The Dancing with the Stars Curse

First it was Jewel with her injured knees and now it is Gilles Marini. He is injured with a pulled groin..oooouuuch! Gilles, I’m not sure who you are, but a pulled groin hurts. I know. I’ve done it and I’m sure it hurts even more if you are a guy.

“It’s like you dance with a knife next to your thing,” Gilles, who played studly Dante in the Sex and the City movie, says of his injury. “It keeps stabbing me.”

Gilles visited the doctor and he is on anti-inflammatory meds which will allow him to dance on March 9.

With that said - who’s next? I’m guessing it won’t be dare devil Steve-O. If it is, his 9 lives  might expire on him. I’m not sure how much more his body can take. Speaking of Steve-O, Lacey is calling him a dark horse and said he will shock a lot of people. I’m not convinced until I see it.

So, what do you think? Who will be injured next? Will Denise break a nail? Will Edyta poke another eye out? Will Shawn Johnson kick Mark Ballas in the face as she cartwheels across the stage? One can only hope!

Jewel Injured; Cheryl Burke goes Solo

We’re already starting our injuries and the season hasn’t even begun. Jewel had to see her hubby’s knee doctor to determine what was wrong with her knees. Doctor said she has tendonitis in her knees and must start meds (steroids) pronto to bring down the swelling.

She also is required to stay off her feet for a few days and not rehearse with partner Dmitry Chaplin. Apparently Jewel and Dmitry have the Cha Cha Cha as their first dance of the season.

Jewel is concerned that she might not be able to dance at all (more negativity from Jewel?), but is trying to do what she can to pass the time like practice the dance moves in her head. She assures us that she is in it for the long haul.

In other news, Cheryl Burke shot her first solo cover for TV Guide. She is showing off her new sexy look. Apparently she lost some weight. Remember all that talk about how she put on weight and she said she didn’t really put on THAT much. Well apparently she lost some of that and is dawning a new sexy bod! She also has a new boyfriend some model beaux which is even more reason to lose weight, right?

Look for both Jewel and Cheryl in a few weeks when the new season of Dancing with the Stars begins. We can hardly wait!

Jewel’s Blog

Jewel has posted on her blogs lots and lots of mishaps with Dancing with the Stars. It seems she is giving us the glimpse of DWTS’ negative side. Does that mean Jewel is a negative person? I don’t know - you be the judge. Here are some snippets of Jewel’s DWTS mishaps….

“I have 11 blisters and tears on my feet after two days of dancing. I guess I have very soft and tender feet or something, but my dance shoes are eating my feet alive. The entire left side of my pinky toe has been torn off; it’s just gross. I hope I can keep them taped up enough to keep dancing on them. Speaking of dancing, it’s soooooo hard! I look like such a fool, I can’t even tell you.”

“I had a “Title Shoot” day where they made me wear the costumes Brooke Burke wore last year. Um, humiliating! I am no Brooke Burke, and it was pretty horrifying seeing my pale skin poured into the skimpy costume. It’s little more than underwear someone took a BeDazzler to and went crazy!”

“Speaking of awkward, before the shoot, I was put into a little room with a very nice woman. She explained to me that I would be taking my clothes off while she spray tanned me. A complete stranger! I thought the tanning bed was bad!  There I was in a stark white room with fluorescent office lights with a total stranger spray tanning my entire body with a little spray pump thingy. I wanted to DIE.”

“Next I went into hair and make up, and the make up artist (who is very good) asked if she could “clean up my eyebrows” “Sure,” I said. “Just don’t make them disappear.”
Well, the next thing I know, I look up and there is a hole in my left eyebrow! I don’t know what happened or what she was thinking, but she tweezed a hole in it and I wanted to cry. I was an orange, one eye-browed little chick singer all gussied up in an orange and yellow feathered glorified bikini. It had little feathers all over it. I looked like a slutty Big Bird, I swear to God.”

Dancing with the Stars Couples Announced

This should be called couples editions of Dancing with the Stars. We’ve got Julianne Hough and her real life boyfriend in the line up. Jewel competing against her hubby and Karina Smirnoff facing off against her fiance, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. It’s gonna be a crazy season, folks.

Before I start, I have to say that Bridget will not return this season due to a busy schedule and recovering from surgery. We wish Bridget well and hope to see her back next season. Guess that means you are stuck with me, Alyssa, your wonderful blog owner.

First off, for all those always wishing Julianne would be in a romance with her dance partner (you know who you are, Julianne and Apollo fans or Julianne and Helio fans), you get your wish. Julianne Hough is partnered with her real-life beau, Chuck Wicks. I guess the producers listened to all of you and gave you just what you wished for - a real romance with Julianne. We’ll see how well they work together because you know Julianne is all business on the dance floor. I’m shocked to even see she’s back this season because she said she wasn’t coming back so she could work on her music career. Guess she couldn’t allow someone else to partner her country boy.

