked Louis what it takes to be a good dancer and he responded with, ”If you are willing and want to be there, that’s great. You must willing to be open to it. Priscilla is very willing and ready to do whatever I want.” Well, Louis, we are ready to see what you and Priscilla have got.

In other news, the entire cast plus their professional partners will be on Oprah this Thursday. Be sure to tune in to see who is paired with who. I have my Tivo set and will reporting on it so if you miss it, come here for the full report.

The last 3 Stars Revealed for Dancing with the Stars

3 more stars revealed…

NFL player for the Miami Dolphins and major HOTTIE Jason Taylor. Lisa thinks he’s hot and said he is the perfect package. Kenny thinks he is overrated. A little jealous are we, Kenny?

Next up - HUGE SHOCKER - actress Shannon Elizabeth best known for appearing in American Pie. She hasn’t been around lately so perhaps dancing will revive her. She is beautiful though. Jerry had one word for her “HOT”. Kenny asked “anything else?” in which Jerry replied with “She’s Hot!”. Kenny said “Call the fire department!” LOL!

And finally Priscilla Presley. Her name speaks for itself. She is the oldest female in the competition at 62. Lisa said she is very private and she applauds her for  putting herself out there like that and taking the risk. Kenny wonders if she will have any problems with the skimpy outfits and looks at Lisa the whole time in which she abruptly asks “why are you looking at me?” LOL!

Can I say I love Kenny, Jerry and Lisa doing these skits. They are good. Kenny’s lines are priceless. Well, there ya go, folks..there’s Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars.

OMG - Cast Reveal Shocker for DWTS

OMG - they just revealed that co-host of the Man Show, Adam Carolla is going Dancing. That was a complete shocker to me. WOW! That should be hilarious. Afterall, he is a comedian.

Next announced was Olympic Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi. Lisa is glad she isn’t on this season because the competition will be tough. She points out Kristi’s a world champion and she dances on ice. Jerry thinks she will be the early favorite, but it could be her downfall. Kenny piped up (he is waring blue/green eye shadow with glitter by the way - hilarious) and said “I don’t know how can she compete wearing skates?” I about died laughing.

The third person announced - and it is an unknown to me, but the next eye candy was Cristian de la Fuente, latin heartthrob. Oohh la la. I already drooled just looking at him. He is HOT! Kenny doesn’t understand the whole latin thing. Jerry brings up Helio and Kenny said “I never understood a word he said” in reference to Helio. Girls, we have our eye candy this season and his name is Cristian.

Monica Seles was announced next. Yayy for Tennis. Monica is so cute. Lisa thinks she is one to watch. Kenny pointed out that she coined the big GRUNT in which she did during her serve in tennis. Kenny wonders if the grunt will help her in latin or ballroom. LOL!

Next announced was R&B singer, Mario. Kenny couldn’t believe he could come back for another season (referring to Mario Lopez). Lisa told him to drop the Lopez this guy is a major talent and can dance hip/hop. Jerry said just because you can dance hip/hop doesn’t mean you’ll do well referring to Masta’ P and Sabrina Bryan.

Actor Steve Guttenberg best known for 3 Men and a Baby. Lisa thinks his advantage will be getting into the character of the dance because of being an actor.  Kenny reviewed “footage” of him which shows major chest hair or fur according to Kenny. He thinks he won’t be able to wear revealing outfits because people will be grossed out. LOL! Don’tcha just love Kenny.

3 Stars just Revealed for Season 6

This just in - 3 stars have been revealed. Those are Marlee Matlin, Penn Jillette, and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

Kenny Mayne, Lisa Rinna and Jerry Rice did their little ESPN-ish skit and was hilarious. Lisa commented on Marlee in that she is always ready for the challenge and ready to break boundaries. They also said that it is a plus that she doesn’t have to hear Bruno’s critique - ya know, because she’s deaf.

Kenny thought Penn Jillette was Roy of Siegfried and Roy and thought it would do him some good to go dancing after such and attack. LOL! Jerry set him straight. Jerry stated Penn will need to get fit fast.

Lisa thought Marissa Jaret Winokur is a triple threat. She won a Tony award for her work in Hairspray. Kenny and Jerry thought she had a major disadvantage - her hair. She has lots of curls on her head that is for sure.

So far - there’s been no surprises. I’ll report more when it is available.

Dancing with the Stars Rumors

Rumors are floating around as we anxiously await the new stars announcement scheduled for tonight during the 2 hour season finale of Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann.  Former Dancing alums Lisa Rinna, Jerry Rice and Kenny Mayne will be letting the cat out of the bag tonight LIIIIVE as Tom Bergeron would say. He says it in that guy smiley kind of way.

Anyways, more rumors are buzzing about who will be on this season. So far no young, hot cuties have been mentioned (examples from past seasons: Apolo Anton Ohno, Helio Castroneves, Drew Lachey). These young, hot, cuties always gave us women someone to root for because they were so gosh darn cute. So far, I’ve heard of only old people and one deaf person.

Read my other post about the other DWTS cast rumors as I will only discuss new rumors in this post that have come up as of late. Professional Dancer, Kym Johnson, was in Vegas at a Penn and Teller show, which has people speculating that Penn Jillette will be one of the stars. Why not Teller? LOL!

Other rumors: Gennifer Flowers, Donny Osmond (please not another one), Steve Guttenberg, and deaf actress Marlee Matlin. The latter makes me wonder how that will happen if she can’t hear the music. Perhaps she can hear a bit which would make for an interesting season even more so when one-legged Heather Mills was on the show.

Maksim out; Louis in

Maksim Chmerkovsky won’t be back for Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars claiming he needs a break. He might be back to dance on the results show or back for season 7. Maksim said we’ll remember him whether he is there are or not. Will we, Maks? That is a pretty bold statement. But, I guess we will remember you. Ok? One thing we can look forward to if Maks won’t be back for the next season of Dancing with the Stars is that he is finishing up a fitness video with DWTS’ Cheryl Burke.

Louis Van Amstel who hasn’t been seen since Season 3 when he danced with Monique Coleman will be back this season with a celebrity partner. He announced it on his myspace blog. Don’t get too excited - he didn’t announce who his celebrity partner is. That’s because he doesn’t find out his celebrity partner until tomorrow like everyone else.
