Dancing with the Stars wk. 4

Posted By: admin On: March 31, 2009 Comments: ( 1 )

They are trying to give us full drama ahead just starting tonights episode. I guess we are going to have a double elimination tomorrow. Why mess with the format where one star goes home every week is beyond me? I just hope that someone doesn’t go home that shouldn’t go home due to this format change. Tom tells us we should have double the drama - I think we’ve had enough drama already. Plus, they have to learn 2 dances this week. Seems like it is a bit early for 2 dances, but what do I know. All I want is for Steve Wozniak to go home. Is that too much to ask? I think not.

I’m not sure what Samantha is wearing, but it looks a bit tye dyed and cut up and draped together. Her hair isn’t too bad though, but what gets me is her arms. They are just too sticky and muscular. Don’t get me wrong - I would like to have my arms close to looking like that, but seriously she needs a bit more meat on them. Tom looks smashing as always. Now onto the first impressions (as the band gears up to the climax in their music)…

Lil’ Kim’s dress comes up really far on her right hip. Geez. Lawrence looks great in a pinstriped suit. Steve-O and Lacey looks like the 80’s decade just threw up all over them as they are wearing hot pink and electric blue. Steve-O is in stripes of the same colors. ICK! Gilles looks great in an all black pinstriped suit with gorgeous puple tie and I must say Cheryl looks stunning in purple lace. Chuck Wicks looks like he works in a 70’s ice cream parlor wearing an old fashioned ice cream hat. name tag with Chuck on it, an a coin catcher waist thingy. Julianne has on red and white like a picnic table cloth and looks like she belongs right there with him as the waitress. Holly Madison is all sparkly and fringy. Ty and Chelsie also look like the 80’s threw up on them, but is a little more toned down than Steve-O and Lacey. Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas have on sweatsuits and Mark is wearing nerdy glasses and a headband. LOL! Steve Wozniak looks great in all black suit and red tie. Karina is showing her belly on the right side and is in red and she almost bites it on the stairs. haha! David Alan Grier has on a tux with a white/creamy coat. Melissa is wearing pink and white polka dots and is cute as a button

Looks like it is going to be a night of tangos and 50’s sock hop - I think the technical term is the Lindy Hop if I remember right. Oh the Argentine Tango is the tango - the difference is the hold can be different. In the ballroom tango - the hold has to be consistent all throughout the dance. Ok, I never knew. In the Lindy Hop lifts are allowed so Carrie Ann can keep her pie hole shut about them.

First up doing the Lindy Hop is David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson. By the way, he has bling on his lapels. She starts by leaping into his arms and does a backflip out of them. They dance to the American Bandstand Theme Song. It was full of lots of tricks which in my opinion distracted from it and kept the movement a bit jerky and less fluid. I would have liked to see more intricate footwork in the kicks and flicks. The tricks were good though, but I think he could do so much more in my opinion. Len said it had fun, energy and they captured the flavor. He said they lost rhythm sometimes, but it wasn’t their best or their worst. Bruno said it was good to see him going for it, but they lost timing a bit in the footwork. Carrie Ann thought it was great being one of the older contestants. She loved it and thought it was great. She is obviously patronizing him due to his age. Scores were 2 7’s and an 8 from CA for a 22 out of 30.

Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough are up with the Argentine Tango. Derek doesn’t know a lot about this dance so he had to learn it with her. She is having issues with being serious and not smiling. He starts with a nice spin and stomping and she has a  serious face on. Now they are doing some fancy precise footwork. I am realy liking the intricacies of the fotwork and how they work in and out of the legs - looks very complicated and serious. They seemed pleased with it and the audience is on their feet. They wave to the crowd high up in the stands! Bruno said it was more than a tango and went into some dramatic scene about it. He called it a terrific tango and said it was terrific choreography. Lil’ looks like she is going to cry. Carrie Ann called Lil’ the real deal saying she has such drama and long lines. Len was knocked out with the choreography, but wasn’t impressed with the sensuality of it all. He described what it should be in the passion department and what he described is exactly what I saw. I don’t get it. Scores were 1 10 from Bruno, a 9 from CA, and an 8 from Len. That is the first 10 of the season. Their total score is 27 out of 30.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough have the Lindy Hop which explains their outfits. Chuck is being a wimp in practice b/c Julianne wants him to flip over her and he is scared of landing on his head as he had an accident where he landed on his head. He is going to show his goofy side tonight - that is if he doesn’t freeze. They start off by taking orders evidentally for ice cream. LOL! They’ve got really cute tricks where he flips Julianne all around and behind his back. niice! His kicks are a little hunched over, but the energy was good and they were cute! Carrie Ann says it was good this week and likes how he has fun. She wants to see him go past the edge and lose control. Len said it was competent and he needs to come up to a higher level. Bruno liked the style, but agrees with Len for once wanting the moves to be crispier. Scores were 2 7’s and an 8 from Carrie for a total of 22 out of 30.

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska have the Argentine Tango and are up next. Edyta and Lawrence are having issues. She is calling him out on looking down as she wants him to get the character down. Alec, Edyta’s hubby, comes in to show him how it is done. He seems to have it down now. We’ll see. Edyta is doing a lot of the footwork so I hope he has some more and doesn’t just stand there. He is doing lots of holds and letting Edyta dance around him. Luckily he is strong, but it didn’t even compare to Lil’ Kim and Derek. Len called this dance hard b/c of the acting and character. He said it was heavy and he looked uncomfortable. Bruno thought he was intense and called him scary - saying the character was good, but he didn’t like how he was just walking in some parts. Carrie Ann thought he exuded power, but what was lacking was the chemistry as he seemed intimidated by Edyta’s passion. Scores were 2 7’s and a 5 from Len for a 19 out of 30. A 5 Len???

Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower have the Lindy Hop. I will be anxious to see him come out of his shell and have fun. And oops - they played Steve’s taped package and stopped it and started playing Ty’s. Anyways, Chelsie apologized to Ty for her fall and he was so understanding about it faulting the dress and not her. She has him practice by himself because she is not always going to be there. They have a lot of physical moves and he is excited about that. He is super strong that is for sure. I’m anxious to see this one. Normally I can type and watch at the same time, but this was too high energy for that. I couldn’t take my eyes off them. There were tons of kicks and flicks, lots of throws, he was having fun and frankly, so was I! I LOVED IT! And again he had on his cute smile and so darn cute doing it. The audience loved it! Chelsie looks thrilled. Tom told them good job and said he is not the same guy from week 1. I totally agree. Jewel gave her hubby the thumbs up. Bruno said he was still rough around the edges, but he is coming on leaps and bounds. Carrie Ann said Ty Murray is a dancer. She said Chelsie is an incredible teacher and that this score is a good one. Len said something about his britches and said Ty Murray in a hurry - he called out the tiddly blunder, but said the routine was great! I couldn’t agree more. Scores were 2 8’s and a 9 from Carrie Ann for a total of 25 out of 30.

Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff have the Argentine Tango and I can hardly wait to see what he can do with this. Does Karina have a perm now? One minute it is all curly and the next it is straight. I can’t tell. Don’t even ask me what he was doing out in the public - he is trying to get votes. Can we say desperate? They start with a chair as their prop and I knew we were gonna hear this song. This is a popular tango song. He sits in the chair as Karina dances around him - typical. His footwork isn’t sbrupt enough although he did just have a moment and he sure is trying. The tricks were pretty good too. I say he is much better this week for sure. He actually danced. Carrie Ann loves that he is the ultimate underdog. She doesn’t mean to be cruel, but said it was rather long. She can’t find something positive to say about it. Len said well done for coming out trying to attempt a proper tango. He mentioned the improvement, but said last week was so terrible that anything would be an improvement, but well done. Bruno started off by saying we love you. Bruno said this really stunk and Steve mocked Bruno with “I’m Still Standing” where Bruno appeared in Elton’s video. See my post on that… Scores were all 4’s for a total of 12 out of 30.

