Season 9 Week 2 Results

We’re baaaack! Oh wow - love Samantha’s dress, but her hair looks like she put her finger in a light socket…way frizzy, curly and big. I am not digging it. I like her with straight silky hair. We start the night off with recaps and backstage confessionals. I am fast forwarding through the recaps and listening to the confessionals, but there is nothing newsworthy to report ‘cept Kelly Osbourne said this week was crap for her. Baz wants to see Maya and Dmitry’s jive tonight as the encore dance. It was great even a second time. Woot!
The first three couples that are safe are: Donny “gag” Osmond and Kym Johnson, Maya and Dmitry Chaplin, Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff. No surprises there - those were the top scorers from last night. This week the scores are closer than they’ve ever been so we might have an upset. Let’s hope not!
Joss Stone is performing and 2 pros that I don’t know. I also do not like Joss’ voice so I will probably fast forward through this bit. Yes that is exactly what I’m doing.
Now we get to see the training center where everyone gets to practice. They all fight for the big room that has the stairs where the judges sit. All the walls are painted crazy colors. All the stars spy on each other. Chuck Liddell was up in the raptors spying on Michael and Anna. Derek busts in on Alec and Natalie which was hilarious. Aaron stole someone’s boombox. I didn’t realize how much fun they had during rehearsals as all we see is the grueling work they put in. Glad they have some time for fun and I like seeing them backstage. Something different…
Mark Dacascos and Lacey are safe as are Natalie Coughlin and Alec Mazo. Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are in jeopardy.
Now more “entertainment” for me to fast forward through. This time it is cutesy Selena Gomez who is singing a song I have no idea what it is.. But wait - here comes Derek Hough and Karina Smirnoff so I won’t be fast forwarding through this bit. I love me some pros - our normal pro’s not pro’s like above that we know nothing about. Karina’s butt cheeks are peeking through a bit with her outfit. Hmmm…
Up on the stage now are the couples that received just 20 points from the judges. We will receive their fate according to Tom. Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough are safe. Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova are also safe.
Next up on the stage are the couples that received 19 points from the judges. Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya are safe. Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas are also safe. Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel are safe as well. Louis Vito and Chelsie Hightower are in jeopardy. BOO!
Next we have a taped bit about the stars bad habits and how the pros try to break them of that. I wasn’t paying any attention. Now we have more entertainment with USC Trojan Marching Band who apparently have albums out. Ok - hmm…I will not say anything at all about this bit. I’m bored. Going to grab a glass of wine. The marching band was playing “Get down tonight.” Ya know, do a little dance, make a little love - marching band style. Not my style I do know that. Ugh - I just sat down with my glass of wine and Joss is back. Luckily we have our very own pros taking the edge off. Dmitry, Anna, Louis and Cheryl are keeping me entertained whie I sip on some Oliver Soft Red wine. The wine is yummy. In case you were interested she is singing “Son of a Preacher Man.”
Tom DeLay and Cheryl Burke are safe now. Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani are in jeopardy. Dum Dum Dum. Tonight they are going to reveal who is truly in the bottom 2. Woohoo I say! They should do that every week and give the couples a wake up call.
Now we have all 3 couples who are jeopardy on stage while Sam and Tom tells us one more time what the judges told us last night. Next safe couple is Louis Vito and Chelsie Hightower. Yayy! That leaves us with the bottom 2 of Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani. Leaving us tonight are Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani. Let’s face it - she just wasn’t cut out for this. Poor Tony - is he ever gonna win?
Dancing with the Stars Week 2
Posted By: admin On: September 29, 2009 Comments: ( 0 )
Tonight the men and women are dancing against each other on the same night. Wow - if I have to endure another 5 hour week of DWTS, I think I might die. Don’t get me wrong, I love Dancing with the Stars, but these 2 hour shows two nights in a row and then followed by a 1 hour show the next night is a bit much. It is enough to drive a blogger who is limited on time crazy. Anyways, tonight we have jives and quicksteps which happen to be my two favorite dances. Yayy! In the previews I did see Debi smack Maks - but I am guessing they were acting.
First impressions - Aaron Carter looks like he belongs on a box of Lucky Charms. He has a green suit on - All green! Icky Poo! Chuck Liddell has something on the side of his head - kinda looks like a tattoo. I couldn’t tell because he kept his head turned. Weird. Lacey and Mark look cute. Donny looks like a dork. Louis and Chelsie are darling as they look like they are going to a modern sock hop. Michael and Anna are decked out in hot pink and I must say it looks good on him. Cheryl also has green on (way prettier than Aaron’s Green) and Tom Delay has a black suit on with a green matching tie. They look elegant. Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas are in red/white polka dots. She reminded me of Minnie Mouse. Maya is wearing a short bob of a wig with bangs and lots of fringe. I don’t like her wig. Natalie Couglin is wearing light purpe and looks gorgeous! Joanna Krupa is showing some tummy and looks like a rocker chick. Kelly Osborne is wearing a red gown and looks great! And we have a guest judge in Len’s place tonight - Baz Luhrmann who directed Moulon Rouge.
Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough are up first this week with the Jive. She started off by running to him and he slid her through his legs. Her toes were NOT pointed and it did not look nice. haha! Look at me pointing out these things as if I am the judge. I am a judge, ok? LOL! Oh and BTW, she has on a long wig that looks gross and gray. I do not like it. She is doing really well keeping up with Derek. Wow - this is pretty fast and she is right there along with him. What I love about her is she just lets it all out. You can tell she is having fun. Her kicks and flicks are pretty good too which is what they always look for. My only criticism is that they could have had more kicks and flicks, but it was really high energy. Carrie Ann loved the energy and gusto, but said her feet were a bit spastic and not pointed. Bruno said the flicks and kicks weren’t precise. Baz wanted to see more connection between the two - the relationship. Scores were 2 7’s and a 6 from Carrie Ann for a total of 20 out of 30.
Natalie Couglin and Alec Mazo have the Quickstep this week. In practice she is having issues with breathing since she is so used to holding her breath for swimming. I think that is pretty interesting that she brings that to the dance floor. All I know is we don’t want another Marie Osmond episode by not enough breathing, so please Nat, BREATHE! They jumped off the top step of the stage, wow - her in heels! Weird. Her hold/frame is really weak. Her high kick was nice and the kicking in and out banter with Alec was good. Her splits were good, but not going into them as her toes were not pointed. Once she got into the splits she pointed them and that looked better. This just didn’t feel like a Quickstep to me because it was not very quick. She also looked a bit uncomfy. Bruno told her to relax and she could be amazing. Baz agrees with Bruno, but liked the 2nd half b/c she was in the moment and lit up the room. Carrie Ann said she is her favorite b/c she likes watching her move. She wants her to think of Alec as an extension of her. Scores were all 7’s for a 21 out of 30.
Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya have the Tango this week. Hmm…I thought it was just jives and Quicksteps. Boo! :( He looks like he might be good at this with his fighter background. I hope he doesn’t freeze. And yes, he does have a cougar, panther or something on the side of his head. Looks kinda crazee! He has on the perfect mean face. He is a little forward in his leaning and he is kind of hard footed, but he certainly has the face down and the fierceness. At the end Anna rips off his shirt and he opens his mouth wide. LOL! Baz thought Len would rip him to pieces, but liked seeing him strong and the ability to face fear. Carrie Ann was frightened, but said that the dance had impact. Bruno said he could see the work he put into it - working very hard. Bruno asked us to vote for him as he is amazing. Aww - Chuck is my gentle giant. He is growing on me. Scores were 2 6’s and a 7 from Baz for a total of 19 out of 30. And Baz is pretty consistent with his 7. Let’s see if he has another paddle under that table.
Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas has the jive this week. Mark does the splits over her shoulders. Looks like she missed some kicks, but couldn’t tell. She is a lot looser this week and having some fun. This dance was a lot of fun and I bet she is glad to have it over with and under her belt. LOL! She did pretty well I thought. Carrie Ann screamed out and is so happy. She loved it. Bruno said so much was going on up there, but not a lot down there - she needed to check her feet. Baz thought it was a big improvement from last week, but to work on the steps. Scores were 2 6’s and a 7 from Carrie Ann. Baz gave a 6 this time. The audience BOO’d and I really thought it was better than a 19 out of 30.
Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova have the Quickstep this week. They work literally all day and night trying to perfect this. Wow he is serious. This is looking pretty good actually. This dance definitely did not lack content. It could have been faster for my taste, but that’s just me. Bruno liked that it had content calling it proper. He said he improved. Baz said he confronted the challenge and he had great charm, but the timing was a bit off. Carrie Ann said this week was like a touchdown compared to last week and complimented Anna for coming back this week with content. Scores were 2 7’s and a 6 from Bruno and the audience is booing Bruno for a total of 20 out of 30.
Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have the Tango tonight. So, I am guess the slap is part of getting in the mood of the Tango. She kicks Maks although she doesn’t make contact. She asks him to be more patient and he says “Never.” Looks like they are getting into it for reals. She is getting upset and crying for how he is treating her. He apologizes for how he treated her and then she smacked him. LOL! Good for her! Ok, this is looking good - a nice love/hate relationship. They are dancing to “Roxanne” but it sounds like the Count from Sesame Street singing it. haha! I think they captured the essence of the tango here. Baz also said “love/hate” just like me..haha - he loved how they played that story out. Carrie Ann called her the drama queen and she worked it on the dance floor. Bruno loves how she channels the feisty ball breaker, but said to work on the shaky parts. Maks doesn’t want her to continue channeling the ball breaker. LOL! Scores were all 7’s for a 21 out of 30. 7 is a popular score tonight, geez.
Louis Vito and Chelsie Hightower have the jive. Can’t wait to see this actually. Wow he does a semi flip off the top of the steps over Chelsie sitting on them. WOW! Love his tricks! They start right in with some nice kicks and flicks. Great high kicks! Wow - I loved this! Carrie Ann loves the joy he has while dancing, but said he had moments where he lost touch with the music. Bruno said at times he did too little, but in the parts he did things he did great. Baz thought they were a great couple, but thought his jacket worked against him since it was too big, but he thought they captured what the jive should be. Scores were 2 6’s and a 7 for a 19 out of 30. Boo on that score!
Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff do some crazy jumping stuff back stage. I don’t get it. This week they have the Quickstep. Looks like they have some pretty intense practices this time around. And…the muppets are in on this dance…interrupting the band. They are dancing to the Muppets Theme. Weird! It still doesn’t explain his Lucky Charms suit that doesn’t match Karina’s dress. They are actually doing a great Quickstep which seems like the best one so far. That was great! The ended it by doing the death spiral and landing on their stomachs and he gave her a kiss on the cheek. I really enjoyed this from them. Bruno called it spectacular and he stood up while he said it. Bruno loved how he commanded the performance but said the danger is he will have to live up to it. Baz loved how he is growing from one performance to the next. Carrie Ann who is also wearing green - she called it truly a pleasure. She loved the tight hold and pizazz. That doesn’t look like it is spelled right, but I don’t care. Oh, I get it, Karina is supposed to be Miss Piggy and Aaron is supposed to be Kermit in green. Ahhh - it all makes sense now. Scores were all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30. WOW! Good for them.
Kelly Osborne and Louis Van Amstel have the Tango and she is a nervous wreck because she only has 3 days to learn it as opposed to 4 weeks to learn her dance from last week - which was awesome. Here we go… WOW, Louis is known for being fast, but this Tango is extremely fast. It almost looks like a violent Quickstep. Some of the footwork is not together - she is a little ahead of him. She tried, but it wasn’t the best. Baz said there were mistakes, but she never gave up. Carrie Ann agrees with Baz and told her to stay in character. Bruno said it was a shame, but said she can do it. Scores were 2 6’s and a 7 from Baz for a 19 out of 30.
Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani have the Quickstep tonight. They are bouncing quite nicely, however this isn’t very quick. Maybe it will speed up. It didn’t. Honestly I think she did fine, but it didn’t seem like a real quickstep to me. Carrie Ann thought this suited her much better than the Salsa. She wants her to break through and not be too reserved. Carrie Ann wants Tony to get closer. Bruno wants her to be engaging. Baz thought it was elegant and beautiful and thought it wasn’t exciting like the Quickstep needs to be. Scores were all 6’s for an 18 out of 30.
Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer have the Quickstep too. He does the splits over her from the audience. Nice toe point during too. He is doing GREAT! Nice high splits and toe point. He is doing wonderfully keeping up and the last trick it looks like Lacey’s hips made him flip in the air and fall. NICE! Bruno called him a great performer if only he could get his feet under control. Baz thought it was an incredible comeback after that first fall. He fell? When? I ddn’t see it. I will have to rewind. Carrie Ann likes how tight and clean he was when he dances. She told him to breathe and relax a little more. I rewound it and I saw him slip, but he recovered nicely. Scores were all 7’s for a 21 out of 30.
Maya and Dmitry Chaplin are jiving tonight. Dmitry is dressed like a nerd and it looks kinda gross. Her turns are spot on and she is doing this wonderfully. Loved this dance! Loved them! Shawn Johnson is on her feet. Wow! Good scores I’m sure. Baz thought it was the real deal - fantastic. He loved the speed, accuracy and loved the story of the dance. Carrie Ann said Len would not have liked the beginning, LOL, but good thing he wasn’t there. She liked everything. Bruno is going on and on with nonsense like usual - he loved it though. Scores were all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30.
Tom DeLay and Cheryl Burke have the Tango. Apparently Tom’s tootsies are hurting him specifically his toes. Let’s see if it hinders him. He certainly has the head motions right and he isn’t giving himself whip lash like he was in practice. The last trick he almost dropped Cheryl but he looks like he is in pain. Carrie Ann says there is something alluring by watching them dance and she calls it odd - she loved it until the end. She told him to “squeeze them together, sir.” LMAO! Bruno said he nearly pulled it out of the bag, but then it went to pieces. Baz thought it was a cliffhanger due to the ending, but loved his hold. Scores were all 6’s for a total of 18 out of 30.
Last but not least is Donny “Gag” Osmond pulling up the rear with the Jive. Will 51 year old Don be able to keep up? He has nice kicks so far. I would like to see more though, but it was a fun dance even for the Gag man. It was entertaining I will say that. Bruno said mission accomplished, well pitched, well executed, and thought it was a very good job. Baz loved that the dance knows no age. He loved it. Carrie Ann called it an amazing performance. Scores were 2 8’s and a 9 from Baz who I think was kissing some A$$ with that score. Total score 25 out of 30.
Loved Aaron Carter this week as well as Maya. Everyone else was just all right for my taste - and I still think Louis and his smile are cute! What are your thoughts?
Dancing with the Stars Week 1 Results
Posted By: admin On: September 28, 2009 Comments: ( 0 )
This will be short and sweet simply because week 2 is coming on tonight. Busy busy time for me - so blogging has taken a back seat. Here we go quickly…
Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel were asked to do the encore dance. An encore dance this soon? hmmm…did we not have any entertainment or Macy’s dancers to fill that slot. LOL! I actually like the encore dances though and think we could have a little less special entertainment if you know what I mean. As Kelly and Louis were finishing and did their special trick at the end I saw her mouth to Louis “I didn’t take my foot off the ground.” She was referring to the “lift” that Carrie Ann called her out on the night before. Anyways - they were just as beautiful as ever.
First safe couple is Chelsie Hightower and Louie Vito (I had to look up his last name again, darn it) . Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff are also safe.
Well apparently our special entertainment hasn’t gone away completely. Shawn or Sean Kingston is now singing and I am fast forwarding. Nice that his album is dropping tomorow - perfect timing.
We now get a taped bit about “the Loser’s Club” which consists of people who got voted off first. LOL! It was actually pretty funny. Good times!
Next safe couple is Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer. Also safe are Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya. Wow, another safe couple (they are revealing a lot) are Donny “Gag” Osmond and Kym Johnson. And after commercial we are gonna get a tribute to Patrick Swayze. Awwww! I love Patrick!
