It seems like just yesterday I was enjoying watching Adam Carolla and Steve Guttenberg and now here we are at the end of the line. Our stars, Kristi Yamaguchi, Jason Taylor, and Cristian de la Fuente are fighting for the mirror ball. I predict Kristi Yamaguchi will win.
I love the idea of this Cha Cha Cha face off. Cristian de la Fuente opens. He and Cheryl Burke look amazing in magenta and the danced is sassy and up beat. Again Cristian is not favoring his pseudo injured arm at all. Moving on to Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska, not nearly as sexy as their predecessors. I don’t especially like the choreography and Jason is a little out of sorts in the beginning. He looks uncomfortable and even sloppy at some points. They messed up a turn at the end. Kristi Yamaguchi starts out their round by planting a big kiss on Bruno’s lips!!! She and Mark Ballas are amazing, the best and most complex choreography so far. Also, they are moving the fastest and having the most fun. They end with all six and Kristi in a big lift, it looked fabulous!! When the three stars were dancing side by side you could clearly see how much better Kristi was than the boys.
Len loved the whole thing saying Cristian had all the gear in the rear!! He said Jason was ok, but Latin was not really his thing and that Kristi was the complete package. Bruno in his sparkley suit with Kristi’s lipstick on his nose said he could see Cristian de la Fuente’s improvement, Jason Taylor had some issues and Kristi Yamaguchi was in a class all her own. Carrie got serious calling Cristian fantastic but that his posture was clipped. She said Jason was not so great and had awkward arms and that it was ladies night, Kristi win it hands down!! I agree, Kristi was by far the best.
After milking the sympathy vote for his injury again, Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke got two 9’s and an 8 from Carrie for a total of 26. Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska get three 8’s for a 24, not good for a finale dance. Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas get three 10’s for a perfect score of 30!!!
I missed the opening of the show, which I assume was just recap nation-but let me say now that Samantha Harris’ dress is gold, very gold and looks to be made out of some weird fabric that will crack if she bends too much…yuck.
I am very excited about the freestyle round. Lots of lifts and fun stuff always, this is the best part of the competition. My new second favorite is the face off, they should definitely bring that back each season. They bring in Julianne Hough to help Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas rehearse, they look great.
Kristi and Mark are up first do the freestyle round. They begin in Pajamas and do a sassy quick change into sparkley outfits and cool Converse dance shoes. Lots of lifts, Mark is just tossing her all around the stage. The dance is really hip hoppy, which may bother Len. It is good, crisp and fun to watch but does seem kind of frantic which gets them all the time. Bruno loved it he said they did not miss a beat and that it was very complex. Carrie said she was a big crowd pleaser and she loved it. Len starts out by saying she is not a lover of hip hop, but loved this and it held his interest from beginning to end and that he, “absolutely loved it.” They get a perfect score of 30 again!! Is this a first for a finale, a perfect 60??? I think it is a record, as Kristi and Carrie said GIRL POWER!!!
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are up next. I assume after that so-so Cha Cha Cha he is feeling nervous. They show him drop Edyta a couple of times in rehearsal. They bring his super cute kids into rehearsal, fun times. Eydta is wearing a beach hat and Jason is bouncing a giant beach ball for the dance. He first dumps the ball and then strips Edyta’s dress off to reveal a bikini. The music is an homage to Miami-no doubt a ploy for votes from his Dolphins fans. This is really all hip hop, some cute lifts but not much chemistry. I think they are going to get slammed for it being too much hip hop. In the end Eydta yanked off Jason’s shirt, gotta love that! That was not food enough to win, but everyone is on their feet for the nakedness. Carrie called it fantastic and loved the lifts. Len also liked the lift and said he could see them in South Beach, Jason in his speedo and Len in his thong…hahaha. Bruno was nice also saying it was like a centerfold. No way they got any 10’s for that. Samantha asks a long winded question, then cuts of Jason’s answer. They got three 9’s for a 27. More questions and cut off answers.
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke are bringing up the rear in the freestyle round. More rehearsal shots and playing up the so called sore arm. They even have melodramatic music when he hurts his arm in practice, I kind of think he is a douchebag. They are all decked out in chartreuse and are working the Latin music and moves. So far, this dance looks the most like ballroom, which is really nice. Yeah, I like it and the lifts are exciting because I think he could drop her at any moment. However, this was not truly much of a freestyle but more of a glorified Latin montage. I liked it better than Jason’s dance. Len said he did not think some of the lifts were up to par with the other dancers. Bruno said for one arm he did “bloody well.” Carrie said that she did not compare to Kristi, that it was not what they were maybe looking for for a winner. They get two 9’s and an 8 from Len (yikes) for a total of 26. Cheryl said she was very happy, but her body language said otherwise.
Easily, Kristi Yamaguchi was the winner tonight. Let’s pull in the votes for the first female winner in five years!!!!!!!!!

Well we get to see some practices and we learn that the dancers will face off doing a cha cha cha. Also there’s a shameless Bachelorette plug b/c our Bachelorette Deanna is panned to in the audience. I’m sure Tom will bring light to that shortly. Jane Seymour, Sabrina Bryan, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Tony Dovolani, Mel B. and Marlee Matlin are also in the audience.
But, first things first. First impressions - I think Samantha Harris looks lovely tonight in gold. Edyta needs more clothes as usual. Jason has a sleeveless vest on that matches his skin tone - lovely. Cristin is in hot pink with his entire shirt open - got any buttons on that shirt? Kristi is decked out in white/gray/black fringe and Mark has on what looks like sheer lingerie up top. LOL! Tom makes fun of the several gallons of spray tan mostly on Edyta - haha! Good one, Tom. I wonder how white Edyta really is. I guess she has to pour it on to match her partner’s natural color. And the crowd is absolutely going nuts with the help of Cristian and Jason getting them going.
First up is the cha cha cha face off. They only have a minute to show their stuff. They drew mirror balls to see who would go first. Cristian was first, Jason 2nd and Kristi 3rd. Jason was happy about being second b/c of seeing his competition in Cristian and not having to go after Kristi. Kristi wants to steal the show. Cristian is shown practicing first and they’ve been practicing all these crazy moves. It doesn’ t look like it is going so well. Same with Jason. Mark gets on her for doing something with her face. And he is one to talk? haha! All of them practiced together and Mark and Kristi kept their cards close to their chest and only showed 30 seconds of their dance..niiice! Anyways, commercial…
We’re baaaack! Cha Cha Face off is here. You could tell Cristian has some arm issues in this dance. They dance to Dancing on the Ceiling by Lionel Richie. He does have some nice hip action though and they have a nice move at the end looking like they might fall. Edyta and Jason are next and the music continues. They get down and sexy, but he wasn’t as fluid as Cristian, but he did do the splits over Edyta’s shoulders - niice. It seems like they missed something too on their last move, but they ended ok. Kristi came out and kissed Bruno who wasn’t ready for her - and it looked like he mouthed “I love you!” haha! The crowd was screaming and so was I. She looks like the champion to me - for sure. Mark is so fast and precise with his movements. She couldn’t have gotten paired with a better professional partner. The threesome (Mark, Kristi, and Cristian) looked like they had a blast out there as did the professional dancers. They ended with a HUGE lift with Kristi in the air - WOWSERS! Loved it.
Len said it really got him going - it was fantastic. Cristian has great hips, rhythm and all the gear at the rear. Jason - eleganance and style, but he felt sorry for him b/c it wasn’t a ballroom dance. Kristi - technique and style, hips and rhythm - the complete package. Bruno has Kristi’s lipstick under his nose still - hahaha! He said Cristian banged like the best, Jason is very athletic, but off in timing, but Kristi was a class all her own. Carrie Ann mentioned again that we’ve never done this type of thing before - she thought Cristian was fantastic, but said the injury seems like is affecting his posture, said the same about Jason that the others, Kristi won it hands down - IT’S LADIES NIGHT! HoooooHAAAA!
Cristian and Cheryl’s scores were an 8 from Carrie Ann and 2 9’s from Len and Bruno for a total of 26 out of 30. Jason and Edyta’s scores were all 8’s for a total of 24 out of 30. Kristi and Mark’s scores are all 10’s for a total of 30 out 30. They win this cha cha face off.
Here’s the shameless plug for the Bachelorette by Tom - I KNEW IT! Of course I am tivo-ing it because I love the Bachelor and -ette. First up doing freestyle is Kristi and Mark - Kristi is concerned of Mark’s shoulder. I don’t know why Mark sounds like he has a British accent sometimes. Could be because he lived in London for some time, but seriously - what’s up with that? Julianne Hough came into the studio to show some lift action and we get to see a crotch shot. My fiance said it and then said - they should edit that out. LOL! Anyways, Julianne and Mark used to be partners and they used to date as well when they were younger. Plus they were in a teenie bopper band with her brother Derek - just some trivia as we build up to the freestyle routine with Kristi and Mark - ok here we go…
They come out in jammies and rip off their clothes to reveal sequins and converse shoes. They have lots of lifts and do the moonwalk - while Mark gets up on his toes just like MJ (Michael Jackson). They have a lot of Michael move in this. She flips him over and he does a blackflip - WOW! She looks majorly out of breath and looked like the lift at the end was a challenge - they kiss on the lips (a peck) and then fall to the ground. She looks exhausted. The crowd is LOVIN’ it and so did Jane Seymour! Bruno said it was so demanding and she didn’t miss a beat - worthy of the championship for him. Carrie Ann said she was the big crowd pleaser - loved it. Len isn’t in love with hip hop when it is in a latin dance - his attention was held though - it was slick, quick, had abundance of energy and he absolutely loved it. Bruno hugged him and said YES!!! We turned him. hahaha! Cute. I smell lots of 10’s. Scores were all 10’s for another 30 out of 30. Mark picks her up and swings her round and round. The judges are setting her up for a win, but will America pull through?
Jason and Edyta are up next with their freestyle. Edyta wants to make it and out of control freestyle. Edyta said this is the first time she’s made it to the finals - they do lots of lifts and he drops her lots - poor Edyta. Bet she has lots of bruises. Jason’s cute kids and wife Katina come by. They are all such beautiful people including Edyta. OMG! Jason did a cartwheel. I wish I could do one. I am inspired to do one now - him being so big. They come out with a HUGE beachball and he kicks it out to the audience. Edyta is wearing a cute sundress and hat - he rips it of and she is scantly clad again. They do some hip hop and some HIGH lifts. She rips his shirt off at the end too. It was hot, but wasn’t as good as Kristi’s in my opinion. He was definitely cute though and shook his lower half quite well. The crowd loves it too and Tom is telling Bruno to calm down - hmmm..wonder why?