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani have the Lindy Hop. I have a feeling this could be really good. They are so fun and cute in practice like a couple of kids. I love them! She starts off with a trick where she comes up between legs. She seems to be pointing her toes a bit much during the kicks and the tricks seemed dangerous at the end, but it was cute and fun! Len thinks they have the potential to go all the way. He said the last lift was a little bit sticky, but overall good job. Bruno said it was eye popping fun bursting with excitement. He thought they showed the whole spectrum of steps. Carrie Ann wanted high fives and they ran up and gave her high fives. She is impressed saying the lifts were fantastic and that the choreography from Tony was the best she’s ever seen from him. Scores were 2 10’s and a 9 from stingy Len for a total of 29 out of 30 which is the highest score so far this competition.

Holly Madison and Dmitry Chaplin have the Argentine Tango next. We see her drama with her ribs and now during her tricks. She goes to the bathroom and cries. She goes to the doctor and she has damaged the muscles around her ribs. They didn’t tell us she got some pain killers. LOL! She starts on a barstool where she can’t even keep her balance - oops. I think she forgot some steps, but she turns it around with a tricky trick and some ok footwork. It wasn’t too terrible. Bruno said it was a bad start and it kept getting worse. He wants her to drop the Barbie and bring out the vixen. Carrie Ann said she gives her credit for hanging in there and pointed out the bruises up and down her leg - ouch. She wants Dmitry to work on her strength. Len thought the routine was fantastic and liked the same trick I liked. Len can see an improvement and wants her to work on core strength for next time. Scores were 2 5’s and a 6 from Len for a total of 16 out of 30.

Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer have the Lindy Hop. I wonder if he is strong enough to do tricks in this dance. He feels overloaded because the dance is so fast. Lacey brings in a clown costume so he can get back to his circus roots. LOL! He even paints on a face. He just wants to get out there and say gosh, dang darnit - I just want to have fun. Lacey has 2 hearts on her buttocks. He does pretty well with it seems to have lost timing though. He seems to have let loose more tonight and had fun with it. Carrie Ann is wincing and says he has had such a rough road. She is starting to see him let go, but said she is always a step behind. She wants him to be a leader. Len said he didn’t go wrong and got right through it. He said timing is the big issue. Bruno said it is more hopping mad then Lindy Hop. He wants him to listen to the music and not over think it. Scores were all 5’s for a 15 out of 30. Samantha has to get a drink b/c her voice is so raspy and she is starting to sound like Steve-O. Tom keeps making fun of her. LOL!

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke have the steamy Argentine Tango and I am really looking forward to this from them. Cheryl reminds him that he is the only actor doing the tango so he needs to use his edge in getting into the character. Sexy stuff so far! He looks like Antonio Banderas. They did some sexy leg stuff and their lips were so close together it looked like they could kiss. Wow some nice kicks and flicks…fancy and the technique was awesome. The audience was owing and screaming. Cody Linley even liked it and he’s a young tike. It was hot and steamy! Great job, Gilles! The crowd loves it - and is on their feet still cheering. Len said it was fantastic how it was a mix between slow and fast, quiet and loud and he loved how they showed every element. Bruno said he was the latin lover and other things that were crazy sounding. He did like it though. Carrie Ann is blushing and she said she couldn’t tell who the celeb or the professional was. I smell some 10’s. Scores were all 10’s for a perfect 30 out of 30. Looks like Cheryl is back on top!

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas are up last with the Lindy Hop. This should be really good b/c this style seems to suit the girl in Shawn. At least I hope. It appears Shawn has on little shorts and a sports bra in blue and Mark has on red shorts and a tank top. Mark wants to put gymnatics in the routine so she takes him to the gym and makes him put on gymnast tights. She does some flips and he does somersauts. Shawn said this week she is in her comfort zone and she loves it. She starts with flips to Mark and the crowd loves it. I’m not sure Len will. I LOVED IT! I couldn’t even type b/c I just wanted to watch. So many tricks and she kept up with the steps and timing. CUTE! Bruno said it was a spectacular feast of tricks and gymnastics, but remember that she’s a good dancer as well. He wanted to see more dancing. Carrie Ann said she is so polished and that she was a bit heavy on the footwork. Len said what she did she did very well. He thought there were too many tricks and wanted to see more dancing. Scores were 2 8’s and a 9 from Bruno for a 25 out of 30.

Leaderboard:

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke 30 out of 30

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani 29 out of 30

Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough 27 out of 30

Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower 25 out of 30

I think both Steves are in trouble as well as Holly. I predict the bottom three will include them with Holly. Steve Wozniak will be leaving us tomorrow. What was all this business about learning 2 dances? I guess I misheard and I’m not about to go back and rewind the dang thing so whatever!

Holly Madison Injured and Shawn Johnson’s Stalker Arrested

Posted By: admin On: March 27, 2009 Comments: ( 1 )

Shawn Johnson’s Stalker Photo, Robert Michael O’Ryan

Well it has been quite the week on Dancing with the Stars. Apparently little Shawn Johnson has a stalker, 34 year old Robert Michael O’Ryan, and he was arrested after Tuesday nights show. He had guns in his car, pictures of Shawn, love letters, duct tape, maps, and newspaper clippings.  He said Shawn spoke to him through the TV and ESP. Can we say PSYCHO? He pleaded not guilty today to stalking and carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle. Hmmmm…. Apparently Shawn’s parents had a restraining order out on him and got it extended. He is directed to stay more than 500 yards away from Shawn, her parents, and dance partner Mark Ballas. He jumped the  studio’s fence at Tuesdays taping and said he knew Shawn and was there to meet her, but after authorities determined that wasn’t the case, the guy said he was there to meet Steve-O. He also denied knowing the guy. Like I said, he pleaded not guilty and something tells me that won’t fly in court with all the stuff he had in his car. Trial date is set for April 27 and he faces 4 years in prison.

Holly Madison in “excrutiating” pain

In other news, Holly Madision injured herself doing the Samba and now it is carrying over into this week so much so she couldn’t even attempt to do the Tango. Her side was in such “excruciating” pain that she had to stop practicing and visit the doctor. She does not have a broken rib and really nothing has been determined to be wrong with her. She is on pain meds however as she couldn’t even move. Her future on Dancing with the Stars is now in question as she is in a lot of pain. I’m sure she will be back especially if she is on pain meds. Who doesn’t like pain meds? LOL!

We’re back and we see recaps and they had to show Chelsie Hightower falling with canned gasps. Ty was so cute in the confessional talking about the fall and how he stepped on her dress and it was like a banana peel. We see Steve-O icing his ankle in the confessional. And Tom tells us that Steve Wozniak earned the lowest score in 6 seasons. I thought it was the lowest score ever so I stand corrected. Oh good Lord, Samantha’s earrings are huge! I am not sure how she doesn’t stretch her ears out with those things. Crazy. She does look pretty in black tonight.

First 4 couples that are safe are: Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke, Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas, Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff. WHAT??????????? Karina jumped up and down and screamed bloody murder and hugged Steve. UGH! I do not want him back and am little pissed off that someone will go that should have 1 more week. UGH! And ewwww, Daryl Hall and John Oats look so incredibly old.

Next 4 couples that are safe are: Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska, David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson, Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough, and Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough. No surprises here.

Cloris Leachman is baaack with Corky Ballas and they are going to show us the Lindy Hop and Argentine Tango which are our dances next week. Of course it is comical and ends with Cloris running her leg up Corky’s leg up to his “hoo hoo” and then they kiss. LOL!

Daryl Hall and John Oats are singing one of my faves - Maneater and they can’t seem to hit the high notes anymore. Our pros will be dancing to the song: Maks, Karina (decked out in red spandex onesie and black leg warmers), Dmitry, and Tony. They end doing jive moves which I would love to learn how to do and her almost kissing her fiance Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Hot stuff!

