We’ve got practice photos for Misty May-Treanor and Maksim Chmerkovskiy as well as Edyta Sliwinska and Jeff Ross. Edyta has her work cut out for her with bad boy Jeff. We’ll see if she keeps him under control. I think Misty May-Treanor and Maksim have a good shot at it if she attacks this with her gold medal winning attitude. The only problem I see for Misty is the heels - if she masters that - then she should be good. We’ll see! Well we don’t normally get these photos so quickly, but I have a great source that was able to grab these photos early. If you don’t know already Lacey was a dancer on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. She came in 4th I believe. She went on tour and was one of my favorites. She is paired with Lance Bass and only on Starsdancingontv.com will you see exclusive practice photos of Lance and Lacey. Looks like they have great chemistry already.

The Couples: Season 7

Here are the pairings for the newly announced celebs on this season of Dancing With The Stars. It looks to be a fun group with a lot of new faces, including one you might be familiar with, and one returning face that we missed last season!!

Lance Bass & Lacey Schwimmer. Lacey is known for being a finalist on Season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance. her brother, Benji Schwimmer won Season 2 of the popular Fox reality competition.

Toni Braxton & Alex Mazo. Alex is an old favorite and winner of the first season with Kelly Monaco.

Brooke Burke & Derek Hough. Derek is a big fan favorite, a great dancer with adorable good looks. Hopefully his rotten attitude from last season has dissipated.

Rocco DiSpirito & Karina Smirnoff. Karina is always great, but tends to move a little bit to the dramatic side for my tastes. I think it is funny that she keeps winding up with partners whose name ends in “O”.

Maurice Green & Cheryl Burke. Cheryl has one back to back DWTS titles. She may be headed for a third with a gold medalist who is surely light on his feet.

Kim Kardashian & Mark Ballas. Mark is the reigning champ from last season with Kristi Yamaguchi. My guess is Ms. Big Butt won’t be nearly as sweet and talented as his previous partner!!!

Cloris Leachman & Corky Ballas. Corky is the father of Mark Ballas, he made an appearance to give advice last season. I like that they are bringing in a little older professional for Ms. Leachman. It might help her score some points by working with someone who is at least a little bit in her age range.

Cody Linley & Julianne Hough. We all know Julianne Hough, she’s a star. It will be interesting to see her chemistry with someone closer to her age.

Susan Lucci & Tony Dovolani. Tony often gets the old cougars, he had Jane Seymour two season’s ago but racked up some decent scores last season with Maris Jaret Winokur.

Misty May- Treanor & Maksim Chmerkovskiy. I love that Maksim is back. We need some drama from the professionals, I hope Misty does not let him give her any crap!!

Ted McGinley & Inna Brayer. Inna is the current US Amateur 10 Dance Champion. She is also new this season. Has there been a season with this many new faces before???

Jeffery Ross & Edyta Sliwinska. Edyta is (still!!) the only professional to appear in every season of the show. I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing for her!

Warren Sapp & Kym Johnson. Poor Kym has gotten some of the worst partnersincluding Penn Jillette and Jerry Springer!! I hope Mr. Sapp can live up to the other football players and finally give her a winning season!!

Who are we missing this season? No Louis Van Amstel, that makes me sad. Also, no Anna Trebunskya or her husband Jonathan Roberts. Also missing is last season’s newbie Fabian Sanchez-I guess it was too much heat for him!!

The list of stars appearing on DWTS was announced by Tom Bergeron this morning on Good Morning America. I’m surprised more by the people who are not on the list than by those who are. As rumored, neither Tom Selleck nor Florence Henderson will appear. It looks like a good season though!! Here is the list as they were announced this morning.

1. Lance Bass-No surprise there, see my previous post.

2. Rocco DiSpirito- For foodies like me, this is a welcome addition; handsome, can cook-but can he dance?

3. Misty May-Treanor-Beijing Gold Medalist in beach volleyball. Partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy!! Watch the sparks fly!

4. Maurice Green-Track star and Sydney Gold Medalist.

5. Toni Braxton-Long rumored diva.

6. Kim Kardashian-Long rumored reality tv star. She phoned in about her foot injury and yes, she will be able to perform.

7. Cody Linley-Popular with the tween set as MIley Cyrus’ little brother on Hannah Montana. Also the youngest star to appear ever, he will be partnered with Julianne Hough. It will be the first time she is the older dancer!

8. Cloris Leachman-Wisecracking celebrity, Tom said the three second delay will be in affect! She is the oldest star to appear on the show ever!

9. Ted McGinley-Actor, famous for “jumping the shark.” The phrase refers to the ntion that if Ted appears on your show you will be cancelled very soon. Ted is paired with a brand new professional.

10. Brook Burke-TV personality who hosted “Wild On’” and “Rock Star.”

11. Jeffrey Ross-Comedian, Tom Bergeron called him the meanest man in comedy. He will dance with Edyta Sliwinska.

12. Warren Sapp-Former professional football player, partnered with Kym Johnson.

13. Yes, number thirteen!!! They added an extra spot for some high drama with SUSAN LUCCI!!! That’s big my friends…big!!

Misty May-Treanor on the short list

The excitement continues to build as we approach the big announcement of the season seven DWTS cast. The newest name on the supposed list is Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor. Misty, along with her partner Kerri Walsh took the gold in Women’s beach volleyball just a few days ago in Beijing. She and Walsh also took gold in Athens four years ago making them the only beach volleyball team to repeat as gold medalists. The duo are amazing, as a big fan of the Olympics I watched almost all of this years’ matches and am impressed with their skill and teamwork. Misty is married to Florida Marlins baseball player Matt Treanor.