Carrie Ann said she loved the ending - she started off saying it is good to see Edyta in the finals. Carrie Ann said who knew? - Jason can get funky - the lifts were ambitious. Len loved the lifts and the humor. Len said he can see Jason and him at South Beach - Jason in his speedos and Len in his thong - I ABOUT DIED LAUGHING SO HARD! I had to put it on pause just to laugh my A$$ off on that one. Tom said he had to rub that image out of his head and Bruno said he isn’t going to have dinner tonight after that..hahaha! Bruno said he was watching centerfolds, it was fun, funky and full of great lifts. And Samantha just cut off Jason - How rude! He got all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30. Tom said it was like an interview in haiku - LMAO! It was - she cut Edyta off too. Dang Samantha. haha! It was quite funny.
Last up is Cristian and Cheryl with their freestyle - lifts will be limited with this one armed bandit. Let’s see how he compares. He injures his arm in practice, but he bounced back and continues - he said he doesn’t want sympathy, but I’m afraid he might just get it. Cheryl brought her trophy to practice so he can keep his eye on the prize - hmmm…Here they go - they start off shakin’ it and dancing to a Mexican song. He is doing a one arm lift and just did another one that they’ve performed before. Cristian loved it, but I wasn’t impressed with it. I know, I know - he only had one arm, but it wasn’t as good as what I’ve seen Cheryl do in other freestyles and I wasn’t AS impressed as the other 2.
Len mentioned his challenges with the lifts - he said their lifts weren’t up to the standards of the other two. Bruno said for one arm he did bloody well and he loved how their latin flavor was captured. Carrie Ann said she saw a winner in Cristian in so many other ways (just not dancing) b/c she did say they didn’t compare to Kristi. Yep, my thoughts exactly. Their scores were 2 9’s and an 8 from Len for a total of 26 out of 30. Cristian called on Latino power. Samantha said to Cheryl “You’ve got to be happy with that” and Cheryl said “very happy” but her face showed it all - she did not LOOK very happy at all and was simply being PC about it.
Final Leaderboard
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 60 out of 60
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke 52 out of 60
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 51 out of 60
Ok, people I have to tell you - please vote for the best dancer. Don’t let sympathy play into it. Vote for the best dancer. It was obvious who that was tonight, folks - so blatantly obvious. Go Kristi!!

Only four remain, fighting to the finish!! Yeah, I wish it was that exciting. They did a “random draw” to pick the dances for tonight, I wonder how random it actually was. Samantha is wearing a hideous dress tonight, is the pattern camouflage?? Yuck. Whoa, Cheryl Burke is dressed like a dancing silver robot. Back to Samantha, that is one awful dress, it has a bunch of structure to the bustier type top and some sort of 1980’s bubble skirt stuff, the worst dress of the season for sure.
We start with Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska. Alyssa wanted to know why I hate her. Number one, because she was Cameron Mathison’s partner and I hate him with every ounce of my being. Number two, I hate the way she is always throwing her legs up in the air and posing like some kind of skinny statue, you have great legs Edyta, we get it OK??? Number three, she was Mathison’s partner, aaarrgh!! First dance after some dumb football schtick and they are doing the Foxtrot. It is a cute routine and Jason is doing some fun acting that I truly enjoy. Edyta does a lot of unnecessary leg kicks and poses, but otherwise it is nice and fluid. They really got lucky to do this dance, I think it was his best of the season. Standing ovation that includes Emmit Smith, nice. Len said he glided around the ballroom like a dolphin in the sea. Bruno said he was lucky to have Edyta as a choreographer, Carrie loved it too. One 10 from Len and stingy 9’s from Carrie and Bruno for a 28.
Marissa Jaret Winokur is up and Tony Dovolani brings in Stacy Kiebler for inspiration…yeah Marissa and Stacy are comparable. Marissa practices her Rumba and makes silly faces that could not look any less sexy. They start with the Quickstep and Marissa flashes that signature 1000 watt smile that all the little old ladies love. The dance is actually sort of impressive, Marissa and Tony do a cool spinning thing that is better than I expected from her. I think there was one spot where she flubbed but I might be mistaken and it sure seemed like they were in the ending pose an hour or so before the dance ended. Bruno notes that she did miss a step, I called it folks. Marissa held back tears over the criticism. Carrie loved it. Len said it was faster and more technical than the other dances her competitors were doing but that the one criticism he had was a lack of body contact. Backstage Samantha Harris fumbles through an interview and Marissa pretends that she and Stacy are good friends. Two 9’s and an 8 from the honest judge Bruno for a total of 26. Marissa said it was, “the hardest dance I have ever, ever done!!” Puke.
Back at the show, I love the short commercial breaks, I hardly have time to surf. Cristian de la Fuente is third and they picked the Viennese Waltz and the Samba. The Samba is the dance he got injured on and he feigns being nervous about it. Cristian and Cheryl Burke take to the streets for votes and Cristian seems to like the large chested ladies!! They do the Viennese Waltz first to Satellite by the Dave Mathews Band…you have got to be kidding me. Cristian is not favoring his fake injured arm hardly at all. So far this dance is not doing much for me, Cristian is acting nervous and uncomfortable. They do a neat spin but the whole thing is slow and anti climactic as far as I am concerned. Carrie Ann Inaba opens the judges comments, she loves it. Len said it was better than last time and Bruno also loved it. Tom Bergeron made fun of Cheryl’s dress asking if anyone was missing a weather balloon. I love Tom Bergeron. Three 9’s for a total of 27. Cheryl said her plan for getting to the finals was not to hurt Cristian’s other arm, haha.
Kristi Yamaguch and Mark Ballas dance fourth they pick the Tango and the Jive. I loved their Jive last time and I agree it will be hard to top. They went to a high level dance class for criticism, this was almost interesting. The do the Tango first and it starts of sharp and interesting, it made me sit up and really pay attention. I think there was a misstep in the beginning and Kristi let a smile peek through, not good in a Tango. The footwork is complex and interesting and I love that they use all of the dance floor. The precision that she is able to bring to the dance floor is unparalleled in this competition. Len can hardly get his critique out because of all the cheering. Len said that sometimes it was a little bit hectic, Bruno is appalled at this comment. You could hear Bruno saying wow as soon as his mic was turned on. Carrie tried to stand up and almost lost her dress during her positive critique. They get two 10’s and a 9 from Len for a total of 29.
Len goes to visit the couples for their Latin round turn. It is always fun to see Len out of his judges hat. First up is Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska, Len says last time there was too much posing…AHEM!!!!! Len does some stomping around with her. Len shows Kristi Yamaguchi how to move her leg correctly without leaping, for her Jive and then shows she and Mark a new step. Next stop is Cristian de la Fuente and Charyl Burke, love seeing Len dance with Cristian. He then dances with Cheryl and Cristian gives them a 7. Next up is Marissa Jaret Winokur, does Len really have enough time to help her? Kym Johnson did a little Bond girl cameo in the end.
The first couple in the Latin round is Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska doing the Paso Doble. Edyta is nearly naked and Jason is wearing a very silly gold and black costume. The choreography is nice but Jason seems a little unsure of himself at the beginning. Ooops, it looks like they had a lift in the beginning.. The rest of it is nice though, not too much posing. Bruno liked it and said he looked manly, Carrie Ann and Len also enjoyed the dance. Samantha asks why the viewers should vote for him and he said, I’ll lower the price of gas…etc. Cute. Three 9’s for a 27, but I think they were hoping for a couple of 10’s. Jason Taylor, I like this guy he is charming.
Next is Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani trying to look sexy doing the Rumba. I just don’t buy it and a I am beginning to think Tony Dovolani (who I love) is part of the problem. He might have trouble taking her seriously, like maybe he is surprised to be here too, like Jonathan Roberts with Marie Osmond last season. This dance was boring. Her stockings got stuck to his pants at the end and my Tom Bergeron covered it. Carrie hated it, she said it was not a semi final dance. Len thought they did a very good job and the Rumba was more about precision. Bruno also loved it and Carrie argued that it was not exciting. A little judges spat which goes back to Carrie’s inexperience with ballroom, she got a little prickly over that…I don’t feel bad for her at all. They get two 9’s and and an 8 for a 26 and the judges still look angry with each other. I love the drama!!
Cristian de la Fuente are up next with the infamous Samba. Cute dance, Cristian looks at his feet a couple of times, but maybe that is ok. If he is nervous it does not show. They do some rump shaking, and they show full frontal on Cristian, it borders on after 10 PM viewing!! Len says his injury has made him focus but occasionally he was a little flat footed. Bruno thought it was a fun party dance. Carrie said that tonight her reminded her of Emmit Smith, now that is a compliment, did anyone out there not love Emmit Smith???? They get a 9 from Len and two 10’s from Carrie and Bruno, they are very excited about the 29.
Final dancers are Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas doing the Jive. I loved their Jive before, I hope this one holds up. Mark Ballas is wearing pink shoes, that is interesting. I am confused immediately by the choreography, it is like Kristi is dancing with Edyta, Mark does a bunch of lifts and takes the spot light from Kristi, who is quite capable of doing those leg lifts. The dance is good though and a lot of fun, but not, for me, as good as last time. Bruno loved it. Kristi said it was an extremely difficult routine, but slightly out of sync. Len said it was great, but that Kristi was a little bit stiff at some points in the dance. No way will they get a perfect score this time around. Two 9’s and a 10 from Bruno for a 28.
My favorite tonight was Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska’s first dance the Foxtrot. My least favorite was Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani’s Rumba. I hope Marissa and Tony get voted out, they don’t really deserve to be in the finals.
Dancing with the Stars Semi-Finals

Well, a random draw (drawing out little disco balls - so cute) determined what dances our couples will be dancing this week. I know ahead of time that Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani have the Quickstep and Rumba because he posted a myspace blog stating they’ve been working so hard this week.
First impressions - Edyta looks amazing in baby blue. Kristi Yamaguchi looks very pretty. I like her hair back. Cheryl looks like a gaudy disco ball and Marissa hmmm like the deep purple color, but no comment on the dress style. Jason Taylor looks handsome as does Cristian. Tom tells us that no lifts are allowed this week. Len congratulates them on the final 4 and that they are looking for some “welly” tonight - they all will need to up their game tonight. I agree.
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are up first. This week they have the foxtrot and paso doble. Foxtrot he had at the beginning so Edyta wants him to show “them” how much he has improved. She is a naughty teacher with a chalkboard and pointer - pictures of his competitors are on the blackboard. The bit was rather cute because Edyta’s accent is so cute. We get to see Jason’s friends/colleagues tell him to step it up. He does that same pose that Kenny Mayne pointed out in his funny bit. Jason’s lines are great though. They just glide across the floor in the foxtrot. It is hard to believe he is a football player with that grace. Edyta looked like he had nailed it and his wife loved it as did Emmitt Smith who is in the audience.
Len’s welly meter thought he was a dolphin gliding across the floor. He loved every part of it and thought it was fantastic. What is up with Bruno’s hair? Messy as can be. Bruno loved it thought he was a showman tonight. Carrie Ann thought it was truly beautiful. His scores were 2 9’s a 10 from Len’s welly meter for a total of 28 out of 30.