Alec Mazo and Edyta Sliwinska are dancing to “Chasing Pavement”. Edyta barely has pants on, but man does she look sexy and so does her hubby. All I know is that dance was steamin’ and the song was good too. The crowd is on their feet for it too!

Next safe couples are: Steve-O and Lacey (Lacey is absolutely shocked) and Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower. The bottom two couples are Denise Richards and Maksim Chmirkovskiy and Holly Madison and Dmitry Chaplin. Kind of funny since the girls are quite similar in their awkwardness and the men are very similar in style (always showing their chests and good at latin). This should be interesting. I hope Denise stays actually b/c I like her better than Holly.

Let the dance off begin! Up first is Holly Madison and Dmitry Chaplin. During practice last night they work on footwork, not doing a lift, and her hips. She actually doesn’t look too bad in practice, but something happens when she goes live. Here we go - see if she is any better and her foot comes off the floor again as in a lift. Her hips are better tonight more crisp, but it still wasn’t GREAT! Len thought she came out hot tonight, but there was a little mistake going into something technical he mumbled. Bruno said timing was off, but there is no doubt it was hot. Carrie Ann she loves the party atmosphere and she said she kept her foot on the ground much better (SHE DID NOT!). Scores were all 6’s for a 18 out of 30 which is one better than last night.

Next up is Denise Richards. She practices last night on (doing the entire dance better? LOL) footwork. She seemed to do better tonight and looked like she was enjoying it more, but it still wasn’t GREAT either! I have a feeling that Holly might stay although I don’t want her to. Bruno said she is much improved from last night - leaps and bounds. Tells her to treat the performance as a character the entire way through. Carrie Ann said she is good under pressure and worked on her hands and smile. Len said she proved that she deserved to stay tonight. YAYY! Scores were 2 7’s and a 6 from CA for a 20 out of 30 which is 4 points better than last night. There’s a scoring discrepancy where the judges say CA wrote down a 7 instead of a 6, yet she held up the 6 paddle and said 6. She replied with “No, I didn’t, I wrote down a 6.” There ya go, folks - scoring discrepancy over! Oh, and Tom has an earpiece that told him about the scoring discrepancy. Interesting - I did not know that.

Now the judges scores are added to the viewer votes and we will then know who goes home. Leaving us tonight is Denise Richards and Maksim Chmirkovskiy. Boo! :( So intead of Karina leaving us - yes, that should have happened, her fiance Maks is instead leaving. Boo to that and Boo to you guys who didn’t vote for Denise!

Dancing with the Stars wk. 3

Posted By: admin On: March 24, 2009 Comments: ( 1 )

Gosh, it’s Monday already? We’re back. Samantha actually looks halfway decent in a avocado colored dress. Of course she starts us off with the drama filled week of injuries, but doesn’t elaborate. Tom says that at least tonight we have all of our stars back with us. Which leads me to first impressions…

Lil’ Kim has some big knockers and is dressed in yellow showing lots o skin. Edyta looks very tan and very hot tonight showing lots of ripped tummy. Steve-O has a doo doo brown suit on with a bow tie. Gilles almost falls down the steps. Julianne Hough looks stunning tonight in silver and blue while Chuck sports a suit and tie. Holly is bopping down the stairs like a school girl in red showing lots o’ tummy. Tie and Chelsie look high class tonight. I couldn’t even see Shawn Johnson b/c Mark Ballas was walking so fast. Karina looks like she came from prison in black/white stripes with feathers at the bottom and Steve is wearing pinstripes and doesn’t look too bad. David Alan Grier looks fine no comment ‘cept where’s his suit jacket. Denise Richards is in black and has some wild strands of hair coming out the back while Maks’ shirt is wide open (Len will not be thrilled and Dmitry will probably be jealous). Melissa Rycroft looks stunning in purple showing her cute little tummy. Did I mention she’s my favorite? Everyone is looking pretty good tonight. Oh there’s Shawn - she’s in green, but I still can’t tell what she is wearing. The sound is muffled tonight - hope it isn’t my TV.

Samantha tells us that tonight we are all on the same playing field as everyone has the same amount of time to practice. Good to know, Sam. Tom reminds us of the injuries of last week. Thanks for the recap, Tom. First up is Denise Richards and Maksim Chmirkovskiy who have the Samba.

Maks thinks she is being too serious so he dresses up as a Samba Queen all in pink with a bikini top , skirt, and a big headress. Oh boy! They dance to “Take a Picture” by Filter. Their start is very rocky - looking like she can’t keep up and she is not at all graceful. She lost something out of her hair and almost stepped on it. Oh boy, I am not liking this at all - TERRIBLE! Probalby one of the worst Sambas I’ve seen. Len said the Samba is the hardest of the latin dances, but said it needed more hips, stronger core, but well done. What?? Bruno said it was so flat and cold more like a waffle than a Samba said she was going backwards. Carrie Ann agrees with Bruno and tells her to mask her emotions and to work on her arms and hands. Scores were 2 5’s and a 6 from Len for a 16 out of 30.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough have the foxtrot this week. She was really hard on him during rehearsal so we’ll see if it pays off. They dance to some country song I don’t know b/c I don’t like country music at all. I must say he did dance tonight and danced well he did. He really came out of his shell. It did lack a bit of grace as he wasn’t channeling his inner Derek at all times, but I must say he was very much improved from last week. Let’s see if the judges agree. Bruno is happy to see that Chuck is in the driver’s seat this week - balancing out each other’s performance. Carrie Ann said she thinks he is really showing us that he can be a contender, but to work on his grapevine. Len thought hold and posture were good, but to work on his flexed knees - good but not great yet. Scores were 2 8’s and a 7 from Len for a total of 23 out of 30.

Holly Madison and Dmitry Chaplin have the Samba this week and it looks like Holly is super frustrated in practice. She thinks Dmitry wishes he had Jewel back. LOL! I bet he does, Holly. ha! And just like that right off the bat, she does a lift b/c she doesn’t keep her foot on the ground. oopsy! I must say that she is actually doing this much better than Denise as both her and Denise have the same amount of coordination, but she is doing better and the ending was nice with the little spin trick. Not too bad, but not too good either. LOL! Carrie Ann said it was rough to watch that she looked disjointed and she pointed out the lift. Len told her to work on the footwork where it was hot at the top and wooden on the bottom - it was like a match. haha! Bruno said there was so much to display on the top, but that he had to eventually look at the feet which were not good. Scores were 2 6’s and a 5 from C.A. for a 17 out of 30.

Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer have the foxtrot this week and Lacey tells him to relax his frame because it is taxing on his back. Steve-O says he doesn’t want to rest, he wants to dance. Well bless his little soul. I type that as he cusses up a storm. LOL! His timing is off in a few moves, but honestly I think he came back and did just fine ‘cept at the end he slipped and ran into the steps and looks like he hurt his leg. Poor guy - with his Jackass background you’d think he’d have better luck and not get hurt. Len says he is giving him an O for Ovation, but a couple of moments where he lost it. He did dance the proper foxtrot though according to Len. Bruno said he started well, but it fell into pieces. Carrie Ann says she was impressed and really respect what he did this week. Scores were all 5 for a total of 15 out of 30.

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska have the sexy, fun Samba this week. Lawrence gave up his golf game to practice more. What a life! The crowd likes it and so did I. He had nice bounce in his step and really enjoyed himself. Bruno said he was pretty light on his feet and told him to have more fun with it. Carrie Ann said good job and go for a little more difficulty. Len likes his work ethic and wants more hips, but thought it was a good job. Scores were 2 7’s and a 6 from stingy Len for a 20 out of 30.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas have the elegant foxtrot tonight after last weeks charming salsa. She talks to her friends via webcam on the computer which was way cheesy and totally unneeded. I guess we need to see her act like a teenager. They dance to “More than This” by 10,000 Maniacs. Her hold is spectacular, spins spot on, her rise and fall was great, and I say she achieved her elegance. Carrie Ann said it was so great and she looked like a princess. Len loved the fluid movement, hunched in the hold to which he was booed, but Len thought it was her best performance. Bruno called her a beautiful bejeweled hummingbird and said she listened to him about her arms. Scores were all 9’s for a 27 out of 30. Yayy for Shawn! I loved it.

