I am quite ill as I type this, so please excuse any lack of enthusiasm tonight. Tonight is Latin night with the Samba and the Rhumba. When they first panned to Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris, my hubby said, “dud, push her over the balcony!.” Hee Hee. First impressions are that Karina Smirnoff looks like a giant banana. It must be primary colors week for the costume designers. Up first is Mario and Chiquita Banana. Mario gets a confidence boost by going to a radio show with Stevie Wonder. These shows are getting bigger and bigger stars all of the time. Mario compared himself to Stevie, and I don’t really see the connection. They are dancing the Samba and it is much smoother than we have seen in the past from Mario. Karina Smirnoff’s dress is almost censor worthy, yikes. The dance was fluid, but maybe a little bit safe? Len said it was his best dance so far but he should work on his foot action. Bruno also liked it as did Carrie, both calling it classic. I think they are trying to spray tan Karina until she looks like Mario’s twin. Three 9’s for a total of 27.

Up second are Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel trying to come back from their bottom two performance last week. They are doing the Rhumba. They come out slow and romantic. There are some slick balancing moves, but overall I thought it was pretty boring. I spent the whole dance waiting for them to start dancing. Bruno thought he could see to many flaws with the dance being so slow, Carrie agreed. Len said he was disappointed, then the judges started arguing, which is always fun to watch. Did Tom just say Def Leppard was going to be on?? Be still my early 90’s heart! Three 7’s for a total of 21, not great but it could have been a lot worse.

Coming in third are Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. My guess is her Samba will be horrible. So there is a ton of shaking in this Samaba, but not really much else. It seems like there is something awkward about her foot work, like she is stomping when she steps, it is very odd. Hated it. Standing ovation though, maybe I am wrong?? Carrie says her head is spinning and it was Marissa’s best dance by far. Len liked the choreography. Bruno said the has more shakes than a cocktail bar. Three 8’s for a total of 24, I get the feeling they were expecting more.

Fourth couple are Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke. This week should be easy for him, they are doing the Rhumba. During rehearsals Cheryl calls him feminine. It is funny. Then they do some dumb movie schtick, it is not funny. Lots of slow music this week, it makes it hard for me to stay awake. Yes, this is very romantic and sensual, but I am bored. Len called it a competent performance, not fantastic or gruesome to watch. Bruno said they had great chemistry, that it was a good performance but there was a problem with the walks. Carrie thought tonight the chemistry was missing and it was not super erotic as she was expecting. Two 8’s and a 7 from Carrie for a total of 23.

Dancing fifth are Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez. Marlee and Fabian went to Mexico to fit children with hearing aides, it was pretty amazing. They are doing the Samba, Fabian says this one is challenging because she can’t miss a beat. Marlee is amazing as always. This is really fast and for the most part she is staying on the beat perfectly. The choreography is some of the most fun we have seen so far tonight. Bruno said that a lot of the time she was off the beat but when she was on it was really great. Carrie also noted her stumbles, but liked that she kept going. Len went with the great for being deaf bit. I bet these scores will not be very high. Two 7’s and an 8 from Bruno for a 22.

Looking lovely in lavendar (say that 5 times fast) are Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas. They are dancing the Rhumba and it starts out lovely and elegant. Mark pulls Kristi’s hair clip out which is quite sultry. This dance is perfect, it is like watching two professionals dance. Carrie thought it was very emotional and great. Len called it fabulous. Bruno said she was Kristi Yam-licious and stupendous. They’ll get some more ten’s out of this one. Two 10’s and a 9 from stingy Carrie Ann Inaba.

The next performers are Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough, who was taken to the hospital for food poisoning earlier today. I’m telling you someone broke superstition on this set. They are dancing the Samba and Shannon is worried about looking awkward. Her legs look shiney and weird. Shannon does not look as graceful as she did last week, maybe she is worried that Derek is going to hurl on her. Len thought that it was not good enough, not enough hip action. Bruno said it had no bounce and was maybe too hard for her. Carrie liked that it was ambitious but lacked bounce. Two 8’s and a 7 from Bruno for a 23.

Finally, the last dancers are Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska doing the Rhumba. I think it is funny that Jason is just wearing a sweater and slacks, the other guys must be so jealous. It was lovely. Bruno said Jason had the look of a love god. Carrie said they had insane chemistry, but Jason should be careful of his arms when they are down. Len liked it but is not a big fan of Edyta’s poses, I’m not either. Three 9’s for a total of 27.

This show felt like it was 8 hours long…

Dancing with the Stars Week 4 Recap

The theme this week - who will knock Kristi Yamaguchi from the top? Cristian de la Fuente said “Watch out Kristi!” We get to see nice Guy Gute (Steve Guttenberg) get the send off. It won’t be the same without him this week. We do know that this week is Paso Doble’s and Waltzes. The stars are coming down the steps and here are my first impressions:

Cheryl and Cristian are baring it all - geez. It appears Derek Hough will be dancing this week. Tony Dovolani is also baring it all. Geez - no Maks this season so we have to get our fix somewhere. Oh no, Adam Carolla has a cheesy moustache on. Kristi Yamaguchi looks very pretty and let out a big sigh as in to catch her breath and take it all in. She looks nervous. I guess she is first - that’s why. The crowd is going nuts - geez - did they take some happy crowd pills before the show?

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas dance the Paso Doble. Kristi mentions that the emotional side seems more important than the technical side. This week she will need to be intense and passionate. Let’s see if she can do just that. She is decked out in purple velvet by the way and looks amazing. Love the music - 80’s Classic - Blue Monday. It was pretty good - it did feel kind of short though. Here’s what the judges thought - sunshine started first (Len - LOL). Len said the choreography was great, but criticized that every dance has the same feel. Bruno over-rides that and that she unleased it tonight. Carrie Ann mentioned again how Kristi set the standard for everyone and was so excited watching it. Poor Len - no one agreed with him. She received 2 10’s and a 9 from Len for a total of 29 out of 30 Kristi let out a huge wail at the sight of the 10. Cute! In the background, Marissa keeps beating Jason Taylor’s shoulders and giving his little squeezes as she sits behind him. It looks like she is beating on him. LOL! Also sitting back in the back are Priscilla and Shannon Elizabeth who look like they are wearing the same outfit. LOL!

Oh yes - lovely - more DVR problems. Have I said yet that I hate Direct TV DVR and HD ? Yep, something is wrong with my HD and it stopped at the 10 min mark. Unfortunately I didn’t know this until I was on pause for a good 15 minutes. You’ll have to catch Bridget’s recap on who I missed. I’ll have to watch the videos tomorrow. Can we say PISSED?!!!! ARGGGH!

I managed to turn it over the non-HD version and it of course is playing. At least I get to see some - geez - I hate technology sometimes…up next are Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez.

Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez dance the Viennese Waltz and her biggest challenge is getting dizzy because of her deafness. They butt heads in practice - more like Marlee butting heads with herself because she wants to get it right. She’s all decked out in orange. She’s an actress and is very good at showing emotion. Kristi Yamaguchi should take note. She glides across the floor, but it seems rather slow. I was a bit bored tonight - perhaps waltzes just aren’t my thing. No, I know they aren’t. The crowd did like it though. The crowd is on their feet - guess they liked it. Let’s see if the judges were bored like I was. Len said he thought it was very, very good. It had a romance about it - was very pleased. In hold, your head is a bit bizarre and posture needs worked on. Bruno said she was totally immersed in the role - Len is right about the posture - keep the bum under so your chest is up. Carrie Ann is crying - she agreed about the posture - her breath was taken away - she was truly touched. Hmmmm. Her scores were 8’s across the board for a total of 24 out of 30. Backstage Fabian was pretend blowing his nose on Marlee’s dress and play sobbing uncontrollably. It was hilarious.