Guess who is back?? Stacy Keibler - Tony’s season 2 partner. She joins Marissa and Tony in practice. Stacy referred to Tony as her older, meaner brother - because she doesn’t see him as sexy. Apparently, Marissa doesn’t see him as sexy either. Hmmm, I would have thought that Marissa of all people would. Interesting. This week Tony is paying attention to detail because it is the semi-finals. Well, it is about time, Tony. LOL! Ok, quickstep is first. They do the locomotion thing at the beginning - kind of cute. Her kicks are pretty fast this time and she seems very light on her feet. I think she might have missed a jump - at least Tony jumped, but I’m not sure if she was supposed to. I think she missed it. Tony seems pleased as does she, so perhaps she didn’t miss a thing.
Bruno said she started like a little locomotive, but went off like the Orient Express. Bruno said she missed something - must have been the leap that I was talking about. Carrie Ann says she is the unlikely contender, but she thought she did a great classic quickstep. Len took into consideration the difficulty/technique - he thought she did a great job. Her scores were 2 9’s and an 8 from Bruno the grouch (I think there is something to that messy hair of his). Her total was 26 out of 30.
Speaking of Bruno the grouch, this just in, I just read that Bruno and Simon Cowell might switch judges seats. Simon might end up judging on Dancing with the Stars while Bruno might end up judging on American Idol. According to Simon, who’s been friends with Bruno for many years, Bruno knows nothing about singing. That has me wondering how he could be a coach on Dance Wars: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann which was a show about Dancing AND singing. I know Carrie Ann was a singing pop star back in the day, but guess Bruno doesn’t have any singing talent. Say it with me - “interesting”. That is the word of the night, folks. Ok, back from commercial break now…
One armed Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke have the Viennese Waltz and Samba. Samba was the dance he got injured and that scared Cristian. He is having issues because of his fear and Cheryl told him to think of it as the a fun dance like the Mambo. They take to the streets and BEG for votes. Cheryl is all decked out in her costume and Cristian has a sign with their promo picture on it. Funny how karma comes back - he has to do with the same dances on the night he was injured. They dance to one of my favorite songs “Satellite” by Dave Matthews Band. This dance was fast and fluid and there was a nice camera angle as Cheryl spun on one leg. I didn’t think he was as graceful as Jason, but I think they did a nice job especially with one arm. Emmitt Smith was on his feet again too.
Carrie Ann said she loves his breakthrough moments where he just clicks in. Len said better marks - better mix of steps and Bruno said something about wow factor. They were pretty brief in their comments - are we short for time? Tom was making fun of Cheryl’s dress and asked “is anyone missing a weather balloon?” hahaha! It was a pretty hidieous dress for a beautiful Viennese Waltz. Their scores were all 9’s for a 27 out of 30. Samantha reminds us they got a 25 last time so they’ve improved.
Kristi Yamaguchi, who looks stunning tonight, and Mark Ballas have the tango and jive. They received a perfect score on their last jive, so are experiencing pressure this week to be perfect again. The tango last time needed more emotion so they are working on that. Mark took her to a high level dance class and they tango’d in front of the class. Looks like they got some good tips from the pros - might prove to be beneficial for them. We’ll see b/c they are doing that one first. Wow - fast and crisp already. Nice hold, nice crisp kicks, nice passion, footwork was good and the ending was awesome. This was the first time I’ve been really impressed with Kristi and Mark - seriously. I loved it. The audience did too.
Len said it was a bit hectic and Bruno goes off about it and Len makes fun of his haircut. Bruno said they squeezed every ounce of drama, passion, and sex appeal out of it - footwork was the best. Carrie Ann shut Bruno up and she stood up and said “welcome back to the dance floor” as she pulled her dress out from under the chair. They received 2 10’s and a 9 from Len for a total out of 29 out of 30. Last time they got all 9’s.
Leaderboard after Ballroom Round
Kristi and Mark 29 out of 30
Jason and Edyta 28 out of 30
Cristian and Cheryl 27 out of 30
Marissa and Tony 26 out of 30
Sexy latin round is next. Len Goodman goes undercover again with a cheesy James Bond bit. He does this cheeky move with the score paddle and I loved it. Up first was Jason Taylor and Jason hid behind Edyta. Them dancing together is HILARIOUS. Len makes the Cristian “I know it hurts” sounds as he dances with him. Len visits Kristi next and helps her with her jive. She had issues with her leg last time and he practices with her and does a nice move that she practiced with Mark - Len loved it so much he spanked his own A$$. hahaha! No joke. Cristian was up next getting all close with Len as Len pretended to be the girl. Len made some “da da” noises. He is sooo into this. Marissa was last - and he helps her with shaking it as Tony laughs on. He shows her how to rock her hips and says “Marissa, you were holding me kind of tight.” Tom was on the laptop getting the lowdown from Len. Len called him “T” haha! Kym Johnson was in the limo with him and Len puts the 10 paddle up to the camera as they get fresh - haha! Just know they didn’t really get fresh, but they made it look like they do. It was cute. Now a British Bachelor plug - Tom makes fun saying he gets a green card out of it. haha! Tom is all over it tonight.
Before the commercial we get a peek at Edyta’s and Jason Taylor’s outfit and I can’t say I’m a fan…ugh! We’re back from commerical and Jason’s final dance of the night is up first. They dance the Paso Doble - if you recall last time it was his football routine and Len said he had too much posing. Edyta did her leg up thing that Bridget loves so much. This is proper Paso Doble music, but I can’t say I really like it that much as it reminds me of speedy gonzalez. Jason certainly has the mean face down and I swear they just did a lift. Why even chance it? Edyta always does this. I don’t know - I thought it was just ok - didn’t love it.
Bruno mentioned strength and momentum. Carrie Ann said she commended them for the content - nice execution. Len said he attacked it and compared him to the price of gas - he’s going up. Hmmm…must have been no lift. His scores were all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30 (better than his 26 last time). His grand total was a 55 out of 60.
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani have their Rumba next. He has on large bellbottom black pants and a loose white top with the chest open. She has on black with fringe at the bottom. She’s getting all sexy on us. Will she be raunchy enough for Len? She has a chain in her hair. Don’t ask me why - but she does. Oops her fringe came off - or a piece of it did. I thought it was sexier, but it wasn’t THAT raunchy and I didn’t see a lot of hips that Len helped her with. Something happened to her dress - not sure what, but Tom is standing in front of them as they walk over - I guess her dress got stuck on Tony’s sequins. haha! Tom referred to it as becoming Siammese Twins.
Carrie Ann was down and said she wasn’t excited by that. She didn’t feel it was a semi-final dance. Len said the Rumba doesn’t have the wow factor and he thought they did a very good job. Bruno called it Sex in the City and said she sold it well. Carrie Ann interrupted and said it wasn’t exciting enough. Len kept telling her the dance doesn’t have the wow factor and that he was wow’ed for a rumba. Way to interject Len. I think Len has a thing for Marissa and wants to see her move on this competition. Good for Len. Her scores 2 9’s and an 8 from unexcited Carrie Ann for a total of 26 out of 30. Last time was a 25 out of 30. Grand Total 52 out of 60.
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke have the Samba - the arm damaging dance. He has a blue shirt on that is not buttoned at all. The arm hasn’t affected his hips at all. I do not like Cheryl’s dress - has these big yellow flowers. I do like the blue tulle at the bottom though. They did EXCELLENT. Lots of hips, lots of fun - I loved it!! Len said it was hotter than a Chili Pepper. Len said his arm has really made him focus and help him come out stronger - but one criticism - at times it was flat footed. Bruno said he made it so exciting and fun and he was partying. Carrie Ann referred to Emmitt Smith and twinkle toes and that is what he brought tonight. She liked it obviously. His scores were 2 10’s and a 9 from Len for a total of 29 out of 30. He screamed b/c he was so excited (last time he got a 21) and his grand total 56 out of 60.
Last up, Kristi and Mark dancing their jive. Will perfection live on with this jive? She’s all decked out in pink polka dots and cute little pink bobby socks. Her hair is caught on her mouth and it is driving me nuts. She is not getting it out of her mouth either. ugh! Ok, better now. She seems a bit dizzy or something and it seemed chaotic. Nice kicks though and they did Len’s cute move really well. Bruno said this was the cherry on the icing on the cake of a sweet, sweet delicious jive. Carrie Ann said “that was an extremely difficult routine” saying she attacks it, but they were a hair out of sync, but still fantastic. Len liked the basics and had a lovely balance, but thought she was just a little bit stiff. Bruno wasn’t gonna attack that b/c it “isn’t worth it.” hehe! Her scores were 2 9’s and a 10 from Bruno. Total of 28 out of 30 and a grand total of 57 out of 60. And..perfection did NOT live on.
Final Semi-finals Leaderboard
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 57 out of 60
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke 56 out of 60
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 55 out of 60
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani 52 out of 60
My favorite of the night Cheryl and Cristian’s Samba. Least Favorite was Jason and Edyta’s Paso Doble. I think both Jason and Marissa could be in trouble. If Marissa went it would be predictable for sure.

I’m so happy to have a week without the whining of Shannon Elizabeth! For those who complained, I actually do like the Hough’s, the comment about Julianne being terrible dancer was a quote by Derek Hough, hence the quotation marks. However, Derek did act like a big baby and his poor sportsmanship deserved to be noted.
On to the show. Cheryl Burke looks like a peacock with feathers all around her neck. Kristi Yamaguchi’s hair is awful and Mark Ballas is wearing a hat, that will probably be a prop. Ooh, lift week, how exciting. I predict that we will see Kristi Yamaguchi FLY!
Awesome, she and Mark Ballas are up first! They are doing th Quickstep and the Samba. I am looking forward to an incredible Quickstep from th two of them. Mark is choreographing with a British accent, what’s up with that? Mark throws off the hat and does not use it as a prop, yay Len will like that. I think Kristi’s footwork got jammed up in the beginning, but she found it again. Her kicks in the end were a little low and the lift was really just a pose at the end, not as good as I expected. Len loved it, he said it had great light and shade. Bruno agreed with Len, loved it. Carrie liked that they danced towards the judges, but she agreed with me that they got a little out of sync, that it looked like Mark was dragging Kristi a little. Boring Samantha Harris backstage interview, yawn. Two 10’s and a 9 from Carrie for a 29, nice.