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke have the sexy samba. Can he hold on to the top spot tonight? Gilles Mom came from France to watch him rehearsal and she speaks all french so we had subtitles, but she seemed really proud of Gilles and had tears in her eyes. Ok, we are starting off with major booty shaking from them both - sexy. Wow we’ve got a competition on our hands tonight. Gilles looked like a pro out there - shaking his thing. Great job! Len said he is a really good dancer, it lacked a bit of rhythm in the opening (he was booed), and he said he made a hard dance look easy. Bruno said he can raise the heat and everyone wants to party with them. Carrie Ann said it was excellent and said he brought out something in Cheryl she hasn’t seen in awhile - meaning she went hardcore. That’s b/c her other partners have sucked after her last win. Scores were all 9’s for a 27 out of 30. Tied for top score so far.

David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson have the foxtrot and are gonna bust out tonight. Ok, we’ll see. He has some nice high kicks for a man. He glided elegantly across the floor and had some nice kicks and kept up just fine. I liked it. Bruno said he took it to broadway and said it was a transformation. Carrie Ann said two snaps up with a huge belly laugh and she loved the difficult choreography. Len said this week is the best dance he’s done. Scores were all 8’s for a 24 out of 30.

Up next is Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff and I just know we are gonna get his hamstring drama. And yes, we do - ambulance ride and all. Did you see my post this week with his pic? He pulled the hamstring and he is on crutches. He is going to try to pull through despite the injury. Poor guy! He has the Samba this week. He goes down the steps backwards which can’t be too good on his hamstrings…ouchy. He has some bounce in his step and he is light on his feet, but he looks like pretty boy floyd. He does the wiggle worm on the floor and Karina does a crazy flip at the end which doesn’t quite work out. She claims it was her fault. Crazy stuff. Bruno is hiding his head and C.A. can’t look up. Carrie Ann says he is so cute and at some point the novelty wears off. She said he had problems with the worm, but likes how he always goes full out. Len says he thinks the dances are killing Steve and hopes the viewers are entertained that it was terrible from start to finish. Bruno said it was the worst Samba he has ever seen - just bad. Scores were 2 3’s and a 4 from C.A. and the audience is booing loudly. Total score 10 out of 30. I think this is the lowest score ever in DWTS history.

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani have the foxtrot this week. She travels to Dallas and cleans out her desk at her former workplace. I read that she couldn’t even tell her boss where she was going due to the secrecy of the show so I imagine she lost her job. The welcoming was nice at work though so I don’t think they let her go angrily or anything. So we start on the top of the stage, nice turns and nice high kick. I thought she did great. She wasn’t as fluid as Shawn was in moving across the floor, but I thought she looked comfortable. Len said she has great musicality and expression and to work on the footwork leading from the heell or something. Bruno said she is beautiful to look at and easy to love - the music plays from her body. Carrie Ann said she is an excellent dancer and loves the finesse and something is lacking that she can’t put her finger on - possibly challenge herself more. Scores were all 9’s for a 27 out of 30. Triple tie for the top.

Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough have the sexy samba this week and I can almost guarantee that this will be good b/c of her R&B flair. She promises some booty shaking and I just knew we were gonna get that. She did some booty shaking, but it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. She looked a bit stiff and she did lose her place once. It was just ok. Bruno said it worked for him and said it wasn’t perfect, but she sold it to him big time. Carrie Ann said it was hot and she was going for everything and also pointed out a few mistakes. Len said she must have a bionic booty and he criticized Derek about not putting in the fundamentals. Scores were 2 8’s and a 9 from Bruno for a 25 out of 30.

Last up is Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower performing the foxtrot. I’m suprised he has the foxtrot this week since he had ballroom last week - they usually rotate week after week. He is so darn cute in practice. I know I say he is cute all the time, but dang it, he just is. He starts with a top hat and I won’t say it - he looks…..ok nevermind. Oh crap, Chelsie falls and I’m not sure why. Oh, she trips on her dress. Poor thing. They turned a bit too fast too and got a little carried away and had to slow down, but I still thought they did good in the way they did the moves when they were on their feet and in control. Carrie Ann said he was most improved by miles. She says he looks fantastic and said he handled it so well when she fell. Len said it was a bit stiff and lacked musicality and C.A. shouted out “no it didn’t, it was good.” She said that was supposed to be in her head. LOL! Len said the whole thing was fantastic and he loved how Ty held her up as the rock. Bruno loved it, but pointed out the mistake and said he is an amazing improvement. Scores were 2 8’s and a 7 from Bruno for a 23 out of 30.

Leaderboard:

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas 27 out of 30

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke 27 out of 30

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani 27 out of 30

Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough 25 out of 30

David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson 24 out of 30

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough 23 out of 30

Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower 23 out of 30

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 20 out of 30

Holly Madison and Dmitry Chaplin 17 out of 30

Denise Richards and Maksim Chmirkovskiy 16 out of 30

Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer 15 out of 30

Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff 10 out of 30

Steve Wozniak will surely be in the dance off and Denise might be there with him or Holly Madison. I think Steve-O’s fan will pull him through b/c they want to see more from him. We’ll find out tomorrow night.

So Many Injuries…So Little Time

So we’ve dealt with the Jewel and Nancy O’dell drama. Then we’ve got the Steve-O fiasco and a little bit of the Gilles Marini shoulder drama. Now add Steve Wozniak to the mix. Oh we knew it was bound to happen to old, out of shape, Steve Wozniak, didn’t we? The word is that Steve took a ride in the ambulance and it is a leg injury, possibly the hamstring…and he is walking with a limp. Here’s his mug (which was put up on the Woz.org website and has since been removed..hmmmmm):

Steve Wozniak injured; fate unknown on ‘Dancing’

He is wearing his trademark black shoes, black socks, shorts, and white legs so we know he was at a dancing rehearsal. LOL!

Regarding Steve-O, there is conflicting reports about whether he was cleared to compete for this week. If it were to happen, his clearing would have came on Thursday after his doctor’s appointment. He was not to practice until his doctor cleared him. So, we’ll see if he as well as the other Steve is on the show this week. Stay tuned for my injury reports from www.starsdancingontv.com. With the way this season is going, there will probably be many more reports. :)

Dancing with the Stars Season 8 Judgement Night!

Posted By: admin On: March 18, 2009 Comments: ( 0 )

Did you watch the recap show? I didn’t. I watched the Biggest Loser - oops, another network, but who cares? I don’t need recaps because I watched it last night. And tonight we are starting it off with a musical guest Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Julianne, Cheryl, Derek, Lacey, Mark, and Tony Dovolani are doing the jive. I love the jive and I love the pairings of the couples during the song. Loved the beginning - for once.

Samantha is backstage with Steve-O who gives us an update on his condition. Steve said he had the bad idea to do the flip at the end, but he is back. He wants to stay in the competition for Lacey - awww - and he totally made it sound like it was his idea and not Lacey’s. Right well he should b/c I doubt Lacey wanted to do that stuff, but was just trying to please the daredevil Jackass that is Steve-O so I’m glad he set Carrie Ann straight b/c she did make it sound like it was Lacey’s fault last night. Shame on you, C.A. Tom sums it up “Lacey is the voice of caution.” That’s a good summary, Tom. We now go into recap mode now seeing who is in what place on the leaderboard. Boo. :(

We are going straight to the reveal with 4 safe couples. First couple safe is Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska. Next safe are Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas. Also back next week are Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough. Finally David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson are also safe. Not really surprised at that.