Mario (I took a tumble down the leaderboard last week) and Karina Smirnoff have the Paso Doble this week. I have a feeling this could be a good week for him. Karina has him doing push-ups and bench press - only he is bench pressing Karina. Wonder how much she weighs? Ok, we start it off and he is going manic with the yellow cape. He has on a sequined jacket which looks like a cross between The Beatles Sgt. Pepper and Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean Jacket. It fits the theme. He has on an angry face and they are rough and passionate - he stomps his feet just like a matador does. I liked their trick at the end. She runs and flips over his shoulder and lands in the splits - very nice. Bruno said it is Mario the conquerer - you were strong and powerful. Carrie Ann liked it and said you could tell he spent the hours in rehearsales. Len admired his spirt, but that he’s got one style of dance that is wild. Bruno disagreed. Len did say he has underpants older than Mario - LOL! Don’t know what that is about. Backstage Samantha played off it and said that someone better buy Len new drawers because he was once again tough on Mario. LOL! His scores were an 8 from Carrie Ann, 7 from Len, and a 9 from Bruno for a total of 24 out of 30. Bruno is very generous and Len is very stingy again. Tom asked Len what brand his undies were and Len just laughed. haha!

I just spied Zach Wilson or Zack Wilson (however you spell it) who is Julianne’s ex fiance’ or current? boyfriend/flame/friend in the audience. Who knows what they are? He is sitting right behind Len and Carrie Ann. Check him out in the DVR replays if you want to see him. He is looking as cute as ever. If you don’t know - Zach/Zack was on Dance Wars with Carrie and Bruno. He was on Bruno’s team and his team won. K, nuff said.

Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are up next - guess they must have a waltz this week. Please don’t bore me. Edyta wants Jason to treat him like a lady. She took him to an expert to show him - He dresses up in a knight’s costume so that he can act more like a knight in shining honor. He breaks that up and starts hip hop dancing - it was hilarious. He we go - he looks very handsome and Edyta beautiful as usual. He makes feminine moves look so manly. He isn’t an actor, but you can feel the emotion. The dance was very sexy, classy and elegant. It held my attention all the way through. Very nice! Carrie Ann seems all hot and bothered. She said it was beautiful and it was seductive. She mentioned he stumbled (I didn’t see it) but she will forgive him for that. Len said (while Jason hides behind Edyta - he’s so damn cute) that was a WOW of a waltz. Bruno said he managed to make it sexy and erotic. He liked it. Jason received 2 10’s and a 9 from Len. He is tied with Kristi Yamaguchi with a 29 out of 30. Jason is so glad that the “featherduster lives!” LOL! I’m so happy for Edyta - she is finally going to get her chance this season.

Crisitian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke are up now doing the Paso Doble. Will this be as good as the Thriller Paso Doble that Cheryl and Drew Lachey did. Cheryl is having fits at Cristian in practice and losing patience with him. Cheryl promoted her dance studio opening and Drew was there to give him advice. They hold the mirrorball trophy acting like they won it…funny! We started and Cristian is baring his entire upperhalf. Cheryl is wearing shiny black leather showing off her tummy. They make a beautiful couple. Cristian is really sticking his chest out. He also has facial hair this week. They did a move where he lets out a loud manly gruff like he is disgusted. LOL! And another one when he stomped. And another one at the end. Wow he was rough and tough. He didn’t do too bad and some of the audience is on their feet. Cheryl said he is crazy. Len liked the passion and drama - and intensity. Len said they didn’t really conquer the music, but another fine performance. Bruno said he had the pride and power in the biggest ballroom - very spanish and latino and he liked it. Carrie Ann said she disagreed with Len and they were right there with the powerful music. Carrie Ann told him to watch his eyes out of the hold because he gets glazed over like ‘OMG, Cheryl is not here’. LOL! Samantha asks Cristian to do another one of those manly grunts backstage and he does - LOL! I am laughing lots tonight at him. He received 2 9’s and an 8 from Len. His total was 26 out of 30.

Yep, we blogged about it - and now we get to see it. We get to see Derek Hough injure his neck. Read Bridget’s blog post about Derek Hough’s neck injury here. We get to see it happen and him go off on a gurney. Shannon Elizabeth is wiping away tears. Awww. Now, we really get to see the drama unfold - before it was just a teaser before commercial. He is on the gurney and is holding Shannon’s hand. She kisses him on the cheek. He comes back with a neck brace. Shannon practices with Jonathon Roberts. He finally gets up because he can’t contain himself and he tries it with the neck brace. Shannon keeps telling him to sit down, but he won’t. He is stubborn. Well they are up and he doens’t have a brace on. She is gorgeous and they dance to Avril Lavigne’s song entitled Keep Holding On. Aww, will this bring me to tears? She looks like a princess. Her turn was a little messed up, but as she glides it is just lovely. They end and he looks like he wants to kiss her on the lips. They are darling together and I just loved it despite the messy turns. Bruno said she has graduated into a class act. It was like Spring. Carrie Ann said that something is definitely happening (a possible romance? that’s just my opinion) - she is letting her body find its own movement. Len said that was the best dance tonight. Will she get a 30? She received 2 9’s from Carrie Ann and Bruno and Len gave them a 10 for a total of 28 out of 30. Derek grabs the camera and as Samantha says “makes out” with it. LOL! Although he didn’t make out he just grabbed it and said I love you to Len. Is it just me or does Derek and Shannon make a great couple? I love these 2.

We’re back from a long 3 minute commercial (what happened to the 2 minute commercials) and Tom reminds us 5 10’s have been given out already. Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani are up next and we are reminded of her boring jive. They need to get her better makeup and clothes - geez - gaudy. Tony is really working her and said he is going to give her professional dance steps. She did say she hasn’t lost any weight so far - so maybe with the complicated dancing she will. Maybe Tony has been easier on her so far? We’ll see. She is precise and her smile has been wiped off for this performance. There is fire and passion here. She stomps well and does some high kicks. She’s got some nice floor tricks in there too. They end passionately on the floor and I do believe this is her best dance so far. We do get to see Debbie or Debra as she likes to go by now because I guess it is more sophisticated Gibson up on her feet cheering for Marissa. The crowd likes it and Carrie Ann (she said Tony is giving her dirty looks) said she loved it and that is what she was looking for. Len said at least the true Marissa is coming out. Keep it up. Bruno said that is the way to go - you took risks and are a strong performer. Marissa jumped up and down and hugged Tom. She’s cute. She received 3 8’s for a total of 24 out of 30. Her best score so far.

That is the end of the show, but I was able to catch Priscille Presley and Louis Van Amstel dance their waltz. Thanks YouTube. Louis takes Priscilla rollerblading because it resembles the rise and fall of the waltz. Priscilla is turning and skating really well. She tells Kristi they are coming for her. LOL! Nice pun, Priscilla. I didn’t think her hold was that great or her head, but she did glide elegantly across the floor and I would bet that they get in trouble for a lift at the end. What do I know though? Lisa Marie is in the audience again. It is great to see her supporting her Mom. Bruno told her to watch her shoulder and neckline (yep, just what I thought). He did think it was great though. Carrie Ann pointed out her face in how she never makes it look like she messes up. Carrie Ann thought her face was mesmerizing, but said her balance was off - and called out the lift. Len said it had elegance and flow, but that it looked rush. He will drop a point for the lift. Tom said the lift police are back. Yep, they are and I was right there with them. Tom points out that Cheryl Crow will rock the ballroom tonight. I can hardly wait - NOT! Her scores were 2 7’s and an 8 from Bruno for a total of 22 out of 30.