Edyta Sliwinska is partnered with yet another NFL’er and another one with the last name of Taylor. How ironic is that? She’s partnered with Lawrence Taylor. Will Edyta finally pull out a win or will she poke Lawrence in the eye and take him out too?

Cheryl Burke is partnered with actor, Gilles Marini. No comment for these two because I have no idea who Gilles is.

Derek Hough will be defending his title with rapper Lil’ Kim. Wonder if Lil’ will put Derek in his place this season and now allow him to talk to her the way he talked to Brooke and Shannon Elizabeth. For those of you wondering, him and Shannon are still together.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is paired with Denise Richards. That could be some spicy stuff going on between these two OR not! Denise could be another Kim Kardashian and we know what happened there.

Jonathan Roberts is back and partnered with Go-Go’s singer Belinda Carlisle. I liked Belinda when I was a pre-teen so I’m anxious to see how she does.

Shawn Johnson is paired with Mark Ballas. I think this is a good pairing here, however, I’ve seen Shawn do her gymnastics routines and it is pretty stiff. I’ve also seen her live and still the stiffness occurs. She seems to be shy and have a hard time coming out of her shell. Mark failed in getting Kim Kardashian where she needed to be - let’s hope he has some new tricks for Shawn.

Jackass star Steve-O is partnered with Lacey Schwimmer. This was a no-brainer b/c Lacey can be pretty off the wall. Steve-O is as off the wall as one can get. Ever seen Jackass? All I know is she will need to tame his crazy self because I already know Len doesn’t like them. LOL!

Jewel is partnered with new professional Dmitry Chaplin. Fans of So You Think You Can Dance will remember Dmitry from season 2. He also has a familiar dance coach - Louis Van Amstel.

Jewel’s hubby and Rodeo star, Ty Murray is partnered with newcomer Chelsie Hightower. Chelsie was also on So You Think You Can Dance - last season to be exact. I just LOVED her on there. I’m sure she will be a great addition to DWTS.

Karina Smirnoff is partnered with Apple Co-founder and probably known more as Kathy Griffin’s ex, Steve Wozniak.

No surprise here - Tony Dovolani is partnered with Nancy O’dell.  She is Tony’s typical partner. If you don’t know what I mean, think Leeza Gibbons,  Jane Seymour, and his latest typical partner Susan Lucci. The only two times where Tony had original partners was season 2 with Stacy Keibler and season 6 with Marissa Jaret Winokur. Let’s hope he has new tricks up his sleeve for Nancy. I want to see some raunch from his partners.

Kym Johnson is partnered with comedian David Alan Grier. He’s a funny guy and for once she is partnered with someone who is not huge in stature. One thing is for sure, he’ll provide huge laughs - not sure if that will help on the dance floor, however.

Season eight of DWTS premieres March 9 on ABC.

Last Stars Revealed on Dancing with the Stars

Last 2 names revealed are…Ty Murray and Jewel who are husband and wife in real life. Interesting…

Not too excited and haven’t been since Helio Castroneves, but I do like Shawn Johnson! She’s tiny so I’m anxious to see who she will be partnered with.

Next 4 stars revealed are: Shawn Johnson, Chuck Wicks, Gilles Marini, and Denise Richards. The final five names will be revealed during Brothers and Sisters. UGH!

Posting this and will be back to post the remaining 5 names…and if you were wondering - I am caught up on my Tivo so I have to wait until they are revealed now. Damn you, ABC.

New Cast of Dancing with the Stars Revealed

ABC is doing an all night name drop tonight during their shows Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Desperate Housewives, and Brothers and Sisters. If you ask me this is a lame attempt to get us to watch their shows. Want to know what I’m doing? I’m tivoing them and fast forwarding until I get to the name drops. How you like me now, ABC?

They gave us a few hints 17 min in to Extreme Makeover - here’s the hints - a female rapper, a extreme reality star, football player, and has all access to the stars. Faces were partially revealed. Let’s just get on it with it. Geez. And here we go…

Lil’ Kim, Steve-O, Nancy O’Dell, and Lawrence Taylor were the first 4 revealed.

Moving onto Desperate Housewives teasers…

Here’s the next teasers - won gold in Beijing (Shawn Johnson?), country singer who steels hearts, Sex in the City’s #1 Style, and she’s so sexy it’s complicated…hmmm. Shawn Johnson is definitely it, but not sure on the others. I hate country music, never watched ‘Sex’ and not sure about sexy and complicated. Looks like they aren’t going to reveal them for sure until the end of the show *sigh*. Oh, just got the sexy and complicated - Denise Richards - ick! Denise is looking for 15 more minutes in the spotlight isn’t she?