Quick commercial break, love that. Mario and Karina Smirnoff are up second. They really need to bring it this week if they want to stay in the competition. They are doing the Jive and the Viennese Waltz, I’m guessing he will have trouble with the waltz. They do some pool work, which I’m pretty sure is just an excuse to show some skin, ick. They do the Viennese Waltz first and it starts out very elegant, but I think Mario loses footing on one of the first turns. After that he picks it up, but Mario is thinking awfully hard about the steps. The lift they choose is amazing, Karina ran into his arms and he spun her around in the air, wow. Bruno says DWTS has anew prince, Prince Mario, he said he did everything they asked him to do. Carrie said it was nice and stiff, just the way she likes it!! Whoa Carrie!! She also loved the lift. Len said his ballroom usually reminds him of Britney Spears getting out of a car, not very elegant and you sometimes see things you don’t want to see!! HA. He then said this week was the best he had seen Mario dance. Backstage with Samantha Mario does a very bad Len impression. Three 9’s for a total of 27, that might keep him in th running next week.
Another quick break!! Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani are next. She is growing on me…I guess. They are doing the Foxtrot and the Mambo, complete with lifts. They do the Foxtrot first to New York, New York, neat. Her stage presence is definitely coming out in this dance and she actually looks fairly elegant. They end with a pretty lift, but the whole thing was a little slow motion for my taste. Carrie loved it, she said she connected with the audience. Len loved it too as did Bruno. However, Bruno thought there was not enough gliding for a Foxtrot. Two 8’s and a 9 from the over-zealous Carrie for a 25.
Next to dance are Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska. He’s a bit of a jokester I think, love that. They will do the Tango and the Samba. Edyta is excited about the lifts, no shock there, she loves throwing her body around. When he lifts her it looks like she is a twig-she is unbelievably tiney!! She makes Jason get a spray tan, that’s nuts! Their Tango is first and it begins very precise and serious. Jason is quite the leading man. This dance, is very, very good. I am even beginning to not dislike Edyta so much. The lift is incredible, he is just so tall!! Yowzers!!! Len said he thought it looked too much like a Argentine Tango, Bruno got all queenly annoyed about this and argued with Len. Bruno said it was beautiful and that Edyta had never danced better. Len looked on with an annoyed face. Carrie thought it was intriguingly great. Len & Bruno continue to argue through Tom’s comments. Two 10’s and a 9 from Len to tie them with Kristi at 29. Jason gives some props to the other competitors, what a swell guy.
Up last in the first round are Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke. DWTS milks the injury a little more and he shows up to practice with his arm and a sling. Looks like lifts will be impossible for him. Cheryl is trying to choreograph a dance that will disguise the injury, including a lift. They are doing their Tango to “Beat It!” Cristian is wearing one white glove, cheesy!! They dance is ok, Cristian’s injury is hardly noticeable. The lift is pretty dumb and probably should have been left out. It was more like a hug with Cheryl’s legs wrapped around Cristian. The feathers were annoying and in Cheryl’s face most of the time. Bruno said it was exactly what a Tango should be. Carrie said she saw nothing wrong with that Tango and Len congratulated Cheryl on the great choreography. Two 9’s and their first 10 from Carrie. Cristian is jumping up and down, like a 10 from Carrie means that much. Tom Bergeron says that Cheryl looks like she is peering at us through a feather duster, hahahah-love him!!
To start the second round Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are doing the Samba. As expected, it is fabulous. Kristi does some amazing spins and shakes it like a professional. I think this dance was perfect, fun and full of excitement. Wait a minute…Carrie says she did not care for it…she said it was a bit awkward and out of control. What????? Len thought that it had great speed, energy, and spins but lost bit of the dance because of it. Bruno liked it, saying it was technically the most difficult dance in the competition. Samantha Harris is horrible, her question goes on and on winding into nothingness. Scores are two 9’s and an 8 from Carrie for a total of 26. I think they deserved much better than that!
Doing the Jive next are Mario and Karin Smirnoff. It starts out with Mario doing something that looks like it was supposed to be a cartwheel, but it wasn’t. I love the dress Karina is wearing, it reminds me of Cha Cha in the movie Grease. They try another cool lift, but I swear Mario almost dropped her!! Len said the whole thing had a roughness to it, I sort of agree with that. He said there was no technique in the footwork. Bruno called it the spirit of rock in the Jive. Carrie thought his wildness worked in this Jive, but that the footwork was a little off. Two 9’s and an 8 from Len for a 26. The same score as Kristi and Mark…that’s crazy right???
Next to dance the Mambo are Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. They are all decked out in red, which is fun. This Mambo is slow, too slow for me. It is fun and all, but is like a teeny bopper Mambo, not what I was looking for. Marissa does do a mildly entertaining spin. Bruno thought it was a great Mambo, calling it really nice. Carrie loves the way she goes for it, but noted some messy footwork. Len liked the performance but thought it was more careful and not down and dirty and raunchy!! Who knew I would agree with Len so much?? Backstage Marissa says she is never going to be raunchy enough. Two 8’s and a 9 from Bruno for a total of 25.
Jason and Edyta are up next doing the Samba. He looks incredibly hot!! Edyta is naked. Well, almost naked anyway! I can’t take my eyes off them. This is what Jason has, he’ s so tall and handsome and can actually dance and look sexy doing it that you are glued to the screen!! The lift at the end is scary, he wobbles a bit too much for me. Carrie did not like it, she said the musicality was muddy and his head was down most of the time. Len did not like it he said it was not good enough for the semi finals. Bruno called it a turkey, yikes…I guess I was wrong about Mr. Taylor’s dancing chops! Backstage Jason said they did not cuss at him so it was no big deal, tee hee. Whoa, two 8’s and an astounding 7 from Len. Big shocker, the leaders are a mess this round!
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke will close out the show with the Mambo. Cristian is wearing a sequined band on his arm brace, talk about milking it. Would it have killed him to just wear sleeves? The dance is fun, but his injury shows a bit more than it did in the last one. They end in a clever one armed lift pose and get a standing ovation. Len said it was full of energy, fabulous. Bruno is amazed at the things Cristian can do with one arm. Carrie says the two of them are on fire, looks like they will top the leader board this week-what a crazy turn of events. Two 10’s and 9 from Carrie for a 29, that puts them at the top of the leader board. This injury is really paying off!
My favorite was Jason and Edyta’s Tango and my least favorite was Marissa & Tony’s Mambo. I’m betting Cristian and Cheryl will dance an encore tomorrow, if his injured arm can take it.
Week 7: Dancing with the Stars

This week the stars are pressured into dancing 2 dances. I already know that Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough have the Mambo and Tango as he posted a bulletin today on MySpace telling us so and to make sure we vote. Edyta Sliwinska’s MySpace Keeper always posts bulletins too to make sure we watch and vote. I tell ya - it is a PR thing that MySpace.
First impressions - Cristian, Derek, Jason Taylor look very suave and handsome in their suits. Mario looks pretty smooth too. Shannon looks typical in her tango outfit which is dark navy and she has a red flower in her hair. Mark Ballas is dressed in an officer’s uniform - an officer and a gentleman that he is.
First up is Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. I can’t say I like her outfit at all. UGH! This week they have the Tango and Rumba. Tony wants Marissa to bring sexy back. Marissa says she’s got the fun sexy down, but not sure about the other sexy. She keeps confusing the two dances and might go out and do the Rumbango - LOL! Good one. She has got the actress part down with the stern, passionate face. Her hold is good. Her movements are very precise and honestly she just keeps getting better and better. She was totally in character and did very well in my book.
Len Goodman started it off saying their expectations weren’t any less b/c of 2 dances this week. Len said it was her best dance. Wow!! Bruno liked the drama and passion - great job. Carrie Ann said she’s had a rough road, but something has really come out. She is all about what this competition is about. She called it fantastic. BTW, Marlee Matlin is proudly sitting in the audience. Is she missing it already? Her scores were all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30. Tony jumped up and down as it appears Marissa’s craziness has rubbed off on him. LOL!
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke have the Viennese Waltz and the Samba. He looks pretty good in the Samba practice. Awww - we get to see his daughter and she’s dressed as a princess - hopefully to help him with his Viennese Waltz. Let’s see if it helps. They dance to “I’ll Make Love To You”. It was very fluid and fast. They kept moving and it was pretty elegant. I liked their last trick where they did a death spiral and she spun out and he slid in. Niiiice!!
Bruno said the interplay was brilliant, great movement, a pleasure to watch. Carrie Ann said they have a new fluidity, but thought it was lacking just a hair in energy. She said it was missing a little extra flair. Len mentioned the romance, but it lacked content. His scores were 2 8’s and a 9 from Bruno for a total of 25 out of 30.
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas also have the Viennese Waltz and the Cha Cha Cha. Mark is freaked out because he hasn’t been to this stage of the competition where there are 2 dances. He feels like a rookie again. They go on the ice and Mark is falling all over the place while Kristi shows him her tricks. She kicks ice on him and laughs. Poor Marky Mark. She’s holding an umbrella and he comes to her. She twirls with the umbrella in her hand - nice. They dance to Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You”. Nice turns, Kristi. They did this trick where she spins and spins and then Mark runs over as she falls and he catches her. That was very nice and elegant. I think we are just now getting into the meat of Dancing with the Stars where the dances are all good. I like it.
Carrie Ann said her prop paid off - she loves the risks she takes. Carrie Ann said technically her turns were off - a hair. Len said the start was too long (Carrie Ann said she liked it and Bruno said it is called creativity) Len cuts Bruno off saying his hot air has a lot to do with global warming and that Bruno is getting on his ‘bloody’ nerves. LOL! Len said they don’t need props. Bruno loved it saying she was floating about, but acting the part. Kristi’s scores were 2 9’s and an 8 from Len. Boo Len! Her total was 26 out of 30.
Mario and Karina Smirnoff are up next dancing the Foxtrot and Mambo. Mario was upset about being in the bottom 2 last week. He actually has to learn 3 dances this week - one of which is hip hop for his music video. Oh such a tough life! I’ll be honest with you, I don’t know what to look for on the foxtrot. They did miss a hand when he reached for her, but other than that I really liked it. He was very light on his feet and looked like he had a good time out there.
Len said for 21 years old, he comes out and dances with great maturity and he’s a good role model. He said he isn’t the most elegant, but well done. Bruno said he brings youthful vitality, but said he isn’t quite there yet with the control, but it was a pleasure to watch. Carrie Ann said he does very good work and does difficult routines. In the ballroom dance, she needs him to be a little stiffer. His scores were all 8’s for a total of 24 out of 30.
Tom tells us that Kenny Mayne and Jerry Rice will be in with Dance Center tomorrow - yayyyy! And Def Leppard too –woohoo!
Next up is Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough and we are reminded of her crying and bad sportmanship last week. Shannon starts off apologizing again stating they made a mistake. They have the mambo where Derek tells her “more hips”. Derek says he has to put their “friendship” aside and be the teacher. She tells him he is being “irritating” today. He thinks that is perfect for the tango which is the dance they are doing now. She play smacks him and it looks real as does her anger. The music is very weird, but it is tango music. It sounds like frantic tango music. I don’t think her moves are crisp enough and their trick at the end wasn’t strong enough - her hold wasn’t great in the trick.