Thanks to YouTube I also get to catch Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough dancing the Paso Doble. I heard from Bridget that this is quite comical and she said one word - unicycle so I can’t even imagine what I am in store for now. We see him doing these horrid looking jumps and hops in practice. I couldn’t contain my laughter. Adam said he is now in it not to lose it. Way to think positive there, Adam. The lights go black where the band is and we see flames. Julianne is waiting for her man. He comes out on a unicycle dressed as Zorro. Wow he can really ride that thing. He puts his arms out spreading out his cape like batman while riding the unicycle. He actually dances too although there wasn’t much stomping going on, but what moves he did looked actually good. He really is turning into a dancer. I forgot to mention that he wears his mask the whole time and at the end Julianne rips it off. I really liked this. Julianne loved it saying “that was freakin awesome”. Bruno has his head down and he shakes it back and forth. He looks like he is laughing and can’t contain himself. Carrie Ann said that it was smooth, it was dramatic, your turns were fantastic and then you got off the unicycle - it was interesting and he received an A for creativity. Len said he is such a lovable character that we just want him to do well, but unfortunately he isn’t a dancer - and he stumbles so much over his words I can’t understand - but he did say well done. I honestly think they don’t know what to make of it. Very unique at that. Bruno said that genius and insanity go hand in hand and that Adam is the classic example of that. He said when it comes to dance insanity takes over. LOL! We’re backstage and Julianne is wearing the mask now and looks funny. They receive 2 6’s from Carrie Ann and Bruno and a 7 from Len for a total of 19 out of 30. Booo - they deserved better.

Ok, finally here is our leaderboard:
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 29 out of 30
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 29 out of 30
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough 28 out of 30
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke 26 out of 30
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez 24 out of 30
Mario and Karina Smirnoff 24 out of 30
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolanie 24 out of 30
Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel 22 out of 30
Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough 19 out of 30

Dare I say that Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel might be in trouble this week? Hmmm..I think America will keep Adam Carolla because of the comedic relief. We’ll see though. My favorite dance of the night goes to Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough!

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are opening tonight’s show with a Paso Doble. I’m sure they will nail it technically, but can she play the part? I like their costumes, the deep purple and gold looks great on both of them. I don’t know what this song is, but it is horrible. I don’t know how you do a Paso Doble to this song. I have to admit that this dance is perfect, the choreography is great and I even sense a slight emotional connection from Kristi. Len said it was great but his only criticism was the sameness of all of the dances, on an emotional level, from Kristi…I’m picking up what he is putting down. Bruno and Carrie loved it. Two 10’s and a 9 from Carrie. First 10’s of the season, here we go!

Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel are doing the Viennese Waltz, one of my favorites. Priscilla threatens to out dance Kristi Yamaguchi this week, I think she could beat her on fan base, but not on dancing alone. However, Priscilla Presley is one hot mama in a nearly nude bodiced dress, she is literally swimming in a sea of green sleeves and fabric the whole thing is stunning. The dance is lovely, the choreography is fabulous, you can see Louis’ personality in his choreography, it is always fluid and refined. The judges seem to like the dance, with only minor complaints, but Len and Carrie said they had to deduct points for a lift…I did not see that and if it was there it was accidental. Two 7’s and an 8 from Bruno for 22, not enough to beat out Kristi, but maybe next week says Priscilla.

Adam Carolla & Julianne Hough are doing the Paso Doble. Adam says Julianne thinks he is a dancer so she is making the steps harder. They begin the dance with Adam on a unicycle, which is crazy but somehow works. The dance itself is great and Adam wore a mask through the whole thing, I’m guessing to help him keep the mean Paso Doble face. Carrie said it was smooth and fantastic, and then he got off the unicycle. Len called Adam a lovable character, but not much of a dancer compared to the others. Adam thanked the wardrobe department for dressing him like a silent porn star, Julianne looked embarrassed by that comment. Bruno said Adam was a classic example of how genius and insanity go hand in hand. Two 6’s and a 7 from Len for a 19, Adam laughs it off and promotes, “The Hammer”. I still love him.

Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez are up with the Viennese Waltz. Marlee also is out to beat Kristi Yamaguchi. Marlee is nervous about the dance because of all the spins and balance that are required, I have faith. I love this song, Billy Joel’s “Always a Woman” Marlee Matlin looks like she is losing weight, lucky gal. I like the artistry of their choreography, they are playing the love song card and it is beautiful. I was hoping for them to go for a little more speed and spinning, but still very nice. Len said it was poignant, but Marlee’s head and posture need some work in certain holds. Bruno liked how she interprets the music and gets into the role, but that he agreed with Len about the posture. Carrie was crying and could hardly speak, I bet my mom was sobbing too. Three 8’s for a 24 still no beating that Kristi Yamaguchi.

Up next is Mario and Karina Smirnoff trying to make up for last weeks low score. They are doing the Paso Doble, which should be a good dance for him, he plays that aggressive strong male well. Their music is rock, which makes for a very exciting dance. Karina’s dress is red with gold trim that really sparkles when she moves. I think they look great it is exciting to watch them moving so deftly across the stage. I’m not certain Mario is completely in control but I like it a lot. Bruno said it was strong and powerful and he liked it. Carrie said his posture got weird a few times. Len said Mario only had one style of dance and it is wild and he should work on the styling a little bit more. Bruno and Carrie were appalled by his comments. Samantha asked some dumb question and Mario used his answer as a chance to plug his album. They get a 24 with a 8 from Carrie, a 7 from Len, and a 9(!!) from Bruno.

The next performers are Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska. I need to say this, I really don’t like Edyta. I think this has something to do with her having been Cameron Mathison’s partner last season, just needed to put that out there. They did some schtick promotion for Medieval Times, which is probably owned by Disney, which owns ABC. They are doing the Viennese Waltz it is ok, I think Jason messed up a hold here in the beginning and he is pretty stiff in his soldiers. I’m pretty sure he tripped over Edyta’s skirt, yikes. They end in the splits, which was a nice touch. I was bored with this dance though, I don’t know what all the catcalling in the audience is about. All the judges love it, calling it sexy and elegant. Carrie did call out the stumble on the skirt but said she would forgive it. Carrie gives him a 10!!!, Len a 9, and Bruno another 10!! WOW!! They caught up with the dancing celebrity juggernaut that is Kristi Yamaguchi, woohoo.

Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke are back this week doing the Paso Doble, this should be his dance, even though they pretend that it is hard for him to learn. They go to the opening of Cheryl’s dance studio, Cristian is wearing a weird scarf to the event, icky. First off, these costumes are some of the worst yet. Cristian is in tight pants, and a long jacket with no shirt and a rosary around is neck. Cheryl is in some crazy and hideous dominatrix outfit. The dance is all right, they have the fiery feeling of the Paso Doble down perfect, and there is a lot of yelling going on. I think there were some issues though I can’t put my finger on them. Len thought the music conquered them a little bit, I can see what he means. Bruno really liked it and Carrie disagreed with Len about the music but told him to watch his eyes when he is out of the hold, because they get a little glazed over. Funny. Samantha interviews him backstage and he says something about his grandfather which she ignores. They score a 9 from Carrie and Bruno and an 8 from Len for a total of 26.