We are now gonna find out who of the men are leaving us. Next 2 safe couples are Tom DeLay and Cheryl Burke. Leaving us out of the men are Ashley Hamilton and Edyta Sliwinska. Dang, is Edyta ever gonna win? That means Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova are safe as well.
Now we get the world premier video of Miley Cyrus’ video - as if I care. Fast Forwarding!!!! Tired of this filler stuff. The results could be 3o min if we didn’t have it, ya know, ABC! Courtney Cox is in the audience promoting her new show. Love me some Courtney!
Next 2 safe couples for the women are: Natalie Coughlin and Alec Mazo as well as Maya and Dmitry Chaplin.
Next taped bit is Adam Corolla coming in on his unicycle giving the men a pep talk. He wants the men to win this season! Adam asked Donny if he brought any smelling salts as Osmonds are prone to faint and then he said btw, Donny, you are 51, when can we start calling you Don? LMAO! He said some other funny stuff and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Macy’s dancers are back are performing Circle of Life from the Lion King. Sorry - no time for this - fast forwarding.
Next 3 safe women are: Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas, Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough, Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Tribute to Patrick Swayzee is up next - awww - am I gonna cry? Probably I’m so incredibly emotional these days. Our pros are dancing and are starting off with “She’s like the Wind” which is the song he sang for Dirty Dancing. Chelsie and Dmitry start us off. It is beautiful. Next is a tribute to Ghost with “Unchained Melody.” Real life married couple, Jonathon Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya are dancing for us now. “The Time of My Life” is up and Cheryl and Tony are showing us the same dance they did in the movie. I am getting chills. Here come the tears. I’m guessing I will never be able to watch Dirty Dancing again without crying. Cheryl just did the lift. Awww - that was great!
Next back to the results - Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel as well as Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani are also safe. Macy Gray and Jonathon Roberts are leaving us.
I’m not surprised at either Ashley or Macy leaving. Are you with me?
Series Premiere of Season 9 DWTS - It’s Ladies Night!
Posted By: admin On: September 25, 2009 Comments: ( 0 )
We start off with a group dance of the pro females and they start it on the floor tonight as opposed to the ceiling. They dance to “She’s a lady” of course. While the ladies are doing their thing and I am not watching for whatever reason, I will say that I hope I stay away for the next 2 hours because I only got 3 hours of sleep last night. I might be doing a lot of fast forwarding. We are now welcoming the season 9 cast yet again. At least they have on different outfits tonight. They introduce the men first and the lovely ladies show us their stuff. What’s funny is I know ALL the women tonight, but didn’t know hardly any of the men ‘cept “puke in mouth” Donny. YUCK! From the first impressions without seeing them dance, Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas might be a favorite because they look pretty cute together. Also by looks only Derek Hough and the only female I don’t know. I’ll figure her name out later. The odd couple out of all of this is Macy Gray and Jonathon Roberts. Dang - ODD looking. She is so incredibly tall. And, I see that Tony Dovolani is once again matched up with “his type”. Look back on all his previous partners (except last season’s Melissa) and you will understand what I am talking about. Let’s see if Kathy Ireland will prove me wrong about “Tony’s type” and be different than say a Jane Seymour or Leeza Gibbons.
First to take the floor are (I don’t know her name had to look it up, but I do know her face from all kinds of TV) Debi Mazar partnered with heartbroken Maksim Chmerkovskiy. They have the Salsa first and in practice she talks a lot which of course annoys him. LOL! They are kind of cute together - I like the banter. She needs to point her toes more and be more graceful. She looks pretty uncomfy in her heels. Her turn was messed up and that messed up her timing and steps. She looks very unsure and looks down a lot. I’m actually surprised she doesn’t have more confidence as she is always portraying the bad girl on TV. Len thinks the hip action was missing, feet were flat, but full of energy and potential. Bruno loved that she worked her boobies (he didn’t call them that) and told her to work on the footing and timing. Carrie Ann said it is tough for the girl and that it lacked character and she thought about the moves too much and whether Maks was gonna yell at her. haha! I bet! Scores were 2 5’s and a 6 from Carrie Ann for a total of 16.
Might I add that I think Samantha’s commentary is a total waste of time. I tune her out. What I really should do is fast forward.
Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas are second. I think she’s put on a little weight since she took her bikini shot for People Magazine, but she still looks great. Who needs to look good in a bikini now anyways - it is fall time? She is dancing the Viennese Waltz and is wearing a nice white elegant gown. This is looking elegant so far. They are dancing to “This is the Time” - a song from American Idol. The only thing I can say about her is she looks a bit timid and doesn’t seem to be really going for it. Otherwise I thought it was pretty graceful and nice. Bruno asked her if she was nervous and he laughs at her, but thought it was prim, proper and adequate, but her shoulders rose up and spoiled the dance. Carrie Ann said she created a few moments that she enjoyed, but it felt a little choppy. Len thought the start was sweet and sickly and he couldn’t stand that, but thought the hold was good. He liked the movement, but the feet were no good. Scores were all 6’s for a total of 18.