Wow back from commercial and we are doing more safe couples. Next saved are Denise Richards and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Followed by Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani and Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough. Finally Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke are also safe.

Oh lawdy - Cameron Mathison is back doing a survival guide for celebrities. First is don’t trip down the stairs - we then see Shawn Johnson tripping as well as Cameron falling down them during his season. Second is backstage is where you make friends and sike people out. He hugs Shawn Johnson and plays nice then tells her she is going down. I busted out laughing on that one. I know I shouldn’t since it is Cameron after all, but I couldn’t help it. He is so tall and telling little Shawn she is going down reminds me of Will Ferrell in one of his comedy sketches. Third is always cry in confession - we then see Shannon Elizabeth’s episode with Derek and Cameron trying to cry on cue, but can’t. Lastly is kiss up to the judges where he gives Bruno his dry cleaning of a thong. LOL! One tip is to make friends with the tan girl and lastly - don’t sign up at all. LOL! Ok, it was a little corny, but the whole Shawn Johnson scene made it all worth watching for me.

Macy’s Stars of Dance are on and guess what - I am fast fowarding it since I’m behind. If I don’t see my pros dancing then forget it. After commercial break we have more performances. Now up is Jewel while newcomer pro’s Dmitry Chaplin and Chelsie Hightower perform. Jewel performs “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and I must say she can sing. Chelsie is looking beautiful in a pale pinkish beige dress and her hair is gorgeous. Dmitry of course has his shirt open which is his trademark from So You Think You Can Dance. Chelsie does a move where she runs up on stage behind Jewel and jumps off into Dmitry’s arms and it was beautiful! During the end it seemed like Jewel had a big frog in her throat and was trying to get it out - not too beautiful, but overall she sounded great.

Tom said that viewer’s voted on their dance for this season and this time viewers chose the Quickstep. Remember last year viewers chose the jive and then got to pick the song and dancers. Well, they are doing that again this year and the Quickstep won. Next thing to vote on is what song - so get your voting on, peeps.

Now the stars are sizing up their competition and you can watch that b/c I am not recapping it. After that bit we are left with the 5 couples that are left and now we are going to find out who are in the bottom 2. First safe couple out of this bunch are Holly Madison and Dmitry Chaplin. Next returning is Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower. Also safe is Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer. The bottom 2 couples are Belinda Carlisle and Jonthon Roberts as well as Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff. No surprise on Steve, but Belinda I thought would have more of a following.

Let the dance off begin! We see some practice footage where Belinda works on her hips this morning and now we have the dance off where she is doing the Salsa again. Looks like she had some timing issues and couldn’t get an arm or something to do a trick, but I think she will be staying tonight because Steve is so bad. Len said we saw more hip action, but she forgot some steps. Carrie Ann said she enjoyed watching her this time, but the middle section wasn’t an improvement tonight. Scores were 2 6’s and a 5 from Carrie Ann for a total of 17 out of 30. Their score tonight was 1 point lower.

Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff are back doing the Quickstep. They practice hard on not missing a beat this time. We shall see. Looks like he got tangled up a bit on the same spot again, but not as noticeable as last night. The crowd is on their feet tonight. Bruno said he admires his determination and sunny disposition, but he is not a good dancer. He does love watching him though. C.A. said she thought they were better tonight. Len admires him for practicing more, but said there wasn’t a lot of improvement. He said he was the best for fun and entertainment though. Scores were 2 6’s and a 5 from Len for a total of 17 out of 30 which is the same score they had last time.

Oh by the way - our scores still count for 50% of the final total so the judges do not get the final say - I’m glad for that. We got to commercial while they are figuring the scores. Which begs the question - does the dance off really have to be necessary? Anyways, leaving us tonight are Belinda Carlisle and Jonathon Roberts. Booo! :( Guess she won’t get her chance to lose weight with Nutrisytem and become the next Marie Osmond. THANK GAWD FOR THAT! See ya next week!

Week 2 of Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars

Posted By: admin On: March 17, 2009 Comments: ( 0 )

I’ve been on vacation so I haven’t kept up with the latest news. I read there are more injuries so we’ll see who is actually competing tonight and if we have replacements again. Let’s get started…

First impressions:

Lil’ Kim is decked out in red, Lacey Schwimmer came down the steps without Steve-O, Edyta actually looks quite stunning in a sheer black gown with red roses on it, Cheryl almost bites it down the stairs, Julianne and Chuck look cute, Ty looks cute, Shawn is showing lots o’ skin around the belly region, Denise Richards is suprisingly covered, but is showing some middriff, and Melissa Rycroft looks cute as can be. She reminds me a lot of Kelly Monaco from Season 1.

Tom tells us that Steve-O was injured today so he is not with us tonight. Hmmm..wonder if that means the judges will score him on his taped practice b/c remember that is plan B. We’ll see…

Holly Madison is up first with the Quickstep. Holly thinks it is a good idea to play 20 questions with Dmitry so they can get to know each other better since they are practically strangers. They’ve determined they are polar opposites - that’s good to know - NOT! Here we go - she is decked out in purple and looks pretty good if you ask me. She gets tangled up with her feet starting off. She sure doesn’t look very graceful and her hold is lacking. I DO NOT like this dance - looks like they were running all over the place. I think Dmitry is out of his league on this dance. UGH! She did keep up - I will give her that. Len starts off explaining the quickstep to us on what is proper and said her posture was lacking. Bruno said it looked like she was running for a bus most of the time. Carrie Ann said she liked she was willing and eager, but that she was kind of like a doll. She needs to work on being an equal partner. Scores were all 6’s for a total of 18 out of 30. And is it just me or did the judges number paddles get some added glitter?

David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson have the Salsa this week. He wants to increase the intensity so he can be an equal partner with him - good for him. We’ll see if he keeps up here and also keeps his face in check with one personality. He seems to stay in character and has some nice moves. It was cute, but nothing I’m overly excited about. Bruno said the character was right, but timing was off and told him to work on hip and foot. Carrie Ann said the musicality was missing this week. Len thought they performed well, but said the problem was too much Kym, it lacked rhythm, and hip action. Scores were 2 6’s and a 5 from Len for a total of 17 out of 30.

Denise Richards and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have the Quickstep this week. You’ll be happy to know there were no tears in practice this week - at least they didn’t show them on camera. Dang they look good so far. They dance to a song from Grease, “We Go Together” I think it is. She lost it during the middle and end and her spin sucked at the end, but I thought she faired pretty good this week. Carrie Ann said it was much better - she found her elegance and was a great improvement. Len agreed saying it was a great job, much improved. Bruno said the same thing - great leg action - keep up the good work. Scores were all 7’s for a total of 21 out of 30. She’s in the lead so far. LOL!

Belinda Carlisle and Jonathon Roberts have the Salsa this week. This week she is going to let loose and go wild like she did with the Go-Go’s. Can’t wait to see it. She starts on two chairs. She looks relaxed and is shaking it pretty good. It is so Marie Osmondish that I am having flashbacks of the Marie season. You know how much I loved Marie - NOT! Why wouldn’t it be Marie Osmondish as her partner was also Jonathon Roberts - ick! She immediately said she messed up. Hmmm. Len said the hip action was missing, but performance was fine. Bruno said timing was off - needs to be much sharper and to go for it. Len takes Bruno’s scoring paddle for the #1 and held it up. Bruno goes after him and Carrie Ann tells him to sit down. LOL! Carrie Ann said it lacked grace, but she loved her freedom. Scores were all 6’s for a total of 18 out of 30. Eighteen seems to be a pretty popular score tonight.