Next up is Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough, they are already milking his neck drama. Derek has a rhinestone neck brace, clever. They show some clips of him snapping his neck and being taken away in an ambulance, it looked staged. Derek choreographed the dance from a chair with Jonathan Roberts standing in for him. He overdid it while the cameras were rolling. They are doing the Viennese Waltz because I’m sure it was not as bad as the dramatic montage. They look great doing the waltz and if Derek is dancing through pain it does not show. I am impressed with Shannon’s agility on the dance floor she is improving by leaps and bounds. Bruno said the hot babe has graduated into a class act. Carrie said it was really refreshing and Len loved it too. Shannon compliments Jonathan for his help with practice, Derek acted offended. They get two two 9’s and a 10 from Len for a total of 28. It looks like the other celebs are gaining on Mrs. Yamaguchi.

Up last is Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani with the Paso Doble, I bet it will be terrible. As usual she is frustrated and looking like she does not know what she is doing. I really hope she goes home this week. Their costumes are very traditional and hideous. Her kicks are kind of low and they are moving too slowly for my tastes. The audience is standing but I think it was bad and she is going to get called out for it. Nope, Carrie thought it was fantastic and that she finally channeled all of her emotions into the dance. Bruno & Len said about the same, I must be watching another show or maybe I just really dislike her. She is giddy and annoying backstage. Three 8’s across the board for a 24, whatever. I still hate her.

Tough choices tonight for top dance, no doubt that Kristi Yamaguchi was the best, but I think my favorite was Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough and my least, again was Marissa Jaret Winokur, please go home Marissa!!

Week 3: Dancing with the Stars

Well my Tivo is acting up because it is raining outside. I am getting major pixels, people, and I am not very happy about it. First impressions (as seen through the pixels) - I didn’t recognize Julianne Hough. Cristian de la Fuente is all turquoised up.

Tonight is the night of Tangos and Jives. I love Jives - tangos, eh, ok. Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez dance the jive first and I missed all of it except the end. I also missed the judges comments. Guess I’ll have to catch that whole dance online. Marlee received a total of 21 out of 30. All I know is, I hope spunky Marissa Jaret Winokur has the jive this week - this is totally her dance.

The Gute - Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya are dancing the tango this week. Will guy smiley, Steve, be able to wipe the large smile off his face and get serious? Anna’s hubby, Jonathon Roberts (partnered with Monica Seles and eliminated last week) came in to dance with Steve while Anna was out sick. It was actually quite funny especially when Steve said he’s hairy! This dance should suit Steve’s stiffness for sure and it does. He is in serious mode and no smile is present. Not bad - he did stick his chin out really far - guess that is his mean face. LOL! I’m actually impressed this dance. Steve cuts off Tom Bergeron and goes to get a metal bowl that he slips on his head and goggles. Funny, Steve.

Carrie Ann laughs said she can’t talk to him like that, but that was his best dance so far. Len said the actor came out this time and the footwork was fantastic - much improved. Bruno said “it’s revenge of The Gute” this time. Guess the bowl over his head and the goggles worked as far as the judges comments go. He’s a nut! He received 21 out 0f 30 and is currently tied with Marlee Matlin. Steve said this show will knock everyone’s socks off tonight. He referred to everyone as his teammates. Should we tell Steve that they are his competitors not his teammates. C’mon Gute, get with the program!

Len referred to his Quickstep as “Faster than wind from a Duck’s bottom” LOL!, Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke are doing the jive this week. Cheryl is getting on Cristian, which is just like she was with Drew and Emmitt - and that won her the competition. Cristian is struggling during practice so they go to Sea World - I don’t get the connection at all. DUMB if you ask me! Here we go…He does the spilts off the stage and wow this is fast. Nice kicks Cristian - really high. I am liking this. They do some complicated tricks. Their last trick, the ran out of room and Cristian slid through and kicked lights (I think). But it ended fine - nothing wrong with kicking some lights. I really liked this jive. The crowd seemed to have liked it too. Let’s see if the judges did.

Bruno - are you on rocket fuel tonight? You definitely had a good time. Deliver you did - your best dance yet. Len said his legs were a little loose and it could have been stronger, but it was the best dance he has done so far. Carrie Ann said she thinks he has a great shot at this because he improves greatly each work. She also commented on his loose arm, but said it was fantastic. I couldn’t agree more. He rec’d 2 8’s from Len and Carrie Ann and a 9 from Bruno for a 25 out of 30.

Before we went to commercial, we cut to Mario and Jason sitting on the couch along with Adam Carolla at the end of the couch and Tom referred to them as our “Top Scoring Men and Adam!” LOL! Good thing Adam has a sense of humor. He wouldn’t have it any other way, would he?

Mario and Karina Smirnoff dance the tango this evening. Mario was all over the US this week performing. He took Karina with him. Karina was concerned that they don’t have enough time to rehearse. Karina lets him have it stating “are we gonna get it? Honestly, I don’t think so.” Hmmm…let’s see. Nice complicated footwork - I like it so far. It is very crisp and sharp. They dance to Roxanne by The Police that sounds like it is sang by Count Dracula from Sesame Street. They look like they messed up a few steps in the corner, but overall it was a pretty good performance - he looks pretty happy.

Len said the dance had flair but the dance was amiss - it lacked posture, hold was bad and he was BITTERLY disappointed tonight. Carrie Ann agreed saying it was a disappointment - and a lot of missteps. Bruno said he didn’t think it was that bad and also pointed out the mistake in the corner, but said he didn’t think it was that bad in his opinion and he didn’t think it was a “pile of oops I can’t say that”. LOL! Pile of what, Bruno? Doodoo? He received a 7 from Carrie Ann, 6 from Len, and an 8 from Bruno for a total of 21 out of 30. There’s a threeway tie between Marlee and Steve. Backstage I saw some man boobs on Mario. Sorry I just had to say that because they were pretty distracting. Strange, but the truth. I didn’t think the dance was THAT bad - geez. Weird night.

Tom said he just has one word for Len and that is Fiber - frees you up. Len thought that was funny and Bruno was laughing so hard I think he might have hacked up a lung. Even Tom laughed at his own joke.

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough dance the jive this week. I’m anxious to see her long legs do those kicks. Shannon compared the kicking to kick boxing which she understands. Her and Derek are in the ring and she is kicking his A$$! LOL! She looks excited and happy. They both start off doing cartwheels. She is wearing lots of fringe tonight - looks like a shaggy yellow rug. Her kicks weren’t that high, but she did ok. She was way out of breath afterwards and is bending over breathing. They all sit on the floor to rest. Let’s hope we don’t have another Marie Osmond passing out moment.

Bruno told her to work on precision and control now, but the rest is very good. Len said tonight he saw a really good job. Tom Bergeron interrupted stating “there’s so much heavy breathing down here that I feel like I’m sitting next to a 900 number” LOL - Tom is ON FIRE tonight. Carrie Ann said you are suprising and so much fun to watch. Shannon and Derek fall backwards and lie flat on the floor…she needs to get some cardio stamina. Dang! Her scores were 8’s across the board for a 24 out of 30.

Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough dance the tango - and Julianne is sportin’ this short brunette wig. Adam says 5 days is not enough time to learn the tango. Adam says he fees ashamed and embarrassed and doesn’t want to let Julianne down. He really is taking this seriously. He did say that she deserves better - awwww - poor Adam. Adam said he is going to make America a promise - 1. We are gonna see a tango and 2. This chick is not gonna go anywhere. Let’s hope!