Maya and Dmitry Chaplin have the Viennese Waltz this week. All I know is Maya is very pretty, but I must say I do not like the bangs she is sporting in this dance. Now this Viennese Waltz is fluid. They dance to “Vision of Love.” I think she could be here quite long because she seems to have what it takes - this is beautiful. I’m glad for Dmitry since he had such a terrible partner last season in Holly Madison. Carrie Ann said she set the bar tonight calling it gorgeous. Len is in a predicament, as he didn’t like the three bars in hold, he said it was NOT a Viennese Waltz. Bruno disagrees calling it artistry and how magnificent she was. He is flippin’ mad at Len. The crowd agrees with Bruno. Len said Dmitry let her down by not doing the Viennese Waltz. Tom asked Len if he has been to three bars tonight. bwahahaha! Good one, Tom. Their scores were 2 8’s and a 5 from Len for a total of 21. That Len!
Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani have the Salsa and apparently she is doing the show to lose weight, get moving, and be happy. She does have some big boobies and Tony is trying to get her to shimmy them which she is NOT able to even do that. She is gorgeous tonight, but what is up with Tony’s pants? They are way too long covering his feet. In fact you can almost bend the pants over his shoes once or twice. How he can dance in those is beyond me. Tony does his signature dip where she bends backward and he catches her neck. That is getting old, Tony. He also did the same move where she goes between his legs - the same move he did with Stacy Keibler. Oh and I was exaggerating on how far you could bend his pants over his shoes - only once folks. It started off good, but it lost steam in the middle and end. She was actually better than what I thought though at least based on practice and how uncoordinated she is. Len said it lacked energy and it was too careful. Bruno said she didn’t sell the Salsa, no hip action or sex. Carrie Ann complimented her posture, but told her to let go and to loosen up. Scores were 2 5’s and a 6 from Carrie Ann for a total of 16.
Natalie Coughlin and Alec Mazo also have the Salsa. I’m anxious to see what this Olympic swimmer can do out of the water. Aren’t you? Backstage Natalie and Alec are warming their arms up like swimmers always do - the funny thing is she is in her salsa costume which makes it kinda cute. She gets frustrated easily because she is so used to being the best. She has issues with facial expressions because she is so intense. Here we go… She starts off with great hips and carries that throughout. It was missing the sex though as Bruno said before. She did a nice flip over Alec’s back which was kind of cool for week 1. To me the dance lacked movement on the floor, but I thought she was pretty good and is full of potential. She also smiled throughout. Bruno said one day she could make it on the dance, but told her she freezes mid performance, but she has what it takes to become a great dancer. Carrie Ann called her a diamond in the rough, but told her to sink into the beat. Len is bewildered and can’t understand how the gorgeous girls aren’t knocking his socks off with the Salsa. Carrie Ann chimed in with “b/c you are getting old” and leans over and hugs Len. haha! Scores were 2 6’s and a 7 for a total of 19.
Macy Gray and Jonathon Roberts have the Viennese Waltz. I know Macy is off the wall, but man she seems like she is on something. She’s a singer and not supposed to be a comedian, I find her behavior hilarious. Jonathon called her eccentric. I totally agree. She is touring while trying to learn her routine. Should be interesting. She’s got the right type of face on which is good. They dance to “Natural Woman.” She opens her mouth a little much though and she looks like she is in dreamland sometimes, but this is really better than what I thought. She doesn’t act like she cares and is letting loose. Would I say it was elegant? Not really, but she did flow nicely! Carrie Ann said WOW it was fascinating and couldn’t go there on technique, but loved the performance. Len said Carrie Ann was correct and loved the vulnerability and charm and if he was at home, he’d be voting for her. Bruno said it was like watching a child take its first steps into a new world saying she touched people’s hearts, but to work on technique. In her interview with Samantha she cussed and they bleeped it out. The live audience is laughing and Carrie Ann is hunched over the judges table laughing her arse off. haha! Scores were 4, 5, and 6 for a total of 15. Oh and she said something about popping a cherry. Bruno and Carrie Ann could barely get their scores out. Fun times.
Model Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough are next. No wonder Derek broke up with Shannon Elizabeth. Look at Joanna! They have the salsa. She has on bright yellow fringe pants and barely a top, but she sure is HOT! Ok, they have sex appeal and nice hip action. Ok, I LOVED THEM! They are HOT HOT HOT! Len looks happy because at least because it was a hot, smokin’ Salsa. Bruno said it was sexy, saucy and what a salsa should be. Carrie Ann agreed calling it hot and loves her confidence. They loved Derek’s choreography. Scores were all 8’s for a 24. They are in the lead!
Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel have the Viennese Waltz. I’m anxious to see her do this actually. Glad to see Louis back. He has been choreographing on So You Think You Can Dance and has done some amazing work over there. Love him! Kelly calls herself crap as a dancer in practice. I laughed out loud. She doesn’t like sweating in practice. I totally agree, Kelly! Anyways, lets see her moves…so far I see elegance wow! Nice movement across the floor. Louis is known to be a fast mover so it will be interesting to see her keep up. They used her dress as a prop and I loved it. He did lift her which I don’t know if it is allowed, but wow, it was great. Sharon and Ozzy were in the audience and they were just as proud as can be. Sharon looks like she might be crying. Kelly runs over and hugs her Dad and Sharon doesn’t want a hug, but she does look moved. Bruno said he couldn’t believe his eyes and loved how she transformed into a vision of grace. Carrie Ann said Mom and Dad should be proud and she welcomed Louis back to the show, but she is docking them for the lift. Len thought it was the best Viennese Waltz of the night. Ozzy stood for that. Yeah! I am liking Kelly and Louis. Kelly is crying back stage and said that is the most fun she’s ever had in her life. Scores were 2 8’s and a 7 from the lift police for a total of 23.