Bruno said the tango is a “bitch of a dance” to master. Bruno said it was fascinating. It was like a silent movie “I love you, I hate you, I don’t care” said Bruno. Carrie Ann said it was her best dance yet. Carrie Ann said she worked hard on her lines and it really paid off. Len said it had aggression and passion, but their were a couple of odd moments, but that added to the impact.
Samantha took them backstage and said they were fighting on their way to her - but Derek said no that it was all love. She puts her arms around him and squeezes (Shannon that is not Samantha, LOL). She received all 9’s for a total of 27. Shannon was very excited about that. Derek mentions something about having fake bums on their next dance and Shannon said that he gave it away already. Hmm..I’m kind of interested in what they’ve cooked up.
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska have the Paso Doble and Quickstep. Jason tells us how terrified he was of the possibility of being eliminated. He was taken lessons from Cristian because he was screaming and slamming his feet down during Paso practice. LOL! They have the Quickstep first and he starts off at the top of the stairs where the band is and the drums just start going and Jason is acting like he’s playing the drums. It was very cute. He then does the splits off the stage over the top of Edyta’s head. He seems a little off in the steps - either faster than Edyta or slower than Edyta at times. I think he is a little ahead of her which means he is off the beat. He puts her in a death spin and runs over and grabs Len’s papers and throws them all over the floor. Len just laughs. Jason picks up all the papers and hands them back to the judges. It was super cute. The crowd just loved it. There were missteps though, but it was a great performance.
Carrie Ann said the frame, kicks, form, etc. was fantastic. He was larger than life. Len said with performances like that, Jason will be in the finals. Bruno said that was quick lightening and called it the performance of the night. I smell some 10’s coming his way. He received 2 10’s and a 9 from stingy Len. LOL! His total was 29 out of 30.
Leaderboard after round 1:
Jason and Edyta 29 out of 30
Marissa and Tony 27 out of 30
Shannon and Derek 27 out of 30
Kristi and Mark 26 out of 30
Cristian and Cheryl 25 out of 30
Mario and Karina 24 out of 30
Close race so far - funny to see Kristi in the #4 spot. Will she come back?
Marissa and Tony are dancing the sexy Rumba. She looks pretty in her pink and showing some skin in her waist. Her hair is down and looks pretty. I don’t have many comments, but I thought she did well. I didn’t see much hip action, but she looked elegant and did pretty well in my opinion.
Bruno said it was warm, romantic and sweet, but wanted more dirty. Marissa shook her head no. LOL! Carrie Ann said it was beautiful and she had goose bumps. She thought it was great. Len said she really acted the part - but no hip action and it was a tad careful. Her scores were a 9 from Carrie Ann and 2 8’s from the others. Her total was 25 out of 30. Her grand total is 52 out of 60.
Cristian and Cheryl have the Samba now. They are decked out in lime green. Lots of hip action here - Len will approve of that. OMG! He hurt himself during the dance - he pulled a muscle in his arm and couldn’t continue. He keeps saying he’s sorry and he’s fine. Tom goes to a break so he can get it checked out. Well, that sucks. It was looking good there until the pulled muscle. We’re back from commercial and the EMT said he has a severe muscle cramp and he has it on ice.
Carrie Ann said it was really hard to comment - that you judge up until the point the injury occurred. Carrie Ann said she was glad that he was there until the very end for Cheryl. Len said he was brave - well done. Bruno said he did his best and he appreciates that. Cristian looks sick and in major pain. Poor guy! Samantha goes right to the scores so he can get some treatment. They receive all 7’s for a total of 21 out of 30. Total for both dances 46 out of 60. Cristian says it hurts - the arm and that he couldn’t do the dance. Cheryl looks concerned. I feel bad for them both.
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas take the stage now dancing the chat cha cha. They dance to Rihanna’s “Please don’t stop the music”. She had on lots of fringe tonight. Her hair is very curly too - a possible hair piece? Before I comment on the dance we must go back to week 1 last season when Mark Ballas choreographed the most awesome and most excellent Cha Cha Cha with Sabrina Bryan. Remember that? That dance was absolutely amazing and I must say this dance is his to own. He is really in his element with this dance. I will say that I loved Sabrina’s cha cha cha more, but that isn’t putting Kristi’s dance at all because I LOVED THIS! This was awesome and to me has been the best dance all season. LOVED IT!!! And I am watching it again - gotta love DVR’s. The footwork was complicated especially at the end - and she just let go - awesome. Mark’s cha cha cha choreography is the best ever!
Len seemed speechless - he didn’t like the start, but liked the middle. He didn’t like the bits where one partner does one thing and the other does some stuff. Len called Bruno sunshine during that too - LOL! He didn’t like the hip hop dancing either. Bruno told him to dust off the cobwebs. LOL! Bruno said kids are gonna love it as he pounded the judges table. Carrie Ann laughs and said two snaps err..3 snaps up because she went into the hip hop and it was gooood. Oh yeah!! LOVED IT! I smell some 10’s, but probably not from Stingy Len. She receives 2 10’s and an 8 from Len. Carrie Ann smacks his arm with her paddle. LOL! Cute! Tom calls Len cranky pants. hehe! Total of 28 out of 30 and a grand total of 54 out of 60.
Mario and Karina Smirnoff dance the mambo. He has on a silky red shirt and white pants. Nice hip action. I guess they had to bring in some spanish speaking singers for this song. It was all spanish. It was pretty good. I wasn’t blown away, but it was good - nice hip action, Mario.
Bruno said this is his comfort zone with the latin dances. Carrie Ann said she set the place on fire, but there was one little part where they were out of sync, but it was fantastic. Len said wild wacky wonderful and jabs at Carrie Ann in which she pushes him. Hopefully Bridget caught what he said about her because I didn’t and am too lazy to rewind it. He received all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30. His grand total was 51 out of 60.
Update on Cristian - has left for the hospital and he won’t be back for the rest of the show.
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough are up and she is shaking her booty at the judges right in front of their table. She also has some fake hair on - all curly. I think they took it off of Kristi real fast and put it on Shannon. They were all over the place and she looks very awkward at times, but it was fun none the less. They end with her shaking her stuff in front of the judges and laid in front of Len on the judges table.
Carrie Ann doesn’t know what to say - some of her lines are awkward - b/c she is so long. Good job though. Len said for a moment he had died and gone to heavan - said she has a bionic bum. Bruno agreed saying her movements are a bit awkward, but she’s improved this week. And Samantha asked her about her bum and we are told she has a fake bum in - LOL! She received all 8’s for a total of 24 out of 30. Her grand total was 51 out of 60.
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are dancing the Paso Doble. He has black football lines under his eyes. They dance to the Monday Night Football song - weird - didn’t know it was any other music besides the intro. This reminds me of Cameron’s superman dance. And it ended like it too. It was a bit weird for me and I could have sworn that they did a lift at the end. He was powerful and stiff in his movements, but it was ok.
Len gave some love to the band - Len said Jason scared the life out of him, but a bit too much posing, but “when you’ve got a body like yours and mine, we like to pose” OMG - Len is hilarious tonight. I love how he compares himself to the hottest men out there. Bruno said he really went out there with incredible prescence - a winner. Carrie Ann said it was fantastic - it was unconventional and she called out the LIFT! I knew it. As they go backstage - everyone stands up with their arms up yelling touchdown. Nice. His scores were 2 9’s and an 8 from Len for a total of 26 out of 30 and a grand total of 55 out of 60.
Samantha called Jason’s teammates - coplayers. Tom made fun of her saying it sounds like they want to take out a loan together. Finally someone is making fun of Samantha’s stammering and nonsense.
Poor Cheryl is standing there all alone. I’m sad for Cheryl. Let’s hope Cristian is ok and able to continue to dance. With that said, my favorite was Kristi and Mark’s Cha Cha Cha followed by Jason and Edyta’s Quickstep. Although I thought tonight was an awesome night for DWTS. Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke will definitely be in trouble and I think Mario could be in the bottom 2 again.
Final Leaderboard:
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 55 out of 60
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 54 out of 60
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani 52 out of 60
Mario and Karina Smirnoff 51 out of 60
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough 51 out of 60
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke 46 out of 60

I love double dance week! I think it really separates the men from the boys, figuratively speaking. I hate that Mark Ballas is wearing some kind of uniform and is it just me or does Marissa Jaret Winokur look much thinner. Kudos to Samantha Harris’ stylist, who for once did not put her in a pageant dress.
Right into the dances with Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani doing the Rumba and the Tango this week, trying to bring sexy back. Marissa is having trouble being sensual, she looks a bit like a little kid pretending to be a grown up. Tango first and she starts off great witha big high kick. Her lines are nice and her footwork is better than I expected. She had a weird look on her face a few times, but otherwise not bad. Len calls it Marissa’s best dance. Tony called it something unintelligible, but it was a compliment. Carrie also was all about love. Three 9’s for a 27, Marissa & Tony are giddy with excitement. Tom Bergeron (who I love) said she gets so excited that he thought he danced well, tee hee.
Second to dance is Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke they will do the Samba and the Viennese Waltz. Cristian named some of the dance moves after the judges, very funny. They do the Viennese Waltz first and it is very pretty. Chery is wearing a beautiful flowing blue dress. They do an amazing spin at the end, it was all very pretty, but maybe a bit boring…something was missing for me. Bruno called it a pleasure to watch. Carrie said it lacked a little bit of energy and Len thought it lacked content. I’m picking up what you’re putting down, Len! Two 8’s and 9 from Bruno for a 25. Samantha does some uninteresting chatter backstage.
Third to dance are Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas, also doing the Viennese Waltz first then the Cha Cha Cha. Mark is stressed so Kristi takes him ice skating for fun. We get to see some of her great skating moves, also why she is a complete ringer for this competition. They start out with Kristi holding a sparkley umbrella and then dancing with it, trick. Once she drops it the dance is beautiful and artistic. Kristi does some amazing spins that end with her falling into Mark’s arms. They end back under the umbrella, yep they are going to get a perfect score. Carrie loved it, she thought using the umbrella was a risk, but that her turns were off. Len said th start was a too long, he also thought Bruno was causing global warming with his hot air. Bruno loved it, and said it was very difficult “three turns then into a drop, you try it!” Two 9’s and an 8 from Len for a 26, their lowest score yet…no way!
Next up is Mario and Karina Smirnoff, as usual she is nearly naked. They are trying to come back from being in the bottom last week, Mario talks about his fans-I don’t know who those people are. They are doing the Mambo and the Foxtrot this week, I bet Mario will have trouble with the Foxtrot. They are doing it first, so we’ll see. Actually, so far Mario is surprisingly light on his feet. Their turns are nice and the dance has a great rhythm to it, impressive. Mario really looks like a leading man throughout this one, nice. Len said he is not the most elegant but well done anyway. Bruno said it was a pleasure to watch him, but that he lacked a little control. Carrie applauded him for doing difficult steps. Oh yay, Def Leppard and Kenny Mayne will be on tomorrow!!! Three 8’s for a 24, I think it was a few points better than that, but what do I know?