Adam pops up behind the judges table with a rose in his mouth. He has a serious face on it and it doesn’t look normal. He also has somewhat of a fish face on during some of the moves like where the cheeks are caved in. Honestly, I thought this was rather good for him. Tom said “This man is becoming a dancer”. I am actually quite impressed. Tom is impressed too. Now I’ve got it - Julianne looks like Jane Seymour when Jane did the tango. Could it be the same wig? Perhaps! Adam interrupted saying “I don’t know who dressed this little Gal, but the Sandy Duncan wig and the Frier’s Frock is not helping our cause” LOL! Oopsy - Adam said - there’s a couple of gay guys upstairs in wardrobe, but possibly - oopsy awkward laugh from Tom. The judges are speechless.

Carrie Ann said “I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but Adam Carolla was quite sexy out there. That’s the end of it.” Bruno said “If I kind of close my eyes I almost see Antonio Banderas and Katherine Zeta Jones.” LOL! He says he isn’t a master technician, but he’s getting better. Len said choreography is like makeup - it can cover a multitude of sins. He congratulated Julianne in making Adam a dancer. He received all 7’s for a total of 21 out of 30. While Bruno was delivering his score he made it sound just like Len and he got a big kick out if - as did Len. It was funny.

OMG! Kristi’s hair is plastered to her face and looks like Medusa - ugh! Looks like snakes. I do not like it and I’m not sure how I will focus on her dance with those snakes on her face. We are backstage with Adam and Julianne and Adam is putting his foot in his mouth more - let’s hope his mouth doesn’t get him into trouble with America. Samantha tries to recover and well - she doesn’t do a very good job of it.

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani dance the jive this week - goody - this is gonna be her week I hope. Tony said this dance is the perfect dance for her - it is flicky and kicky. LOL! Marissa said Tony doesn’t know how to tell jokes and we get a sample of his jokes and she’s very right. Doesn’t make sense. Marissa agrees with me that this is her dance - yep I know! I do not like her hair at all though..yucky!

Um, honestly, I expected more - perhaps her size kept her from doing the high kicks and lots of kicks - and I do not mean that in a derogatory way. I guess I just expected more. It didn’t seem like it had a lot of energy. It looks like she is pretty happy about the performance so we’ll see what the judges think.

Len said what you did you did well - it was a little bit careful and careful doesn’t win DWTS. There was 1 or 2 foot faults. Carrie Ann said it was boring and she was so much better than that. She said she isn’t putting her down, but she needs to give it her best. Bruno said it was like a jive on cruise control. He is picking on her because she has the talent and she just needs to show it and flaunt it. She looks sad, but I couldn’t agree with the judges more. Her scores were 2 6’s and a 7 from Len for a total of 19 out of 30. Marissa is begging for votes - she wants to stay. We’ll see.

Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel dance the tango. I think this dance might be right up her ally. Louis is showing her his fast moves and mentions that her being precise will really work this week. Let’s see if the precision is there. She’s a great little actress. Hmm..I wasn’t as impressed. I felt it lacked crispness and I was a bit bored. Let’s see if the judges were bored too.

Bruno said it was full of passion and drama and they did a great job. Len loved the start “don’t touch what you can’t afford sunshine.” passion, drama, fire and ice - great. Carrie Ann agreed and was mesmerized, but to work on her neck. Hmm… I am shocked that they liked it so much. Perhaps I missed something. Her scores were 2 9’s from Len and Bruno and an 8 from Carrie Ann. Best score of the night 26 out of 30.

Finally Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are last dancing the jive. oohhh - can’t wait to see this. He is very frustrated in practice so we’ll see how he does. Not looking good so far. He starts out lipsyncing. I think his pants are bit too long for him. I actually liked this dance - high kicks very nice for him.

Carrie Ann is amazed at how big he is and how well he can do this. His lines made her breathless, but she didn’t feel the confidence. Bruno said he was light on his feet and he loves his line. Bruno liked it. Len liked the lines and the tricks, but didn’t like the rest of it. He said the kicks were sloppy and it wasn’t great. Hmmm…I didn’t see the same thing Len did. Booo on Len. He needs a spoonful of fiber, right Tom! His scores were 2 8’s from Carrie Ann and Bruno and a stingy 7 from stingy Len for a total out of 23 out of 30.

Tom acts like he is choking and motions for the host of Survivor Jeff Probst to come and take over and that he does - really well. Watch out, Tom, Jeff might be taking your job.

Kristi Yamaguchi is last - oops I thought Jason was - I totally forgot about Kristi. Those snakes on her face are distracting. She’s got the tango and Mark Ballas, her partner is concerned because of the passion that he thinks Kristi lacks. She looks very uncomfortable during practice. She’s got a wonderful hold and posture. Mark does an excellent job of wind biting and acting like it hurts. LOL! Kristi just keeps a stone face on like she couldn’t care less. She did the steps to perfection though - just not a lot of anger and passion there.

Len said he liked it very much and said she is very talented, her head went a bit forward which was disturbing, but he liked it. Carrie Ann said the emotion wasn’t there - her anger was one dimensional. Carrie Ann said she doesn’t feel much when Kristi dances. Bruno wants Kristi to be a dirty girl. Technically she has nothing to worry about. Her scores were all 9’s for a total of 27 out of 30.

The leaderboard is as follows after Week 3:

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 27 out of 30
Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel 26 out of 30
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke 25 out of 30
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough 24 out of 30
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 23 out of 30
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez 21 out of 30
Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya 21 out of 30
Mario and Karina Smirnoff 21 out of 30
Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough 21 out of 30
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani 19 out of 30

My favorite of the night would have to be Cristian and Cheryl followed closely by Adam and Julianne (seriously). Oh and my question to Bridget - why would they be plugging Survivor when it is on CBS and DWTS is on ABC? I think you ARE tired tonight, Bridget. LOL!

Dancing With The Stars Week 3

Ok kids, the gloves are off. The really obvious losers are out and once Adam Carolla is eliminated we will be down to a serious competition. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing but love for Adam and I bet he will be around for a while because he is so darn funny. Well, wait Marissa Jaret Winokur is still with us and she stinks…hmmm Samantha looks lovely in red tonight, not showing off too much of the twins. Julianne Hough looks weird in that crazy wig, Steve Guttenberg looks adorable…love him!! Kristi Yamaguchi is sporting some crazy Cruella DeVille hair, yikes.

Ooh Marlee Matlin is opening the show, I hope she can keep up the spunk from the last couple of weeks. They are doing the Jive, this could be challenging. They showcase Marlee and Fabian Sanchez’ relationship, they are really cute he seems especially fun. They are working some Billy Joel,. which I love. Yeah, Marlee is amazing. She totally works the crowd with her facial expressions and her footwork is fabulous. Wow, again for three weeks running!! My mom is watching this with me and she is crying, what a nerd she is!! Len says she is amazing. Bruno talked about how she connected with the audience but that she lost the timing a couple of times and the under arm timing could have been smoother, Carrie complained about her hands…I guess it is good that they can be nit picky. I think they are cutting Samantha Harris out of the interview shots because of her mic flubbing last week, how funny. Three 7’s for a total of 21, pretty good-I bet the judging will get a lot tougher from now on.