Up next is Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower with the Quickstep. Chelsie emphasizes his face this week as he needs to smile more and have fun. He is so cute in a tux and the song they dance to is “Life is Highway.” He is smiling by the way and the crowd is cheering. Dang he is so cute with his smile. His posture was lacking a bit, but he did AWESOME as he led Chelsie quickly around that floor. I liked it A LOT! Carrie Ann screams YEEHAW! She is proud of him and said it was smooth and he kept up - she loved the hold in the upper body. Bruno said he was riding that quickstep and said he was an improvement. Len said this week he is a butterfly and told him to watch his back hand, but said he liked it. Yayyy! Scores were 2 7’s and a 6 from Len for a 20 out of 30.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas have the Salsa this week. She looks like a Chiquita Banana girl with her outfit and earrings. She is embarrassed during practice because she has been trained to be rigid and not loose. Lots of turns they are doing and they are fast. Her hip action is actually quite good. Mark puts some gymnastics moves in there where she kicks her legs up twice in the back and boy does she kick high. They do splits at the end several times and it is just awesome. Great performance - loved it and I love her! Bruno called her the cutest thing he’s ever seen - called it precise and sharp, but to work on the naughty-ness. Tom reminds Bruno she is only 17. LOL! Len said it was clean and precise and never had the feeling she was going wrong. Len wants her to throw caution to the wind and let it go a bit more. Carrie Ann thought it was fantastic and tight and loved her “bam bam” hips. Scores were all 8’s for a 24 out of 30.

Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff have the quickstep. Karina is already taping up glasses for him which means he will have a nerdy funny routine. Steve has a foot injury and it appears he has a fracture. The doctor said he thinks he should dance and he has to wear a walking cast when he is not dancing. They do a 50’s style Quickstep. He has Converse sneakers on and I’m not sure how Len will like that. I must say he is keeping up with the steps except now when I just type that. It was a fun performance and his ex-wife, Kathy Griffin, is there to cheer him on. Len said he is very happy about the Buddy Holly song, but the dance quality isn’t there, the fun is. Carrie Ann said she was juding with a smile, but to work on his arms becoming more fluid and to work on endurance. Bruno said Steve is like Wall-E, rusty/stiff, but charming. Scores were 2 6’s and a 5 from Len for a 17 out of 30.

Tom tells us the bottom 2 couples will compete in a dance off where they will get new scores - whoever has the lowest score goes home. Hmmm…I wonder if the judges are the ones then that decide who goes home then. Not sure if I like that.

Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks have the sexy Salsa tonight. This could be either super gooood and sexy or super bad! Can’t wait! Chuck is embarrassed in practice which surprises me that he is that way with his girlfriend. He doesn’t like the feminine moves. Chuck says he is going to attack this dance Derek (Hough) style. hehe! Julianne starts at the judges table and Chuck is on stage. He starts with the hips and they look pretty nice. Julianne is wearing lots of fringe with her pants ALL fringe. I can tell that Chuck is less nervous this week and seems to be having fun this time. I thought it was cute. Also it looked like Julianne Hough’s thong was coming up and she kept pulling her pants up. I had to point that out to my male friends who search for Julianne’s thong and come to my site. Yeah, I can tell what you search for when you land on my site - don’t try to hide it, boys! Bruno called it a wasted opportunity as he wanted MORE dancing. Len wanted him to come out and sell it - they want more from him. Carrie Ann says he has so much potential and it didn’t feel like a Salsa to her. Poor Julianne - C.A. just slammed her. Scores were 2 7’s and a 6 for a total of 20 out of 30.

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska have the Quickstep. Lawrence is having issues in practice - he cusses and messes up a lot. I like that fact the he isn’t competing against anyone, but himself. That’s right,Lawrence. Let’s see what he’s got. He has a ncie smile on his face. They go up on stage and Edyta kicks that leg of hers. He kept up just fine and swung her at the end. It looked like she kept her foot down which C.A. should like. Carrie Ann said it was much better this week - called it smooth and powerful all at once. Bruno said he attacked this performance and he came out and performed. Len thought it was difficult choreography - said it was much improved and well done. Scores were 2 7’s and a 6 from Len for a total of 20 out of 30.

Tom is telling us about Steve-O and how he was injured during dress rehearsal today. He did something to his back and landed on the Mic. Pack. Steve wants to load this dance up with tricks. He was having issues in practice with his back and Lacey is concerned since pain usually isn’t an issue with Steve-O and his profession. We get to see his dress rehearsal performance and that will be what he is judged on (also known as Plan B). He falls in one of their first tricks. This doesn’t quite look like a Salsa to me. I don’t see much hips. They did a front flip at the end and he landed on it at the end which made his back injured even more. Len said he didn’t get it as a performance - he didn’t see any Salsa. Bruno said none of it made sense. Carrie Ann said she agrees and that they took unnecessary risks. Basically it sounded like C.A. was blaming the injury on Lacey’s choreography. She looks pissed backstage. Scores were 2 5’s and a 4 from Len for a total of 14 out of 30.

Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough has 20’s style hair and is decked out in red. She doesn’t quite look like a rapper right now. Derek is trying to get her tame herself as she is putting in a little too much for the Quickstep! They dance to “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend.” What I like about her is that she attacks it - whatever it is. She doesn’t seem to have any shame and just does her thing. Pretty good! Bruno said it was a bit too far apart at times, but he loved it. Carrie Ann loved it and thought the choreography was fantastic, but to work on the hold as it was too far apart. Len said she is not shy saying there wasn’t a lot of quality in the dance. Len said there was virtually no body contact - he wants more refinement and preciseness. Scores were 2 8’s and a 7 from Len for a total of 23 out of 30.

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani have the Salsa this week. She is showing a very nice toned tummy. She is working on making things less big and to unlearn everything she’s learned. LOL! She has a huge smile on her face which is perfect! She does sooo awesome! Has a lot of hip and shoulder action. The tricks at the end were FABULOUS! She is a little firecracker and I love her! Carrie Ann said finally a real Salsa - calling everything great and SLAMMIN’! Len was girating on the seat - he said it was absolutely full on calling it the Salsa of the night. Bruno said no we are cooking - calling it a juicy Salsa - Bruno wants more! This is the kind of partner Tony needs - someone like Stacy Keibler from Season 2 - not none of these old broads! Scores were 2 9’s and an 8 from Len for a total of 26 out of 30. WOOHOO!

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke have the final dance of the night - Quickstep. I heard Gilles hurt himself too, but not sure if they will let us in on it yet - as it may not be serious enough. On the other hand they might milk it for more DRAMA! Oh yeah - here we go - he has a separation of the shoulder. Cheryl wants him to cut out the sexy and become more elegant. Must be hard to be soo sexy, eh? They are doing a fine job and I really like this modernized quickstep. They dance to a weird song “Superman.” which is not at all a Quickstep song, but they are making it work. He is dressed as Clark Kent and he sure looks like him with the glasses. At the end he throws his glasses off and rips open his jacket and shirt and reveals a purple and green superman shirt. Interesting! Len thought it was great. I couldn’t agree more! Bruno said great class and American flair saying there was lots of sparks out there. Carrie Ann said they are becoming the fan faves making the ladies swoon. We then see Sabrina Bryan in the audience. Remember? She left us too soon! Scores were 3 9’s for a 27 out of 30. Will Cheryl be the first professional to win 3 times?

Leaderboard:

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke 27 out of 30

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani 26 out of 30

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas 24 out of 30

Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough 23 out of 30

Denise Richards and Maksim Chmerkovskiy 21 out of 30

Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower 20 out of 30

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough 20 out of 30

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 20 out of 30

Holly Madison and Dmitry Chaplin 18 out of 30

Belinda Carlisle and Jonathon Roberts 18 out of 30

Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff 17 out of 30

David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson 17 out of 30

Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer 14 out of 30

Overall, I thought this week went so much better than last week. I can’t say I like Steve Wozniak and expect him to go first. I hope that Steve-O can hold on longer b/c I want to see what else he can do. My favorite of the night - Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovoalni. I also thought Ty Murray, Shawn Johnson, and Gilles Marini were equally as good.