The whiners Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough are up next. They try to make up and apologize for being jerks, I don’t accept. They are doing the Mambo and the Tango. Shannon continues to act like a weak, crying female-I hate that. Their Tango is first and it is oddly stiff. She looks strange and awkward kind of like she is in pain. She misses grabbing his hat off at the end, that will probably make her cry. Bruno said it was fascinating, but called out the mistake at the end. Carrie called it her best dance yet, by far. Len said it was terrific, maybe I was watching something else! Three 9’s for a 27, I guess.
Next up are Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska doing the Paso Doble and the Quickstep. They are doing the Quickstep first and they open with a lot of energy and a big jump from the very tall Jason. I’m loving this dance!! Jason is so light on his feet for such a big guy and they look like they are having an amazing time. He even runs over and throws papers from the judges table all over the floor. I want to see that again tomorrow! Carrie said it was larger than life! Len called him tenacious and that he is definitely in the finals. Bruno called it the performance of the night! I smell a 30! Oh no, two 10’s and a 9 from Len for 29. What are you thinking Len????
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani are back to start he Latin round with the Rumba. It is slow and not at all sexy. I can tell they are trying to be sexy, but I just don’t buy it at all. Yawn. Bruno said it was nice, but that she could have pushed a little bit more on the sex! Carrie thought it was great. Len said it was too careful and there was not enough hip action for him. Two8’s and a 9 from Carrie for a 25. Marissa is way too excited.
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke are doing the Samba next. It is very hot. This is one of those dances that we have all been waiting for and Cristian does not disappoint, wait a minute, something happened. Cristian hurt his arm, pulled a muscle in his arm. They had to stop the dance, he really looks like he is in pain. I backtracked to see it again, and I think he was just wiggling when it happened, but then he dropped Cheryl..yikes this is not good. Poor guy, he seems embarrassed. Back to the show and Cristian was diagnosed with a severe muscle cramp. The judges are going to base this score on the dance up to the point that he was injured. They all give him kudos for trying to continue to dance, tough job for them. Tom Bergeron tries to fill some time with more scores recaps, Samantha jumps right to the scores because she can’t fill time. They get three 7’s for a 21, Cristian says it hurts his arm and that he could not finish and walks off clearly upset.
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are doing the Cha Cha Cha next. Kristi has crazy hair. Technically this looks fine to me, but I actually expected more from them. It does not seem that complicated for her, maybe it lacked some content? They get a standing ovation, guess it is better than I thought. Maybe it is Mark’s lack of experience choreographing two dances that is starting to show. Len did not like the choreography, them dancing separately and the as he called it, boogaloo hip hopping. Bruno loved it, calling contemporary. Len and Bruno had a great argument int he midst of all of it. Carrie also loved it, she and Bruno are all about the great choreography, I personally did not like it at all. Two 10’s and an 8 from Len, I’m with you Len!
Mario and Karina Smirnoff are up next doing their Mambo. It is fast and saucy. I am loving this dance they are having fun and doing a lot of great little moves. Love it, loved all of it. Bruno calls it Mario’s comfort zone. Carrie called out one little out of sync spot. Len called it wild, wacky, and wonderful. Samantha does a terrible interview, interrupting Mario mid sentence, ugh. They get three 9’s for a 27.
Doing the Mambo next are Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough. She is back to no rhythm and no hip action. Shannon looks like a little kid trying out for a talent show. She’s horrible!! This is like watching Marie Osmond again, hated it! Carrie liked the emotion of the dance, but called her out for awkward lines. Len said she had a bionic bum, but that she looks gawky sometimes. Bruno also said she has a gangliness to her moves, yep she does! Backstage Shannon reveals that she is wearing a fake butt pad!! They get three 8’s for a 24, again whatever.
The final dancers are Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska doing the Paso Doble, I am looking forward to this. Jason is looking huge and it works perfectly for this dance. This is really great, very strong and masculine with Jason in complete control, but I think there was a bit of a lift that they might get pinched for, shoot!! Len said he scared the life out of him, but did not love all the posing, he said “but when you’ve got a body like mine,” hahaha! Bruno loved it. Carrie calls out the lift, there goes a perfect 30. Two 9’s and an 8 from Len for a 26, what’s up with Len??
So, my favorite dance of the night was Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska’s quickstep. My least favorite was Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough’s Mambo. I think their nasty attitudes last week are going to be their downfall this week, but I am worried that Cristian might be in tough shape too because of that last low score, we’ll see won’t we!!
Week 6 Dancing with the Stars

The stars have added pressure this week because not only do they have to learn their routines, they have to learn their first group dance - a rootin’ tootin’ group dance complete with cowboy hats - yeehaw! All I know is I am raring to see the chemistry between Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth - that has been all I’ve been waiting for all week long.
First impressions: Edyta Sliwinska needs more clothes, Cheryl Burke looks like a fluffy pink flamingo, Jason Taylor is hot as usual with those nice muscles showing, Cristian de la Fuente looks handsome in a suit and pink tie, Shannon Elizabeth looks cute in pink, Kristi Yamaguchi has a dress on that looks like a tux, Marlee Matlin has taken over the sexy cougar spot that Priscilla left open - she is showing lots of skin and has a tiger-ish outfit on. She’s got a nice tummy for sure. Mario looks relaxed with a button up tux shirt unbuttoned. Marissa’s hair is just BIG - as usual.
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are up first and this week they are dancing the cha cha cha. Jason says he needs to dance more. We see them practicing and he does this booty shaking move and it is HOT! They go to this freestyle class with choreographer named Show-Tyme. Tonight JT is gonna get his cha cha on - woohooo - can’t wait. He’s sooo sexy and hot. Dang Edyta has these booty shorts on - guess she can pull it off with that awesome body. Jason is lip-syncing during most of the song and is really shaking his hips. I don’t know - I wasn’t blown away, but I did have a smile on my face during the dance. That counts for something, right? Len said there was definitely enough content tonight and he captured the flavor of his dance. Len said his heart went out to him b/c he kept trying to count 1 2 3 cha cha cha. Bruno said tonight he was a bit cheeky and flamboyant, but that the timing was messed up as well as the footwork. Bruno liked him more exposed though. Carrie Ann said when he hits his lines it is beautiful, but when he is out of hold he looks awkward - she told him to dance big instead of dance small. He gets all 8’s from the judges for a total of 24 out of 30.
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough have the Rumba this week - no wonder they were kissing - b/c that is the closest, slowest most romantic dance yet. LOL! We get to see a recap of Shannon thinking she was going home last week and she was upset because then she wouldn’t get to see Derek anymore - 1 2 3 awwww! Derek comes into practice with this HUGE bouquet of flowers. Howwww Sweeeeet these two are. Don’tcha just love em? I DO! Rumba according to Derek is deceptively difficult. Shannon is getting upset because it is so difficult - so they go to the beach and do the hula hoop and mess around. This is where they kiss - but according to the reports it is AFTER the DWTS cameras left so I doubt we get to see that, but we do get to see some skin and hugging. Here we go - they dance to True Colors by Cindy Lauper. She looks absolutely stunning and she does this Rumba justice, unlike Priscilla did. They walk off the stage and up the stairs hand in hand - it was hot and sexy - loved it. Derek jumps off the stage as they come back to the judges. Bruno said they were sizzling, but the cardinal sin was hip action, apparently she didn’t have enough? Shannon’s mouth dropped as she looked at Derek. Carrie Ann says she has great potential, but we are at week 6 and we are beyond potential. Len said great chemistry, but overall he thought they did a very good job. Looks like they pleased Len and not the other two judges.
As Shannon and Derek go backstage, Tom tells us that Maksim and Mel B. will be back as is Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough and Bridget already broke the news about Mario Lopez. Cool - I love seeing DWTS alums. Samantha asked Shannon about saying goodbye to Derek - and Samantha asked her if it is just a SHOWmance - and Samantha prys even more saying “You’ve become rather close, how close have you become?” The crowd goes nuts, Shannon Elizabeth is dancing around the issue (no pun intended) and Derek answers with “ya know what, we are really serious about this competition, we went to the beach and got into character”. Hmmm. They get all 8’s for a total of 24 out of 30. They are tied with Jason Taylor for 1st place so far.
I must say with all that Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth relationship/romance talk - I LOVED SAMANTHA for it. Samantha Harris rocked tonight asking things that everyone and their brother wants to know.
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez has the Mambo tonight. Tom reminds us that her partner Fabian is the World Mambo Champion - so this should be his dance. We see last week and how upset Marlee was with her performance. Yep, I was disappointed too. We get to see Henry Winkler aka The Fonz and he came in and kicked Marlee Matlin in the butt to get her going again. I didn’t know he was a motivational speaker? They hug and she apparently gets back on track. Let’s hope or she might be outta here! She looks HOT tonight I must say. She seems a bit stiff and I’d like to see more hip action from her. It felt awkward. If you want my honest opinion - I think Marlee Matlin is out of her league and it is starting to show.
Carrie Ann said she looked amazing tonight, but it looked forced and like they were struggling. Len said the only limitations she has is the ones she puts on herself. He thought they did great, but it looked uncomfortable. Bruno said she lost it a few times, but what she does is a plus for the show. They are toooo kind. Her scores were all 7’s for a total of 21 out of 30.
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke have the foxtrot tonight. We get to see last week when they were in the bottom 2. We didn’t dwell too much on that because Cristian doesn’t dwell on negativity it seems. Cheryl once again is giving him a hard time especially about his arms. They go to the pool and he practices his arms - and it is working it seems. I think Cheryl just wanted to see him in a bathing suit - LOL! He pulls her in at the end - haha! I knew that was gonna happen though. He starts at the top of the stairs and slides down the bannister - very smooth. They just glide beautifully across the floor. He really does remind me of Fred Astaire - obviously not as great as him, but very good. He had some nice high kicks at the end too which he did in tandum with Cheryl. Very nice, Cristian!
Len said if Cristian is in the bottom 2 tomorrow, Len will show his BUM in the supermarket - LOL!!! ROTF! I guess Len loved it!! Bruno said it was Cristian at his dashing best. Bruno said his footwork tonight was excellent. Carrie Ann said he was fantastic - posture, arms, footwork, etc. His scores were all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30. Cristian was so excited that he hugged Cheryl so hard it looked like he was going to crush her. He is excited and is in the lead right now. I’m sure he’ll be in the lead until Kristi Yamaguchi dances.