Dancing second is my pal Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskya doing the Tango. Anna’s husband Jonathan shows up to practice with Steve because Anna is sick, this is kind of crazy. Anna looks beautiful in a red dress, Steve is working hard to play macho man. I think he is pulling it off pretty well. The very traditional Tango is nice to see and I think Steve is handling it rather well, he maintained his straight face throughout the dance. Steve is doing some kind of schtick, haha he put on goggles and a helmet before the judges comments and refused to take them off. Even after Carrie said it was her favorite dance so far. Len said it was much improved and the footwork was perfect, Bruno loved it too! Yay for Steve Guttenberg!! Three 7’s again for a total of 21.

Cristian de la Fuente is third, he is not big on sleeves. He and Cheryl Burke are going to Jive, I bet it will be fabulous. Tom Bergeron told a horrible joke about duck gas but I love it. Cheryl and Cristian go to Sea World for some cross promotion, I mean ummm, dancing lessons. Christian does a flying toe touch off the top steps that looks a little crazy. Something is wrong here, Cristian has a crazy look on his face that is kind of scary and I think he got off beat in the beginning. No, I don’t really like this, maybe their death spiral got out of whack in the end? Why is everyone cheering so much, I did not like it. Bruno loved it and called it his best dance yet. Len said his legs and free arm could have been stronger but agreed that it was his best dance so far, Carrie concurred with Len. I don’t get it. Three 8’s and a 9 from Bruno for a total of 25. Samantha points out that it is the best score of the night, yeah he is only number three!!!

Mario and his secret lover Karina Smirnoff are fourth. Karina is on the road with Mario while his album blows up, at a high school and FIU…what a big star he is. They are going to do the Tango and it starts out super sultry. The band is playing one of my favorite songs of all time and the arrangement makes me want to poke my ears out with a fork. I could not really focus on the dance because of the music, but it was ok I guess, kind of boring. Len said the holds and posture were bad, he said Mario disappointed him tonight. Carrie agreed that there were a lot of missteps in the end and she has high expectations for him. Bruno thought he could do better but it was not as bad as the other judges said. Whoa 7 from Carrie, 6 from Len, and 8 from Bruno for 21 we don’t see big differences like that often. I love the drama…too bad I still don’t really know who Mario is.

Next is Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough who I think will continue to surprise us this week. They are going to do the Jive and they practice by doing kick boxing, these segments are so cheesy. They open the dance with dual cartwheels which I really love. The choreography is very cute and fun but Shannon seems little bit nervous and her lack of grace is apparent in this dance. Her footwork looks sloppy when it should look sharp. She comes off the stage and she, Derek, and Tom sit down to catch their breath. Bruno said she needs to work on her finish and her precision. Len thought it was really good. Carrie says Shannon is fun to watch. Are they watching the same program I am???? Three 8’s for a total of 24.

Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough are doing the Tango next. They show Adam hurting Julianne in rehearsal, he’s really not a good dancer. Adam was his usual very funny self. He begins the dance behind the judges table, which was fun and different. Adam is working hard to look serious and he has a little mobster vibe thing going on. It may be surprising but he is actually doing a pretty decent job, reports of his inability to dance have been highly exaggerated. Julianne almost loses her wig, which Adam refers to as the Sandy Duncan wig and the fryers frock she is wearing as hurting their gig. He says there must be a couple of gay guys in wardrobe. Carrie and Bruno both “admit” that he is not bad, not a great technician but getting better. Len comments that Julianne’s good choreography is covering a lot of flaws and making it look like Adam can dance. Three 7’s including one from Bruno where he mimicked Len, very funny for a total of 21.

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovaloni are next, she is as annoying as usual. They are doing the Jive, I bet it will be too fast and she will be more annoying than usual. And I am wrong it is not too fast, it is actually kind of cute and I think she did a great job of not getting too wild and losing her footing. Len said it was too careful, Carrie said it was boring and that she was not giving her best. Bruno said it looked like a rehearsal and that he knows she has more talent than she is showing. Poor Marissa looked like she was going to cry. She is beside herself with confusion backstage, Tony is very sweet and supportive. Two 6’s and a 7 from Len for a 19, worst score of the night, yikes!

Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel are doing the Tango next. Priscilla says she is tapping into her acting skills, she’ll have to channel her alter ego Jenna Wade from Dallas. This is a great Tango so far. Everyone is going traditional tonight, but I don’t mind it. It is nice to be able to compare them evenly when they are so traditional. Priscilla looks fabulous, except for how pinched her face is. Bruno thinks it is great, Len and Carrie agreed. She gets two 9’s and an 8 from Carrie for a total of 26 and the best score of the night so far. Way to go old cougar!

Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska are up next doing the Jive. Jason is nervous about it and is not having much fun in practice. I doubt he has anything to worry about. The choreography is cute and lively. Is it me or is a bit slow for a Jive? I’m sure he lifted her off the floor in the middle and then again at the end, I doubt they will get called out for it. Carrie said his lines were beautiful but that he was a little small in his upper body. Bruno agreed that the lines were great, like a natural. Len said the rest of the dance was terrible, he called him a rooster last week and feather duster this week. Two 8’s and a 7 from Len for a total of 23.

Shameless Survivor plug, gag.

Closing out the show is ringer Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas doing the Tango. I’m sure it will be technically perfect, but I doubt she can express the emotion in a real tango. Kristi trying to be serious and sultry is about like Monica Seles trying to be sexy. We’ll see. I love this song, because Duran Duran is awesome, but this band version makes me sad. This Tango is putting me to sleep. Admittedly, I am very tired tonight, but this dance was boring. Was it just me or did it not really fit the music that well? Len liked the dance, he said something about her head being in the wrong position. Carrie said that her anger was one dimensional, not enough emotion. Bruno said he wanted Kristi to be a “dirty girl”, that’s not going to happen but it was funny for him to say anyway. Three 9’s yet again, based solely on technical performance.

My favorite dance of the evening was probably Steve Guttenberg or Adam Carolla, my worst was Mario and Shannon Elizabeth. It was a tough night though, no real stand outs for me…I think Mario might be in trouble tomorrow, those high school kids from Florida probably are not voting!!

DWTS Week 2: Mambos and Quicksteps

Posted By: admin On: March 25, 2008 Comments: ( 0 )

By: Alyssa

Tonights the night for everyone to redeem themselves with Mambos and Quicksteps. That’s because no one has gone home yet and they get one more chance to please the judges and America. We will send 2 couples home this week - 1 man and 1 woman.

Woooah! What’s going on with that dress, Samantha - kinda low, don’t you think? Geez? You need those boobs back from last season to fill that baby out.

First impressions: Kym Johnson’s outfit looks super slimming in the waist, Edyta Sliwinska looks super hot showing her abs, Julianne Hough looks freaky with her green outfit and 80’s style hair, Shannon Elizabeth and Monica Seles look super classy, what’s up with Marissa’s hair - can it get any higher?, Steve looks looser today, and Priscilla’s lips look like a heart - not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya is up first dancing the mambo. Anna feels like she is tough on Steve sometimes (yep, she is) so she has her Mom come in to assist. Her Mom and Steve get along wonderfully. Anna’s Mom said that they are the same age and they are both scared of Anna too. LOL! Despite Anna and her Mom helping, Steve didn’t look loose in his mambo. In fact, I saw no hip action whatsoever. He couldn’t even shake his shoulders loosely. His face was all smiles and the actor came out. Honestly, I didn’t really enjoy this - it was very, very amateuristic - and not even cute in my opinion.