I say look for a dance off between Steve Wozniak and possibly David Alan Grier.

We’re baaaack! Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars

Posted By: admin On: March 10, 2009 Comments: ( 3 )

We’re back live!! First impressions…

Shawn Johnson almost falls down the steps and we haven’t even begun the show. Missing from the lineup is Jewel and Nancy O’dell obviously. Most of the women including Lil’ Kim need more clothes especially Edyta which isn’t a surprise, is it? Belinda Carlisle looks very matronly. Denise Richards is surprisingly covered up and looks not so bad. Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough make a cute couple. Karina Smirnoff looks annoying like her voice. Steve-O cleans up pretty nice after all. I was worried about him. Lacey looks wayyy too tan. I think someone got carried away with the spray tan.

Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough is up first. She said her first time watching the show was in prison. All I know is she has had some major work done on her face. She compared herself to black Barbie - plastic is right, Lil’ Kim. Wow - she has got a BIG BOOTIE!! They are dancing the Cha Cha Cha.  She is very fluid, has nice toe points, and letting loose. Their song is Nasty by Janet Jackson. Pretty good for the start of the show. Len thought it was first class - work on posture and needs some refining, but good job. Bruno called her nasty but tasty and said she can work wonders with her tooshie. He commented on her “funny” footwork. C.A. says she has great potential and she needs to just let it out. Scores are all 7’s for a 21 out of 30.

Belinda Carlisle and Jonathon Roberts are up next. I can’t believe she is considered the old broad on the show this season. I used to listen to her in the 80’s when I was a pre-teen. Belinda has issues with spins in practice and has to sit down. They start off this week with the waltz and they spin like crazy at the beginning. Nothing like getting those pesky spins out of the way early on. She has a nice smile and glides across the floor. She has nice rise and fall for the most part and she seemed really graceful. It was a very safe dance though - nothing spectacular about it. They dance to “What the World Needs Now is Love.” Bruno loved her first spin comparing her to Julie Andrews, but then said she turned into Cloris Leachman. He wants her to work on lines and footwork. C.A. said it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t Cloris Leachman. C.A. wants her to trust Jonathon more. Len said overall there was moments of grace and elegance. Scores are 2 6’s and a 5 from Bruno for a total of 17 out of 30.

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are up next. Lawrence thinks he has more dance ability than Jason Taylor so he knows he can go further than that. They dance the cha cha cha and he sooo reminds me of Emmitt Smith on the dance floor. I guess that isn’t a bad thing since Emmitt won so it is possible. He looked like he had a good time out there. C.A. started and said he didn’t quite live up to the reputation of the other football players. She wants him to get down and dirty more. Len said crisp and sharpness was lacking, but he enjoyed watching him. Bruno said it was so laid back that it was thrown away. He wants him to come out and attack it. Scores are 2 5’s and a 6 from C.A. for a total of 16 out of 30.

Oh look at that - Johnny Knoxville and Wee Man are sitting in the audience. They are there supporting Steve-O. Steve-O comes into first rehearsale on a bike and Lacey laughs. We learned that Steve-O is coming out of rehab after a year and really wanted to do Dancing with the Stars b/c it is healthy, wholesome and challenging. Good for him if he really means it. I really thought he’d be an A$$ Lacey and Steve-O are dancing the waltz. They start off with a nice trick where Steve-O is flipped over Lacey’s back. The crowd loves it. The music I don’t know is very macabre. His turns are a little stiff, but he glides pretty nicely and there were some graceful moments. He ends with a little Elvis move rounding his arm in an air guitar movement. Crowd loves him and Lacey is so proud. He looks cute in his suit!! Len admired his commitment stating he didn’t “jackass” about, but technically there was a lot going on that wasn’t the ticket. Len expected much worse, so well done. Bruno said it was big pile of slapstick - he laughed and was entertained. C.A. was oddly mesmerized by the beauty, but called it awkward, but said he has an incredible determination that was inspiring to watch. Good for Steve-O. Scores are 2 6’s and a 5 from Len for a total of 17 out of 30.

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke have the cha cha cha. He admitted to being the least known celeb and I couldn’t agree more. I haven’t seen Sex and the City Movie. Cheryl said he doesn’t have the fan base so he has to work extra hard. He is also concerned about going home first. His movements are precise and crisp which Len will like. Him and Cheryl are HOT!! They do a move at the end where he runs his finger down Cheryl’s chest..HOT STUFF!!! The CROWD LOVES IT and honestly I loved it too. C.A. said WOOHOO! She says he has great potential and commended Cheryl. Bruno said he knows how to strut his stuff and said Cheryl has something to play with this time. Len commended Cheryl on the routine and said Gilles pulled it off calling it fabulous. WOW! What a great start for him in week 1. Scores are all 8’s for a total of 24 out of 30.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough are up next and he kisses her on the nose backstage. They have the waltz first. She calls him baby in practice and is still hard on him like her other partners which is what he needs if they are going to win this season. They dance to “Are you Lonesome Tonight?” They spin fast and his turns are a little off, but he isnt meant to be perfect week. He looks a little scared AND he lifted her at the end (her foot came off the ground). I know C.A. will point out the lift. Julianne comments she has never seen him this nervous before. Bruno said it looked good at times and other times it felt like he was chasing her. Bruno said “easy man, easy”. Len liked the footwork and he moved well, but to work on posture. C.A. said he might be one of the most graceful men they’ve had on the show in a long time and she did point out the lift - she did like how great they looked together and that he could possibly go far. Scores are 2 7’s and a 6 from C.A. for a total of 20 out of 30.

Tom Bergeron speaks to Jewel and Nancy O’dell who are sitting in the audience. Jewel is disappointed that she can’t compete with her hubby, but will be in the audience cheering him on and will get to sing. Nancy O’Dell is jealous with Tony’s new partner and anxious to see who that is. Nancy will need to have surgery.

Holly Madison Playboy cover girl and “The Girl’s Next Door” Reality Star is Jewel’s replacement. She only had 1 week to prepare with newcomer pro Dmitry Chaplin. They’ve got the Cha Cha Cha and she is easily frustrated. Who wouldn’t be with only 1 week to prepare? Everyone else had close to 4 weeks to prepare. They dance to Lady Gaga’s “Let’s Dance.” Holly is very unsure of herself and lacks technique and I have to say the singers singing this song are HORRID. The last trick was cool, but I didn’t care for it. Would have liked to see Jewel, but you always want what you can’t have. The crowd didn’t seem to like it and Jewel looked a bit embarrassed in my opinion. I couldn’t read her. We did see last season’s winner, Brooke Burke with her hubby David Charvet and Marlee Matlin. Marlee can’t stay out of the audience. Anyways, back to Holly and Dmitry, Len thought it wasn’t bad. Len thinks next week they’ll have longer to practice so it could be better next week. C.A. said she appreciates what she did, but would like to see her next week after she works on her balance. Bruno said she is easy to look at and said some of the sections were pretty good, but lost timing…there is hope. Scores are all 6’s for a total of 18 out of 30. I think they patronized her. I think Lawrence Taylor did better than her and he got a lower score.

With only 2 days to prepare, Nancy O’dell’s replacement is Bachelor’s rejectee Melissa Rycroft. She is partnered with Tony Dovolani. They show her backstage and she is darling! Tony is chattering his teeth on his fingers looking scared. Tom said she will preform a dance with the least amount of training in the history of the show. You go, girl! She is brave and I must say I fell in love with her on the Bachelor. Glad to see her on the show.