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani dance the Viennese Waltz this week which is totally not part of Marissa’s personality. Tony wrote a myspace blog about how Marissa is getting into the character of a princess this week. Tony takes her to an aerial arts class where she grabs on a hoola hoop and they spin her round really fast in the air. It was fun to watch as she screams bloody murder. LOL! Honestly I am not sure how she can be a princess to this music. I honestly don’t know what the song is, but it sounds like Count Dracula is singing it and playing his kiddie keyboard along with some Mexican trumpets in the background. Marissa did this one leg turn and it was actually gorgeous. She is flowing around the flow and seems very light on her feet. They do a nice trick at the end - it seemed to work. She runs over to the Tom after it was over - she has lots of stamina. Take note, Shannon.
Bruno loved how she kept her head up and loved the technical moves she pulled off. He liked it. Carrie Ann said she is definitely on the Winokur Wave. She loved it. Len said he loved that her confidence has grown and she came out like a true princess. Marissa is beaming and well, so is Tony. Her scores 2 9’s and an 8 from Len. Tony and Marissa jump up and down and he says “OMG, you got to see a 9″. She screams - Tony laughs. They are cute together. Her total score is 26 out of 30. GOOO MARISSA!
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas is up dancing the jive. Mark has on these nerdy glasses. Will she get all 10’s this week? Hmmm we’ll see. They go perform for Tiger Woods at his event. Not sure what that was about. We get to see that Kristi was born with some type of disability - something with her feet pointing in. All I know is I love the jive - let’s hope they blow it out of the water. I am ready to be blown away. Mark’s kicks are really snappy and whippy. Kristi’s aren’t, but she is not a pro. Oh excuse me, it is called flicking. I believe that is the technical term. All I know is that I bet my Mom is lovin’ this. She loves this type of dance to this kind of music - kind of like a sock hop. They dance all nerdy like and I really liked it, but I was not blown away. Carrie Ann was on her feet. She let’s out a Hell Yeah! That was her favorite dance so far this season. Len said it was like a bull fight - and he was going off and I didn’t get it, but he did love it. I did catch that. Bruno said it was top notch, high definition, entertainment. Bruno said it was also his favorite dance to date. I smell a few if not all 10’s. And yes, they receive all 10’s for a perfect score. PERFECTO!
Mario and Karina Smirnoff have the Rumba this week. Will they provide more hip action than Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough? And guess who we just saw on the audience - Paula Abdul. She says she wants to be on the show. Is she scoping out the dance floor to do just that? We’ll see…Anyways, back to Mario and Karina Smirnoff and their Rumba. Mario wants to go head to head with Kristi. Mario says he is bringing sexy back this week. Going from sexy to his little brother - hmmm..his little bro’ calls him poopy. LOL! Mario is dedicating this to his little bro and told him to cover his eyes if it gets to steamy - I should say so, Good Lord - they dance to “Let’s Get it On”. Karina looks like she has lingerie on with a sheet draped on her fresh out of bed. LOL! They look sexy together - hot, smokin’ even. It was pretty good. I liked it…looked just like a Rumba to me.
Len Goodman said he did a good job, but the story with the Rumba..and Bruno says something about being crusty and stiffy again (referring to Len). Len didn’t like the raunchy characterization of it. Bruno thought it was fabulous - guess he likes the raunch, eh? I guess I like raunch too. hehe! Carrie Ann said it was better than good sex - it was ridiculously good, but mentioned the lift. It was probably when Karina was “walking” on air.
Oh yeah - Def Leppard is on tomorrow night - woohoo! Love 80’s hairbands. Anyways, Mario’s scores were 9’s from Carrie Ann and Len and a 10 from Bruno. His total was 28 out of 30.
Yeehawwww - Wild West Group Dance up aka The Showdown. Christian Perry is the choreographer - whoever that is. The girls are the sheriffs and the guys are the outlaws. We get to see some country banter back and forth. Get to see some square dancing and lots and lots of chaos. We finally get to see them do lots and lots of lifts - and they are legal, Carrie Ann. Marissa is scared. Shannon Elizabeth is a dare devil. Mario wants to have the best lift. Cristian is like a child in a candy store.
Here we go with the big Showdown. They dance to Cotton Eyed Joe - typical. Cheryl looks cute in some booty shorts. Derek and Shannon do lots of tricks and lifts - that’s all they did. Marissa jumps on Tony and he spins her round and she does a backflip. At least she tried, right? Kristi and Mark did lots of turns and looked pretty cute. Marlee and Fabian looked chaotic. LOL! Mario and Karina did a nice high lift - I don’t think it was the best though. Cheryl and Cristian’s solo wasn’t that great. Jason Taylor and Edyta’s was the best probably because he is so big and he can lift her high in the air. I have two words to describe this ho-down - CHAOTIC FUN!
Tom said we got to see Jason in a Cowboy’s uniform - LOL! Nice one, Tom. Carrie Ann said it was chaotic, but thought the Sheriff’s took it (the ladies). Tom reminded her she isn’t on Dance Wars anymore. LOL! Len thoroughly enjoyed it. Bruno said he thought the outlaws took it (the men). Guess the jury is till out on that. Tom is sure on fire tonight and Samantha she is doing pretty well. Keep on pryin’, Samantha.
Leadboard:
Kristi Yamaguch and Mark Ballas 30 out of 30
Mario and Karina Smirnoff 28 out of 30
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke 27 out of 30
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani 26 out of 30
Jason Taylor and Edyta Slinwinska 24 out of 30
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough 24 out of 30
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez 21 out of 30
Ok, my favorite dance goes to Kristi and Mark and I thoroughly enjoyed Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough. I am already saying bye bye to Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez.

Welcome to the show. I have to say right now that I don’t think I can stomach any sort of “rootin’ tootin’ country group dance”, sorry Tom. The couples enter and Edyta is wearing a bikini, Karina lingerie, Cheryl looks silly in frilly pink, Shannon Elizabeth looks very cute in light pink, roar for Marlee Matlin in a sassy short leopard print, no comment on Marisa Jaret Winokur, Kristi Yamaguchi looks like Minnie Mouse.
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are doing the Cha Cha Cha. Hopefully this week Edyta will do less leg throwing around, it is very annoying. We get to see Jason Taylor hip hop dance…whew very hot. They open with some impressive leaping from Jason. So far it looks good, Jason is SMOOTH!! Edyta can not resist some leg action but for once it works. I have to admit for once I don’t feel like the dance is more about her than it is about Jason Taylor. Of course, Edyta choreographs some silly leg up pose for the ending. Len loves it, says there was a lot of content in it tonight. Bruno said Jason was having fun and was flamboyant but he messed up the timing and footwork a bit, I thought I caught that too. Carrie complained more about his arms and that he danced smaller than he really is. Three 8’s for a 24, Jason is visibly disappointed, poor guy.
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough are up next doing the Rumba. She cries all the time, which I find very annoying, she acts like a little child. They shoot some stuff at the beach, which looks a lot like those leaked photos…hmmm…. They are dancing to True Colors, a song that I love. The dance is romantic and sweet, Shannon does not have much rhythm but she is working hard to be pretty and some of her lines are lovely, some though are still awkward. She has some moments where she looks like Edyta. I love the ending, they walked offstage hand in hand, very sweet. Bruno did not like it, he said there was not enough hip action in it, calling it the cardinal sin in the rumba. Shannon looked shocked. Carrie talked about Shannon’s potential, Len said they were all over each other like a rash! Len thought it was very good overall. Backstage with Samantha, Derek calls the beach incidents, getting into character, Samantha calls it a “showmance!” Three 8’s for a total of 24, they should be happy with that.
I missed Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez…and I can’t find it anywhere!!
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke are up next doing the Foxtrot. They do some gratuitous bathing suit work in the pool. Their Foxtrot is pretty and I don’t notice any missteps. However, that being said I don’t see anything special about it either. Maybe I just don’t see much chemistry between Cristian and Cheryl, I don’t know exactly what it is but I have been sort of bored by them all season. Len & Bruno loved it. Carrie called it refined. They get three 9’s for a total of 27, I guess I don’t know anything about ballroom dancing!!
Next up are my favorites (not) Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. They are doing the Viennese Waltz, I have doubts that she can pull this off. The do some aerial acrobatic stuff that she is annoying and giggles through. Marissa does the interview in some crazy red and yellow get up, this is a very bad look. So far it is better than I expected, Marissa’s posture is very good and she actually kind of looks elegant. Ok, she caught me, I am actually watching this whole dance with very little to complain about, nice! Bruno called it light and frothy and complimented the choreography. Carrie loved it. Len called her a true princess. Two 9’s and an 8 from Len for a 26, she is back to being annoying form excitement.
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are up next and their costumes are very silly. The show some tape of Kristi and Mark performing at some Tiger Woods charity. They also show some photos of Kristi’s casts as an infant from club feet, Mark refers to it as a disability….not so much. They are doing the Jive, which explains the silly costumes. The dance is fast and slick. I can not deny that Kristi is amazing, she looks like a professional. Mark looks cute too with his little horn rimmed glasses. They get a standing ovation from the audience and Carrie, who says, “Hell Yeah!!” Len says it was like a bull fight, yum yum. Bruno also gushes calling it top notch, high definition entertainment. I smell a perfect score… Oh yuck Ashlee Simpson is going to sing tomorrow, I’ll be requiring some earplugs. Yep, all 10’s for a perfect 30!! Mark Ballas lifted Kristi up in the air, cute!!
Next to dance are Mario and Karina Smirnoff doing the Rumba. Mario pretends to be involved in his little brothers life while simultaneously exploiting his cute kid status. He opens the show by unbuttoned his shirt, can I say that it is weird that he dedicated this weeks dance to his little 8 year old brother, he is dancing to “Let’s Get It On”…yikes. Back to the dance. It looks good, very sultry, but maybe a little boring? They seemed to stand in one spot for the whole dance, is that normal? Len said they did a good job, but-at this point Bruno interrupted him and called him crusty and stiffy-wow. Len said he did not like the characterization, that the dance was about a new romance, not a crumpet and a gigolo!! Bruno & Carrie loved it. Carrie called out some imaginary lift that she is going to dock them for. Two 9’s and a 10 from Bruno for a 28, I’m not sure that it was all of that!!!
Cheesy group dance time. I find this redneck schtick stuff insulting to my intelligence. Everyone is practicing lifts, Marissa Jaret Winokur says she is scared of the lifts…no comment. They are going old school with”Cotton Eye’d Joe” Shannon & Derek’s solo is ok, Marissa & Tony’s is horribly bad. Shannon Elizabeth really has no rhythm, have I mentioned that. Mark & Kristi are as fabulous as expected. Fabian and Marlee are barely passable as even dancing, Mario & Karina do the “Dirty Dancing thing, yawn” Cristian & Fabian’s is um….weird. Jason & Edyta’s is pretty nice, it helps that he is very tall.
My favorite this week was easily Krisit Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas. I think they will give the encore dance to Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. My least favorite was Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke, but I think Shannon Elizabeth might be in trouble too!!