Relay dances are up next. All the females that had ballroom will now have a Latin dance and vice versa. Let’s see Kelly get raunchy, shall we? First up are Debi, Natalie, Kathy, and Joanna. They are dancing the Foxtrot. 10 points for first place, 8 points for 2nd place, 6 points for 3rd place, and 4 points for last place. Remember they are competing for rank. First up is Natalie Coughlin and Alex Mazo and she looks great! She has nice toe point and glides nicely. Next is Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani and I think this dance suits her better, but her trick at the end did not fly. Joanna is next with some crazy hair and it seems like Latin is more her thing as she wasn’t as graceful. Debi Mazar and Maksim bring up the rear and Makim seems like he is carrying her like she can’t keep up at the beginning, but she finished nice and fast and ended with a lift. Legal lift? I don’t know? Carrie Ann pointed out the lift and said it was smart b/c she can’t take off points. She loved Joann and said she was elegant, sexy and hot. She thought Kathy looked like she was going to the Oscars, but that her footwork was too small for her height. She thought Natalie did excellent and Debi needed to tone back muscling Maks. Len thought Natalie danced it well and told Kathy to move it a little more. Joanna had a good mix of hold and breaking the hold. And complimented Maks on the hold. Bruno loved Natalie’s fluidity and wanted Kathy to come out a bit more. He said Joanna was still smoking and Debi is a great performer, but she needs to control her energy. Ranks are as follows: 4th place - Kathy and Tony, 3rd place - Debi and Maks, 2nd place - Natalie and Alec, and 1st place is Joanna and Derek.
Next relay dance consists of Macy, Kelly, Maya and Melissa Joan Hart dancing the Cha Cha Cha. I’m really anxious to see Kelly and Macy from this group. Starting first is Macy Gray and Jonathon Roberts. Her mouth is wide open. She is a bit awkward, but she is doing the moves. Melissa Jon and Mark are next and she is just too cute. She is REALLy good here and ended with a great trick. Maya and Dmitry are third and are quick. She looks the most natural and will probably get first. She’s too darn cute. Kelly and Louis are pulling up the rear. They are QUICK! She kept up just fine. Nice hips and missed a step at the end, but ended wonderfully. I think they will get second. Len said Macy’s busy schedule has caught up with her here, thought Melissa’s was higher level, loved Maya’s hips and content on the routine, and said Kelly produced 2 first class dances. Bruno said Macy had better timing, liked Melissa having fun, loved Maya’s footwork, and he can’t believe what Kelly is doing. Carrie Ann said Macy needs to work harder on capturing the essence of the cha cha, loves Melissa coming out of her shell, Maya said it was crisp but kick was flailing, loved Kelly. Hmm..maybe Kelly will get first place. Ranks are as follows: 4th place - Macy Gray and Jonathon Roberts, 3rd place - Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas, 2nd place - Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel, 1st place - Maya and Dmitry Chaplin.
So, out of the ladies I really like Kelly and Louis, Maya and Dmitry, Joanna and Derek, and Melissa and Mark. I think the women have the men beat! What do you think?
Remember, I haven’t watched the results yet so don’t give it away. shhh…. will blog about that tomorrow if I have time.
Series Premiere of Season 9 DWTS - Macho Monday!
Posted By: admin On: September 24, 2009 Comments: ( 0 )
We get to see the macho men first on premier night. Now why didn’t they let the ladies go first? Saving the best for last I presume. LOL! All the male pro dancers start from the ceiling while we listen to “The Boys are Back in Town.” I just don’t know if I can stand so much hunka hunka burnin’ man love in one place at one time. Someone hold me back please! Hey Louis Van Amstel is back as is our regulars Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Alek Mazo, Dmitry Chaplan, and Jonathon Roberts. I just don’t know if I can stand so much testosterone so soon. Ok, ok, I’m kidding. They are dancing the jive and pull some blonde attractive, but timid female out of the audience and dance around her. Boy she looks embarrassed. ha! It was a fun performance though.
Then we get our stars and pro’s introduced. If there is anything newsworthy here then I will post it. I will have to admit that with all my personal life issues going on, I really don’t even know much about this cast nor do I know how to spell their names so bare with me and please feel free to correct me if I don’t have something quite right. I will say this right off the bat - I am NOT a Donny Osmond fan! I may puke in my mouth if he goes far in this competition. Isn’t having one Osmond on the show enough? For a moment there I thought Melissa Joan Hart was Julianne Hough. Nope. Wonder how far Cheryl Burke is gonna get with her old man of a partner. I’m not even sure of his name. I’ll figure it out soon enough.