Len said he can see that he’s trying, but didn’t think it really worked. Bruno said it was bad - bad footwork, bad timing and it seemed like the facial expressions took over. I can’t remember what Carrie Ann said - but I don’t think it was god. Steve looks like his feelings are hurt. He says he will work on it and respects their opinion. Awww. He received a total of 16 out of 30 this week for his Mambo. Steve is delusional and toooo overly nice when he responded to his 16 “Ya know what, this show makes this world a better place.” Tom responded with “We are making this world a better place one low score at a time.” LOL! Gotta love that Tom! His grand total for week 1 and 2 was a 34 out of 60.

Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke are next dancing the quickstep. Cristian says it brings out the child in him. He can be seen in practice jumping and hopping around. Cheryl looks pissed stating he isn’t taking it seriously. Cheryl makes him wear a military uniform to improve his posture - let’s see if it works. He finally puts on a smile and hops around. I was amazed at his hops - seemed a bit rushed, but it was fun. They ended by her sitting down and him doing a somersault over the top and sitting in the same position. Real cute!

Carrie Ann loved his improved posture, but said footwork could be a hair sharper. Len commented on the speed - how speedy it was - but was too wild. Bruno said loved the dancing gansta feel - but told him to watch his feet. His scores were 2 7’s from Bruno and Carrie Ann and a 6 from Len. Boo on Len. 20 out of 30 for tonight. Grand total 41 out of 60 (week 1 and week 2).

Monica Seles and Jonathon Roberts are up next. We see last weeks recap and her crying in the confessional where Jonathon said he was proud of her. She was very disappointed in her scores, but Jonathon said he was very proud of her. Monica feels very uncomfortable with the facial expressions because she never had to do them before on the tennis court. Her and Jonathon go to Japan as she has a prior engagement and they practice there usually up until midnight. Monica says she is having the time of her life and this is a dream come true so she will give it all to the Mambo because she doesn’t want to go home. We don’t want to see her go yet either. She’s all decked out in gold - and here we go…

She looked a little unsure in the turns, but did better this week, but still uncoordinated. The crowd was not on their feet this week. Bruno told her to connect with the music, but she got off the rhythm. Carrie Ann said she came out and attacked it and that is a huge break-thru. The form and technique is not there though. Len said she is out of her comfort zone and pointed out the things she brings to the tennis court should be the same thing she brings here - speed, coordination, etc. I love how they try to tie it to tennis - it can be somewhat similar, but not really in my opinion. We’re back after the break and we get Monica’s scores which are 5’s across the board for a 15 out of 30 this week. Her grand total is 30 out of 60. I must say that I do like to see Monica’s positive attitude - it wasn’t visible last week, but she has it this week and it is a much better improvement. Have you been reading our blog, Monica? Jonathon is really great with her - let’s see if they are still around next week though. I’m not so sure. I did read that Monica had tennis locker rooms plastered with posters to evoke voting out of her tennis comrades such as Lindsay Davenport. Let’s see if those votes help her at all.

Magician Penn Jillette and his partner Kym Johnson have the Quickstep this week. Will it be a slow quickstep or a fast one? Posture is a big issue for him and he worked with the too-small-for him posture bar. He is leaning on the ballerina bar and it breaks and he uses that as his posture bar. Not sure if that was planned or not, but it was hilarious seeing Penn lean on it, fall to the ground, and laugh hysterically.

He is holding a voodoo doll and does some magic with his tie that goes up by itself (probably with a magnet or something). He looks like bigfoot still - no pointed toes. I hope Kym doesn’t get her foot stepped on - could hurt at that speed. One thing is for sure - the audience seems entertained. He seems to keep up well and I actually liked it.

Len started talking and Penn moved off stage - Len was impressed with the proper quickstep techniques. Len points out his terrible feet though and to work on his feet rather than his tie going up and down. LOL! Bruno called it a mess - footwork was really, really, really bad. Carrie Ann liked him out there - something very odd, but entertaining, but work on his footwork. His other half Teller is in the audience still not talking and Penn trips as he goes up the steps - he said it was a joke, but I doubt it. Scores were 6’s from Len and Carrie Ann and a 5 from Bruno for a total of 17 out of 30 and a grand total of 33 out of 60. Very low scores this season. Penn keeps interrupting Samantha and she has to keep on talking. Bet she doesn’t like him.

Priscilla and her red hot heart lips are up next with partner Louis Van Amstel. She’s all decked out in animal print - go get em tiger. Priscilla has the mambo this week - and she looks very relaxed tonight - is it the outfit or the fact she got good scores last week? In the practice she wants to be perfect, but Louis wants her to just let go - even as a grandma you can do it. She looks a little stiff at first, but loosened up. My fiance said the music is embarrassing. I tend to agree. They did pretty good and ended with a very complicated move at the end where she crawled like a sexy minx to the camera. Wow!

Carrie Ann said you are so glamous and sexy - you have it. Len said he liked dancing it on the second beat. Len said it was too precise for him and Bruno agreed. Bruno said it was very good, but go for the sexuality. Carrie Ann said she was happy she didn’t overdo it. Her scores were 7’s across the board for a 21 out of 30. Grand total 45 out of 60.

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough dance the Quickstep this week. Shannon thinks the judges should have given her lower scores - she’s hard on herself - geez, girl. Lighten up. She has no cardio stamina during practice - wow, she is out of shape. Derek looks very nice in his tails. Wow they did EXCELLENT! I loved it. It was fast, complicated footwork - cutesy leg flips on the judges bench - wow - the ending was awesome. Bruno loved it saying that is what dancing is all about. Carrie Ann - that was very difficult, but you nailed it. Len said he isn’t as unbalanced mentally as Bruno and can’t carry on like him LOL but - she needs to be lighter in her hold, but it is the best dance so far tonight. I couldn’t agree more! She receives 24 out of 30 and she is happy with that (well you better be, Shannon). Her grand total was 45 out of 60.

By the way, the Jonas brothers are going to be on tomorrow night. They are a favorite among the teenie boppers. They’re ok - kind of remind me of Hanson.

Jason Taylor errr Len’s twin (according to Len - LOL) and sexy Edyta Sliwinska dance the Mambo next. Jason doesn’t like the Mambo already - he has a problem with the heal on the shoe (yep he had probs with the onesie too). Edyta is giving him a crazy routine - yep - get him, Edyta! She is wearing these tight little shorts and my fiance is going nuts with it. I must admit she is VERY hot. Dang he is good with his hips - I am shocked. He just might have a chance at winning this thing. Did Edyta keep her feet down? I think so - no lifts, Carrie Ann. I loved this performance - he is a dark horse I think!!

Len said called Jason a winner. Bruno said he is the mambo king tonight - you lead all the way through with conviction. Carrie Ann said he has a great shot at winning this - they look fantastic together and can only go up from here. I couldn’t agree more. His scores were 9’s across the board for a 27 out of 30. WOW!!! Jason thought he wouldn’t be able to do this, but said it is Edyta that she gets him in the mood - hmmm. They are gorgeous together. His grand total came to 49 out of 60. I hope Edyta takes it this year - she’s the only one who has been on every season of Dancing with the Stars. Go Edyta!

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani dance the Quick Step - will she be able to keep up and how will Tony hold on to her with her being so short. Marissa was very upset for messing up last week and was comparing herself to others. She is sad and upset and Tony says she has the x-factor that no one else has. He is referring to her charisma, energy, and personality. She’s all decked out in hot pink and has some big hair that I mentioned before. She’s very light on her feet. She is fast and light on her feet. She’s really keeping up. She has a big smile on her face the whole time and it is contagious. She is very excited after the performance.