I have to say that I am completely shocked that she has opted to join the cast so soon after winning the Olympics. I think it says a lot for the status of celebs that are now using DWTS as a vehicle for their careers and the success of the show. Misty May-Treanor is no D-list athlete, I wish her the best of luck!!

The Drama Returns and so does Maksim

Maksim missed out on all the fun last season so he will be back this season to spice up the dance floor. We missed you Maks, but we hope you check your cockiness and ‘tude at the door - we didn’t miss that.

Ohhhh the drama that is Dancing with the Stars - just watch and you’ll see what I mean.

Season seven begins Monday, September 22 from 8PM to 10 PM ET. A special performance will also air on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 9 PM to 11 PM, and the first results show will air on Wednesday, September 24 from, 9 PM to 10 PM.

DWTS Cast Robbed!

This is sad news. Derek Hough and Mark Ballas’ van was burglarized on August 17th outside on Minneapolis, MN. The pair and former cast mate Kristi Yamaguchi and her husband had stopped for a late lunch at Outback Steakhouse. The wost part is the celebrities were in town for a benefit to support a cancer charity, called PapaPalooza, later in the evening. Hough and Ballas’ band Almost Amy was scheduled to perform at the event.

Roseville police revealed that $12,240 worth of items including laptops, iPods, digital cameras, cell phones, and GPS units were stolen from a van which belonged to Derek Hough. Ballas and Hough were traveling in the van with three of their band mates. A second van carrying their guitars and performing gear was untouched.

The band posted this message on their MySpace page:

Our van was broken into in Minneapolis!! $5000.00 REWARD offered to anyone with information leading to the return of our stuff.

Almost Amy flew into Minnesota this morning for some upcoming shows at Cancer Charities over the next week. We had a 2 hour drive ahead of us, so we decided to stop for lunch before the drive at Outback Steakhouse in Minneapolis. While inside eating our band van was broken into and they took all of our personal items… Everything from Passports and Visas, wallets, ID’s, laptops, ipods, cell phones, Emilys purse, cameras etc… We are offering a $5000.00 reward for information leading to the return of our stuff… NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!! We just want our personal items back… ABC news is airing a national news story about it… watch your local ABC station at 11pm.

Julianne Hough Returning for Season 7

Two time mirror ball trophy winner Julianne Hough will return to Dancing With The Stars for season seven. Julianne won back to back honors with season five with partner Apollo Ohno and season six partner (and my boyfriend) Helio Castroneves. This past season she got an early ticket home when funny man Adam Carolla proved to be all laughs and no rhythm. Hough did not mind being booted off because it gave her a chance to focus on her alleged music career. As a fan of country music, I can tell you she is a much better dancer than she is a singer. She’s not a bad singer, no need to write me and complain, her voice is just a little bit thin compared to her awesome dancing chops. That’s all I’m saying folks!! According to ABC she will have the chance to sing on DWTS so you can see for yourselves…I’ll probably take a potty break at that time.

Julianne’s big brother Derek Hough is also scheduled to appear on the next season. Hopefully he will be paired with someone who is a lot better dancer and a lot less whiner!!

No, it is not Lance Bass and his boy toy. Word on the street is that former super-cool singer turned reality show judge, Jewel, and her rodeo riding boyfriend, Ty Murray will appear on the upcoming season. It should provide for lots of love/hate relationship montages. We all know how much the DWTS producers love a good montage.

Ty Murray holds many titles in the Rodeo world. Currently, he is the president of the Professional Bull Riders organization. Murray won the World All-Around Rodeo Champion title seven times, (1989-1994, 1998) being the top money earner in bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding events for those years. Murray is the only man to have ever attained that many “All-Around Cowboy” titles. Additionally, Murray won the PRCA World Bull Riding Championship title in 1993 and 1998. After a knee injury and a short return to rodeo he retired in 2002.

Jewel has received three Grammy Award nominations and has sold over 27 million albums worldwide. She is well known to those of us from the early 90’s for letting her bra strap show underneath her tank top. I swear, Jewel is responsible for this being acceptable attire. She recently recorded a country album. I’ve heard one of the tracks, it is ok, much better than Jessica Simpson’s attempt a country.

Ty & Jewel were married on August 7, 2008. I hope the newlyweds can survive, the vows say ’til death do us part, but they say nothing about reality shows!

Tom Selleck fills the old man roll on DWTS

Tom Selleck has signed on for this season of Dancing With The Stars. There are a lot of news articles citing him as the former star of Magnum P.I., whatever that is. Those of us not yet in the AARP remember him as Monica Geller’s love interest for a short time on “Friends.” Chandler grew a mustache to look like him, it was very funny (sigh).

At 63, Selleck will fulfill the old man roll that has been filled in previous years by the likes of Jerry Springer and Wayne Newton. Last season this part was played by, Steve Guttenberg (aka The Gute), his co-star in the classic film “Three Men and a Baby.” I hope that next season Ted Danson will appear so that the trifecta will be complete.

Why is it that the older women are called cougars, but the older men aren’t really called anything other than older men? I think we should start calling them old panthers….