The Joker is Gone - Sexy Week DWTS Wk. 5

By: Alyssa
Hard to believe it is week 5, but it is. The Joker is gone aka Adam Carolla. We get to see a recap of him leaving. He says “I lose 25lbs. of fat and gain 105lbs of angel. I love this girl” referring to Julianne Hough. Aww, how sweet Adam is. Latin night (Rumbas and Sambas) is here according to Samantha Harris which means we should be treated to raunchy, sexy hip action. yayy!
First impressions - Where’s Julianne? It just isn’t the same without her here - boo! Jason Taylor looks hot in his whitish outfit. It really compliments his skin tone. Cheryl Burke and Cristian de la Fuente remind me from something out of gem and the holograms - they’ve got this irridescent thing going on with some orangy pink outfits. I actually like it though. Mario has suspenders. Marissa is in purple and Priscilla in this net thing. Kristi looks elegant in violet and Shannon Elizabeth looks like she belongs in a Chiquita Banana commercial. Oh and Marlee Matlin has some orange fringe, but nothing worth mentioning.
Being older than Len’s underpants, Mario and Karina Smirnoff are up first dancing the Samba. Karina called him ‘poopie’ as in “are you ok, poopie”. He said he wasn’t feeling it today so they go into the studio and talk to Stevie Wonder. Stevie told him to let his spirit dance. Mario says he now has his swagger back. Let’s hope he brings that swagger with him to the dance floor. My, Karina is majorly tan and her behind is showing lots in that big bird yellow outfit. It has lots of hip action and I think he came out not so rough and tough this dance. I think Len might be pleased that he left the toughness out of this dance. Len is clapping so we’ll see.
Len stars off calling him ‘poopie’ and makes fun. Tom Bergeron didn’t get it. LOL! Guess he wasn’t watching the package. Len loved the hip action, but told him to work on the footwork, but best dance so far. Hmmm…that’s the only dance we’ve seen, Len. Bruno said Mario’s hips should be sensored tonight. Bruno said it was classic and he loved it. Carrie Ann’s hair looks pretty nice and she said she wasn’t distracted by his “look” and said his spirit was soooo smooth. Yep, yep! Backstage all I could look at was Karina’s black body - yes BLACK! She has so much spray tan on that she matches Mario. Is she trying to go black tonight? Anyways, the scores are all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30.
Dancing the Rumba next is Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel. We go back to last week when they did the dreaded lift. Priscilla’s challenge is the walk and she comments on Louis teachings which is disciplined. That is quite funny because she always tries to be perfect and disciplined. We see them butt heads this week. The love fest doesn’t always last. Priscilla said it is time for a comeback - let’s see if they do indeed come back and make this sexy and hot. She walks a bit and it seemed a bit stiff. They do a nice trick at the beginning when the singers started where she did the splits and then came up grabbing Louis’ face all sexy like. Oh and I have to mention that her hair is down tonight so we’ll see if she tries to keep it out of her face. My Mom is probably having a field day watching for that. LOL! She looked a little wobbly and stiff. All I know is this dance was way to slow and not enough hip action although I did like their passion for each other. They’ve got great chemistry.
Bruno said she’s sensual and not trashy, but the problem is the Rumba exposes the flaws and they pushed too far technically this week. Carrie Ann said she was in her mind too much this week. Len was disappointed and it was too careful. Carrie Ann thought Len was too harsh. Louis and Priscilla are giggling because Bruno and Carrie Ann are gaining up on Len. The dancers and celebs are backstage clapping and Cristian is on his feet cheering them on. Priscilla said she was so in the moment that the turn came on her too quickly. I didn’t notice a missed turn, but she did get 3 7’s for a total of 21 out 30. She was relieved thinking they were going to be much lower.
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani are dancing the Samba. Tony said it is like a carnival. Should match her personality for sure. She is wearing this HUGE headress with feathers to get in the Samba spirit and she is seen wearing it at home and at practice. LOL! She starts off by really shaking it and I must say she is really light on her feet and can really shake what God gave her. I REALLY liked this dance. It was awesome. I was on the edge of my seat watching it and loved EVERY moment of it. It was excellent. They did excellent and the crowd agrees with me. I would have normally been annoyed at the music because it was the same phrase about shaking a tambourine over and over again, but the dance held my attention - LOVED IT!
Carrie Ann said her head is spinning. She loved it and said it was their best by far. At the beginning it was just a little bit off, but so far the best performance they’ve done. Len loved the mix of steps and said more bounce to the ounce, but she needed to work her hips more so rather than the shoulders, but really good. Bruno loved it and said there was no stopping her once she got into it. Looks like Priscilla is going downhill and Marissa is rising up. Let’s see if the judges agree when they reveal their scores. She received 3 8’s for a total of 24 out of 30. The audience booed a little bit because they expected higher.
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke have the Rumba this week. Let’s see if they can create some hot passion between them - I want to see the love between the two. Cheryl asks Cristian why he looks so feminine - LOL! Cheryl says it is hard to do the romance because they are like brother and sister - she says this with every partner (she probably didn’t say that about Wayne Newton who is more like her Papa). They do this little movie bit where he speaks spanish and all she knows how to say is “Si”. It was kind of cute and funny, but expected for sure.
They dance to Daniel Bedingfield’s “If you’re not the one”. I really like their outfits - gorgeous colors. Hmmm…I am not liking the Rumba too much for anyone. It is just too slow. It was ok - nothing special to me. They ended really close at the end and Tom said “that didn’t look like brother and sister.” Len said he wasn’t blown away, but it wasn’t gruesome to watch. My sentiments exactly - he called it competent. Bruno said the chemistry was great saying they could go in any bedroom for sure. Bruno said he needed to caress the floor where he rubs on Len and Len told him not to - LOL! Carrie Ann said she didn’t think the chemistry was there and it wasn’t erotic as she thought it should be. Carrie Ann said to work on sustaining between the movements. Whatev’ that means, Carrie Ann. His scores were 2 8’s and a 7 from Carrie Ann for a total of 23 out of 30.
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez dance the Samba this week. They are on a plane to Mexico to fit children in need with hearing aids. Not much practicing going on, but we do get to see children start to hear again - miracles!! We are back in practice and this is all about rhythm which could pose problems for Marlee. Fabian gets stressed out and frustrated so we’ll see if they can pull it together tonight. Her turns are really nice, but I see some mess ups here and there - some weird tricks towards the beginning. She does a flip over Fabian which was cool. Her arms were a sloppy and her hips a little stiff. Someone should have spent less time in Mexico and more time practicing in my opinion although the crowd was on their feet. Hmm..not me.
Bruno said Marlee was very hot and sexy in the Samba. He mentioned lost timing and stumbles, but called her an inspiration. Carrie Ann mentioned her slips and stumbles, but said she was a trooper because she could have given up, but was a fighter. Len mentioned her confidence stating the Samba was the most difficult latin dances. He said something about her not hearing the music and he thinks she’s done a great job. Marlee goes backstage and waves off the cheering from her teammates or competitors as I call it. Her scores were 2 7’s and an 8 from Bruno. An 8 for stumbles? I think that was a pity 8, but only my opinion. Her total was 22 out of 30.
Kristi Yamaguch decked out in violet and Mark Ballas also in violet (I think they look marvelous) dance the Rumba. Mark tells her it is a vertical expression of a horizontal desire. Kristi says it is difficult because she is a married mom and is dancing with this hot thing. LOL! I knew this might prove difficult because of her lack of expression and passion. Kristi wanted to get into another persona - Kristian and Markucio. They try to get sexy and here comes her hubby and daughters to suprise her. Kill the sexy times right here folks. Her daughters are sooo cute! Her hubby is lovin’ it saying he is drawing something out of her that he hasn’t seen yet. LOL!
They dance to Say by John Mayer. Mark pulls the clip out of her hair and it flows loosely - lovely. They dance and it was lovely, but I didn’t see as MUCH passion as I would have liked although I still liked it. I felt she came out more so than she ever has. Carrie Ann said she took a risk because she really came out this week with emotion, but the technical was sacrificed a little. Len said three words FAB U LOUS! Bruno said she is Kristi Yummylicious tonight. Bruno said it was stupendous. I liked it, but not as much as the judges. Hmmm..I smell some 10’s. She received a 9 from Carrie Ann and 2 10’s for a total of 29 out of 30.
As we come back from commercial we see Mel B. sitting in the audience. Guess she can’t get enough - what happened to the Spice Girl tour? Tom now said Derek was taken to the hospital with food poisoning - he holds a puke bucket stating he hopes he will be ok on live TV. What else is Derek gonna go through? - first the neck now food poisoning. Anyways, we are watching Shannon practice the Samba and she looks REALLY stiff stating she hates this dance. They’ve gotten close - as friends says Shannon - she is seen massaging his neck and back. She mentions looking into his eyes and its nice to know they have each others back. She looks hot and sexy - she has glitter on her long legs. She reminds me of Stacy Keibler with those legs. She has major hair extensions in this week - lots o’ hair. Her turns are much better tonight and so was her posture and lines. I just wasn’t impressed with the hips, but I still liked it. She props herself up on Tom and is wayyy out of breath…again!
Len said it wasn’t good enough and no hip action. Bruno said she messed up the timing quite a few times and thought it was too hard for her to sell. Carrie Ann said she was ambitious and she was so unafraid whether she looked awkward or not. Her scores were 2 8’s and 1 7 from Bruno. Um, Bruno, someone who messed up and faltered gets an 8 out of you and you give someone who looked a bit awkward and didn’t falter a 7? I don’t get it. Her total score was 23 out of 30. Not good!
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska dance the Rumba and I must say they look hot together tonight. Ahhh! Too hot for their own good. She is doing these moves where she sticks her legs high up in the air and on his shoulder and his face is priceless - he secretly loves it though. She looks like she has lingere on all lacey. He has these beige pants on that I love when male dancers wear it especially Maks. I also must say he is wearing heels too..hehe. I only mention it because he was joking about them before. He has nice lines for sure, but it was lacking something. It was sexy, but lacking something - not sure what, but I wasn’t blown away by it. He is hot though and Len was smiling throughout.
Bruno said he had the look of a love God and wonders how he can be so big and light at the same time. Bruno said it was incredible. Carrie Ann said the chemistry was insane and she looks hot and bothered by it - LOL! She told them to be careful when his arms are down. Len liked his naturallness - like a bloke aka man - Len doesn’t like the poses (referring to Edyta’s leg up in the air). He mentioned the poses last season too because he told her to stop sticking her leg up in the air like that all the time. LOL! As Samantha interviews him I could have sworn it was Marissa’s face on the side of the screen especially with the way she was acting (all nuts like)..kinda funny. Anyways, his scores were 27 out of 30.
Here’s the Leaderboard for Week 5
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 29 out of 30
Mario and Karina Smirnoff 27 out of 30
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 27 out of 30