First up is Aaron Carter and heartbreaker, Karina Smirnoff, who I’m sure mostly everyone knows broke up with Maksim and literally tore his heart to shreds. Ok, I don’t know this intimately but I did read in People Magazine that he is quite upset about the breakup. I’m not sure what he saw in her - her voice is annoying enough. Anyways, back to Aaron and Karina. Since he is a pop star, I pretty much can guess he can dance and should be a contender at the end given this fact and also he has “the look” factor that young and old girls alike just love. So, before even seeing him dance, I predict him to go pretty far. Let’s see shall we? They dance the cha cha cha. Aaron is a huge flirt in rehearsals and I bet she is just eating that up! In one rehearsal he is even wearing a blank tanktop that comes down over his pecs. It looks very um…well, hmmm…how should I put this..nevermind. They dance to “Beggin’” which is something I am all too familiar with in my personal life. Ah, nevermind. He looks pretty precise so far with the typical cha cha moves. The only thing I didn’t see much of was hip action. I saw some typical Cha Cha moves, but not a lot of hips. Let’s see if the judges agree. Looks like Aaron has the support of some Backstreet Boys - why wouldn’t he? His bro is in the band. Whatev - onto the judges - Len couldn’t call them first class, but said it was full of potential and a bit stiff. Bruno said it was sharp and edgy and said he has a lot of potential, but to control it. Carrie Ann said he’s all grown up and looking good, it was a way to start out the night, but his feet were funky and it was great. Scores were 2 7’s and an 8 from Len for a total of 22.
Second in line is Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya. Chuck is a Mixed Martial Artist. I didn’t even know who he was. Sorry, Chuck. They have the foxtrot first. From the practice footage it looks like he is a gentle giant. I hope he does well b/c I kinda like him. They dance to “That’s Life”. He is sporting a mohawk that is closely shaven btw. Can’t say I dig that look. He looks scared to death. Ahh..I feel for him I really do. There isn’t much emotion in his face ‘cept for maybe terror. Oh wow - this guy doesn’t have much rhythm, but he sure is trying. The ending was pretty great and someone threw his hat and he put it back on. Good ending. I give him props for at least making an attempt. The crowd loved it. Bruno said it was very, very rough and he’s got a little bit of work to do. Carrie Ann said he is not graceful yet, but he is smooth and charming. He needs to work on footwork and find the purpose behind the movement. Len said it was much better than what he thought and wants him to get in touch with his feminine side. Scores were 2 5’s and a 6 from Carrie Ann for a total of 16.
Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer are on deck. I don’t know who Mark Dacascos is so hopefully they will show me something to freshen up my memory. And nope, I still don’t know who he is - I don’t get out much I guess. He’s kind of fun, but I hope he doesn’t run the whole kung fu persona in the ground because I have a feeling it will get old. They dance the cha cha cha and of course they have to dance to “Kung Fu Fighting.” See…already running it into the ground. His hips are way looser than Aarons. I don’t know if you noticed, but Lacey does too many things with her mouth. Watch her the next time…it could just be the Latin dances, I don’t know. We’ll see. They did fairly well in my opinion. He had a lot of nice high kicks and he seemed pretty limber on his feet. Carrie Ann thinks he has a lot of potential, but a little lacking is the arms pointing out the kung fu style. Then Len just interrupts her and starts talking which I thought was interesting. He said he doesn’t want to see Kung Fu in every dance which is EXACTLY what I was saying up above. Bruno pointed out something about the heels and toes. I don’t know as I wasn’t really listening. Scores were all 7’s for a 21 out of 30.
Ashley Hamilton, following in his father George’s footsteps, is partnered with Edyta Sliwinska who also partnered with George. Did you catch that? Father and son had the same pro. Wonder how he will measure up to his Pops? I do know this - he is pretty attractive and with Edyta - hot damn! One thing I don’t like his is tatoo sleeve - ick a loo! I don’t know much about him ‘cept the part about his famous Pops, but apparently had had an accident where he didn’t know if he could walk again. Interesting. Let’s see how he does with this Foxtrot as the practice looked pretty hairy. Ok, he’s not as cute as I thought he was - at least here. He looks a bit nerdy if you will or sissy-fied. He certainly doesn’t have the showmanship of his dad. He was a bit stiff and too controlled. Seemed like he was really embarrassed and shy. Len thought his footwork was correct, but it was just too rough. Bruno said it lacked showmanship which I totally agree with (see above, LOL). Carrie Ann thought nothing defined him or separated him from the rest. Scores were 4 from Bruno and a 5 and 6 from the others for a total of 15. Dang!
Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson have the foxtrot and backstage as he was kicking his feet up like an idiot I was reminded why I can’t stand him. Geez - please be the first voted off, pretty please. I am prepared to gag at least once during this. Let’s see - They dance to “All That Jazz”. Well what Ashley was lacking (showmanship), Donnie has tons of (did we think otherwise?). Well I will say this - I think he is WAY better than Marie, but that little display at the end thinking he was hotter than $hit is what turns me off about it. GAG! Bruno said he can play the audience like a fiddle, BUT his shoulders were bad. Carrie Ann agreed with Bruno. Len thought he did very well, but it was too theatrical and needs more ballroom. bwahahaha, Donny. Scores were 2 7’s and a 6 from Len for a total of 20.
Another person I don’ t know is snowboarding champion, Louie Vito who is partnered with cutie Chelsie Hightower. They look cute together. He said he has never watched an episode of DWTS and doesn’t know what he is in for. Hmmm..how could you not? Have you lived under a rock, Louie? Well one thing is true - he has no idea what he is in for. He also has the foxtrot which is interesting because they usually don’t have 2 ballroom dances back to back. Ok, here we go - could be a disaster or a surprising good time. I love this song - and 80’s song then remade by Gwen Stefani. Too bad I can’t think of the name - it will come to me. Louie is just too darn cute. His smile just melts me. Oh the song title is “It’s my Life” if you were interested. Well I thought it was cute. I don’t care what anyone says. I think they might be my favorite couple for now.