Up next though is Ty Murray (Jewel’s hubby) and he’s partnered with newcomer Chelsie Hightower from So You Think You Can Dance. They meet and he seems very, very shy and he is so cowboy. I didn’t think there were such cowboy’s left in this world. Oh lawdy he looks horrible in practice. They have the Cha Cha Cha and I must say after viewing practice he might be first out. LOL! He looks cute tonight though. I like him much better without his cowboy hat. He looks like a cute little boy.He looks darling dancing. His timing is a bit off and they got mixed up on their moves a bit. Chelsie is a great addition to the show. His footwork was a bit sloppy, but I think he is cute. Jewel seemed to think so too. Bruno starts and C.A. has her head down on the judges table - I can’t tell if she is laughing or what. Bruno said it looks more like an army drill than the cha cha cha. ha! Bruno said there is always next week. Len said he came out and tried. C.A. said she thinks he is one cute cowboy and loved the way he attacked it - she loved how he let go and have fun, but to work on his dancing. LOL! He is darling! Scores are 2 5’s and a 4 from Len for a total of 14 out of 30.

17 year old Olympic Gold Medalist, Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas have the waltz this week. Shawn is so cute and so incredibly tiny. Wow! Her concern is showing emotion and coming off as serious and emotional - we’ll see. I didn’t know that they were taught to not show emotion in gymastics b/c that is seen as weakness. I had no idea - I thought they were all just like that. I guess it does make sense. She is decked out in a flowing yellow dress and showing some cleavage - she is so stocky and muscular. She has nice toe points and she glides gracefully. Her hand extensions are gorgeous and her and Mark have great chemistry. She reminds me a lot of Mark’s former partner and ex-girlfriend Sabrina Bryant just tinier and less powerful. Shawn is my favorite so far!! C.A. was truly moved for a young little one. C.A. loved her grace and dynamics - she loved it. Bruno said she was surprisingly refined for someone so young, but to beware of the gymnastic arm. Len found the whole thing appealing, but overall it was fantastic. Scores were 2 8’s and a 7 from Bruno for a total of 23 out of 30.

Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff are up next dancing the Cha Cha Cha. Karina’s voice is once again annoying - ack! Steve is such a nerd, but what did I expect? He is riding around on a Segway with a helmet to greet Karina - GEEK! In practice he is wearing black shorts, black socks, and black shoes - ick! He is trying to turn dancing into numbers and computers - and Karina looks disgusted. He starts off with a big pink boa on and he looks like twinkle toes, but he is giving it his all and having fun. They did have fast movements and he kept up just fine, but he will NOT be around long that is for sure. Len said the good news is it held his attention throughout, but overall it was a disaster. Bruno said it was like watching a teletubby go mad. OMG! C.A. said he is what this competition is all about - he is doing something new and going out on a limb which she likes. She liked rooting for him. Scores were 2 4’s and a 5 from C.A. for a total of 13 out of 30.

David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson have the Waltz. He comes in with dry humor and Kym didn’t really get it. I thought it was hilarious. He keeps asking Kym if he’s lost weight (today). Haha!  They dance to “You Light Up My Life”. He seems like a natural and very gentle. He has nice posture and grace. I’m impressed actually. Bruno said good lines at times, but in hold he is leaning into her and commented on his multiple characters in the dance. C.A. mentioned her background with him on In Living Color. She told him to watch his face b/c it is distracting. Len said well done - there was far more good then bad. He mentioned his bum sticking out. C.A. interrupts at the end stating Kym’s foot came off the ground. UGH - give it up Carrie Ann. Scores are 2 6’s and a 7 from Len for a total of 19 out of 30.

Dancing the Cha Cha Cha next is Denise Richards and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Denise apologizes too much in practice and then she pours on the tears. Hmmm. She looks timid and nervous. Wow she is uncoordinated, but with some work she could be good.  She did some nice splits, but her one arm looked awkward at times like she didn’t know where to put it. It was mediocre. Her Dad was there in the audience - he is so proud.  C.A. said she looked terrified and it is confusing b/c she has great potential and to watch the shoulders. C.A. said she was proud of her. Len said she came out and gave it a good shot - tone it up there b/c it was too loose. Bruno said she’s got it all, but doesn’t know what to do with it. Scores were all 6’s for a total of 18 out of 30.

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani are the last to perform. I guess the producers put them last so they could practice all night while the other couples danced. That was nice of them. Tom made a joke stating she might not even remember the routine. That would be my thing too - Tony has his work cut out for him this week that is for sure. Luckily they have the waltz so it is slower and might be easier to remember - we’ll see.   She looks so cute and natural and the dance had some nice tricks. I love her pointed toes and extensions. C.A. will point out the lift unless she couldn’t tell it with her flowing skirt, but I saw it. She looks happy and the crowd is on their feet. Tony kisses her forehead! I thought she did GREAT! She gets a thumbs up from Nancy O’dell! Len said it is obvious she’s danced before and said her feet were so balletic to work on that. Bruno said the Bachelor is a loser and then he said he loved her fluid arms comparing them to a bird. C.A. said she has great lines and is a natural, but to pull it together as far as her emotions go. Scores were 2 8’s and a 7 from Len for a total of 23 out of 30.

Leaderboard:

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke 24 out of 30

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas 23 out of 30

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani 23 out of 30

I think Steve Wozniak and Ty Murray are in the trouble. I’ve picked Steve Wozniak to leave us first.

Sorry this was late - my site went down due to too much activity - I guess it is nice to have so much traffic. Enjoy…

The Bachelor’s Rejectee Now a DWTS Contestant?

Melissa Rycroft from The Bachelor - Nancy O’dell’s replacement?

If anyone watches the Bachelor like I do, you are familiar with the latest drama that surrounds it with Bachelor, Jason, choosing Melissa Rycroft and even proposing to her only to dump her on TV and choosing the girl he sent away. Melissa was obviously pissed and heart broken.

Well, according to People magazine, Melissa will be the newest replacement for Nancy O’dell on Dancing with the Stars. Of course this information is not confirmed yet and we won’t know for sure until tomorrow night when the show premiers, but I’m guessing that ABC chose this last minute replacement from their own pool of shows because well, it is easy access.

Melissa has a background as a cheerleader and has had ballet training so it won’t be very difficult to fill Nancy’s shoes in such a short time. If she is on the show, she will be partnered with Tony Dovolani.

I’m excited for Melissa - she’ll be able to take her frustrations out on the dance floor and her personality is a little firecracker which is exactly what this show needs. What are your thoughts?

Jewel and Nancy O’dell OUT Just 3 Days Before Premier

Posted By: admin On: March 6, 2009 Comments: ( 0 )

Yep, it’s true! Jewel and Nancy O’dell are out of the Dancing with the Stars competition before it even starts. They’ve both been training for a month and to be out 3 days prior to the start of the show must be devastating.

Jewel really wanted to do this with her hubby Ty before they settled down and had a family. It looks like she won’t have her chance to bond with her hubby this season. There is always next season, Jewels! Her knee injury is actually more serious. Jewel has tibia fractures in both her legs and has resorted to crutches to get around. She hopes to come back and sing on the show and even compete in the future.

This is the first we’ve heard about Nancy O’dell having injuries. She apparently tore her meniscus and will require knee surgery.  Wow - Tony Dovolani must have worked her to death. LOL!

Replacements haven’t been announced and won’t be until Monday’s premier show. There is already rumors spreading that Hugh Heffner’s ex and former “The Girl’s Next Door” reality star, Holly Madison will replace Jewel. No word on who if anyone will replace Nancy at this late in the game.

Producers are rethinking the strenuous training that the stars have to go through and are thinking of setting standards in place so that the stars don’t over do it. Well duh! Shouldn’t this have been in place since day 1?  It is strange that the young ones are getting injured - I guess it is probably because they can push it harder and tend to overdo it.

So - let the DRAMA begin. You know ABC will be milking this drama from the get-go. Did we expect anything different? I’m just not sure how anyone can get up to speed in 3 days when the others have had a full month to prepare their first dance. Doesn’t quite seem fair does it?  Let me know your thoughts!