Carrie Ann was surprised (as was I) and thought he respected the dance, but to watch the slipping. Len poked fun at his hair BOO!
He did like his technique, hold and posture. Bruno thought it was so cute comparing him to a dancing hobbitt, but it lacked fluidity. Scores were 2 6’s and a 7 for a total of 19. I thought it was better than a 19 and who noticed those slips when all you could focus on was his cute smile. I don’t know.
NFL hall of famer, Michael Irvin (I’m ashamed to admit, but I don’t know him either) is partnered with new pro chosen by America last season, Anna Demidova. He said the reason he wanted to do the show was because of Jerry Rice (his lifetime rival). LOL! He is having hip problems and Anna gives him a hoola hoop and he does it so violently that I wasn’t watching his hips so much, but his face. He did weird stuff wtih his tongue that just made me giggle out loud. He knows Jerry’s score on his cha cha (21) so all he wants to do is get a 22. This could be funny and I hope it continues especially long enough for Jerry to do Dance Center. They dance to “I Feel Good” by James Brown. He starts it off with James Brown moves and the crowd eats it up. I thought it was actually pretty good. Very entertaining and he wasn’t stiff at all. Thought they did great. Len does NOT agree with me stating it needs to get slicker with more content. Bruno called him a crowd pleaser, but stating the footwork and timing wasn’t right. Carrie Ann thought he beat Jerry Rice at the charisma, but thinks Anna needs to fill it with more dance moves. Scores were 2 4’s and a 5 from Carrie Ann for a total of 13. BOO! Double BOO! I don’t agree.
Tom DeLay is partnered with Cheryl Burke. Yes, Yes, I don’t know who he is either. I just read his bio and apparently he is in politics. I don’t follow politics. I know, shame on me. Whatev! OH no! They have the cha cha cha and he is wearing these sweat pants that go up to his boobs in practice. It is really grossing me out. Sorry, Tom! Ick! One thing is for sure - I had a smile on my face the entire time. I don’t know - it was a bit embarrassing, but man, I give him major props for going out there and selling it. It was entertaining, but I’m not sure if it was in a good way for me. I do know that Cheryl will not become a 3-time winner. Is that too early to say? Nope, I don’t think so. Bruno called him crazier than Sarah Palin. haha! He didn’t think it was too bad. Carrie Ann thought it was surreal and thought the basic was very nice. Len thought the cha cha cha part was very good, but the other stuff he didn’t enjoy. Scores were 2 5’s and a 6 from Carrie Ann for a total of 16.
Now we have something new - relay dance thing. I don’t get it. We have a first group doing the Salsa who compete against each other. There are 4 couples in this group. I guess it is allowing us to see them side by side (at least some of them). In the first group are Donny Osmond, Chuck Liddell, Louie Vito, and Ashley. Poor Ashley is so stiff. Chuck is more limber and actually looks like he is having fun. He had a trick too where he spun around and his leg caught Anna and well it looked like it was gonna flop, but good ole Anna caught it and saved it. Donny came out in his usual Donny self and thought he was all that and a bag of chips. He was limber on his feet. And here comes Louie doing flips across the floor. I think I really like him! Love him and Chelsie! Yeppers. Carrie Ann said Donny smoked them. BOO! Carrie Ann thought Chuck knew how to work a woman and thought Louie was fun. Len said about Ashley that only a father could love his routine and he loved Donnie. Bruno also loved Donnie (gag!), he didn’t know Chuck had that in him and told Ashley to work more on it. They will get ranking scores meaning who comes in first, second and third. 4th place - Ashely, 3rd place - Chuck, 2nd place - Louie, 1st place - Donnie. Gross!
Second relay consists of the rest of the men. You can figure that out can’t you? Yeah! This group is dancing the Viennese Waltz and consists of Aaron, Mark, Michael, and Tom. First up is Aaron Carter who is actually pretty good at this dance. The only thing I didn’t like was his fish face. You know what I mean with the sunken in cheeks. Not sure what that was about. Dancing second in this relay is Mark Dacascos who looks a bit uncomfy here with some sloppy posture and stocatto movements. Remember, it needs to be fluid. Tom DeLay is third (he thought they were going last as he likes to watch the competition) and he isn’t too bad. I think the ballroom dances will be his type of dances ‘cept for maybe the Quickstep. Pulling up the rear is Michael Irvin who did ok I suppose. The crowd loved it. Len thought Tom was a bit skippy for him and thought Mark had control. Bruno thought Aaron took the stage and worked the flow and loved Mark’s line, called Tom skippy, and said Michael was better. Carrie Ann though Michael was much better. She liked Aaron’s lines and thought Mark needed to breathe. Last season’s winner (Shawn Johnson) and runner up (Gilles Marini) are sitting in the audience. I’m guessing Cheryl wishes she had Gilles back. Nice to see them! Rankings were as follows: 4th - Tom Delay, 3rd - Michael Irvin, 2nd- Mark Dacascos, 1st - Aaron Carter.
Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff are at the top of the leader board and tying for the bottom spot with 19 points are Ashley Hamilton and Edyta Sliwinska as well as Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova.
Stay tuned for tomorrow night when I blog about the ladies. I promise I will get caught up soon. These season premiers are just so darn long. Geez. Tell me who your faves are. I’m dying to know if anyone loves Louie’s smile more than me. Ta Ta until tomorrow night…oh, and don’t give away who got voted off. I am behind, remember?