Carrie Ann was disappointed because the synchronicity (however you spell it) was off, but she did a good job - she told her not give up. Len said she makes him smile - go with what you know - come out and perform. It was a great improvement on last week. Bruno said it was great fun and it was proper and classic and agreed with Len on the improvement. She got all 7’s for a total of 21 out of 30. Her grand total was 39 out of 60 although Samantha wasn’t too much help on that. Get with it, Samantha..not like you have lots to read on those cards there.

In the audience tonight was Jimmy Kimmel and his crazy sidekick Viermo. Len said he was hoping for Ben Affleck though. LOL!

Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough dance the Mambo tonight. Oh Lord! This is a disaster waiting to happen. Adam didn’t know the juding was going to be that tough. He thought he deserved a 5.5 or a 6. LOl! We see him trying to roll his hips and well, he isn’t doing it well. She mentions his pelvis and he said dudes don’t have one and she said “Ok, then, do it from your thingy.” LMAO! And is this a family show? Hmmm. Julianne thinks the mambo has gone to his head. Adam said “you think you know the mambo, well think again because this ain’t gonna be that.” I died laughing. It was kind of stiff, but not as bad as I thought it was. He had some tricks in there and they kissed at the end and she sat on Jimmy’s lap as she pushed Adam away.

Bruno said he has re-performed the mambo like he’s never seen before, but Adam made him laugh. Carrie Ann said she is wondering what Adam is going to call her tonight after she gives her score. I guess last week he might have called her the B word, but he swears his publicist’s name is Mitch and he referred to Mitch - sayin hey Mitch she gave me a 5. Hmmm… I think the scores are still out on that, Adam. She ends up saying you are entertaining - it was green, entertaining and cute. Len called it Brilliant - it was entertaining.

Carrie Ann gives him a 6, Len a 7, and Bruno a 6 for a total of 19 out of 30. Grand total came to 34 out of 60. Samantha tells him to quiet down as she pitches them. Yep, can’t talk over you or outshine you, eh? Apparently Julianne was pinching him that was the whole to-do. It was cute. I really like Julianne and Adam, but unfortunately I don’t think their dancing will keep them around very long.

Marlee Matlin is decked out in turquoise. They gave us a listen at what Marlee hears - which is very muffled sound. It was difficult I must say. She is getting upset with Fabian Sanchez in practice saying “Nobody’s perfect”. We see her twisting her ankle several times - ouch. Wow some complicated footwork. Her posture and hold weren’t that great but I still enjoyed it. Not everyone was up on their feet which shows it wasn’t a very GREAT performance, but it was still good. Her co-star of the L-Word, Jennifer Biel, was in the audience cheering her on.

Len thought it went into some mambo and wanted it more traditional..great job, well done though. Bruno agrees with Len, but very well executed. Carrie Ann said is blown away by her musicality. I see the character comes out, but said the hold was too loose - yep another point for me being right on with the judges. Marlee went backstage talked with Samantha about a fan who had asked her if she is going to be deaf the entire show. Uh! What? People can be so stupid sometimes. Marlee received all 8’s for a total of 24 out of 30 for a grand total of 46 out of 60.

Oh Lord, Len says Cameron Mathison is back tomorrow night wearing sequins and getting America’s comments on the street - I bet Bridget is SOOOO excited that her boyfriend, Cameron is back.

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas dance the Mambo - and Mark agrees that this week will be hard for Kristi. We see her in practice having issues with “shaking it” I just knew she was going to have a problem with this. Mark puts on a skirt and starts shakin’ it. It was hilarious. Kristi wants to shake her shyness and shake her booty - something tells me she won’t do that - she’ll be a little stiff. Her turns are excellent and she did shake her booty. I am quite shocked. Mark’s love, Sabrina Bryan, is in the audience cheering them on. I bet she has to hold herself back from running out there to dance with him.

Carrie Ann said it was boggling to imagine she hasn’t done this before - She said it was amazing. Len said Kristi’s done it again - fantastic. Bruno said fast, sharp, exuberant - you are right on it. She received all 9’s for 27 out of 30 and a grand total of 54 out of 60. She’s the highest scorer. Do I smell a win for Mark Ballas? Could a female win it this time? We can only hope.

Mario and Karina Smirnoff dance the Quickstep this week. Will he be able to keep up. Last week the judges complained of footwork - and tonight footwork will be of the essence. Mario and Karina practice on the beach and fall down. They are cute together. She dives off the stage into his arms. The crowd gasps. I’m not sure what she is wearing - once I figure it out I will let you know. He is rising and falling on his feet pretty well and his hold is pretty good. My fiance just said “I love that dress, it is hot, isn’t it?” Hmmm.. I guess we’ve figure out it is a dress, but what else is it, my darling fiance? LOL! Oops, Karina did a lift at the end - her foot came off the floor. Will the judges point that out? I actually liked the dance - pretty good.

Bruno said it was Mario and the Queen of Sheeba. It was energetic. It was fantastic. I think you could be a winner. Len said his footwork was pretty good most of the time, but his hold was a little weird. Len told him to work on the finesse - and told the crowd to shut up as they booed him. Carrie Ann said he is so charming on the dance floor - she said what he has is hot and Bruno piped in with “it’s bulging”..I hope he is referring to Mario’s bi-ceps. LOL!
He is way out of breath back stage. Carrie Ann and Bruno give him a 9 and Len an 8 for a 26 out of 30. His grand total is 50 out of 60.

Leader board after tonight:
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 27 out of 30
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 27 out of 30
Mario and Karina Smirnoff 26 out of 30
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough 24 out of 30
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez 24 out of 30
Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel 21 out of 30
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani 21 out of 30
Cristian de la Fuente and Chery Burke 20 out of 30
Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough 19 out of 30
Penn Jillette and Kym Johnson 17 out of 30
Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya 16 out of 30
Monica Seles and Jonathon Roberts 15 out of 30

Leaderboard after last week and this week:

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 54 out of 60
Mario and Karina Smirnoff 50 out of 60
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 49 out of 60
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez 46 out of 60
Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel 45 out of 60
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough 45 out of 60
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke 41 out of 60
Marissa Jaret Winokur and tony Dovolani 39 out of 60
Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya 34 out of 60
Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough 34 out of 60
Penn Jillette and Kym Johnson 33 out of 60
Monica Seles and Jonathon Roberts 30 out of 60

I must say that the first half of Dancing with the Stars was way below mediocre performances. I think we’ve been built up so high that it hard to watch such lower than low mediocre dancing. I will say that I can tell the Stars are trying very hard, but we have a lot more uncoordinated folks this time around. It makes for a very interesting competition so far.

I will have to say my favorite dance of the night was Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska followed by a close second with Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough. I’m anxious to read Bridget’s post though..what did ya think, Bridge?

I say bye bye Monica and Penn! :(

Dancing With The Stars Week 2

Get buckled in for a long night of ballroom! Let’s see who took last weeks highs (Krisiti Yamaguchi & Mario) and lows (Penn Jillette & Monica Seles) and turned up the volume. Let’s also see how many minutes it takes them to actually get down to the dancing!! Welcome Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris with the twins…on to the dancers. Cristian de la Fuente looks incredibly hot. Marisa Jaret Winokur looks like a hot pink disaster and Priscilla Presley brings out her inner animal in leopard print!! The gang will do the Mambo & the Quickstep tonight, I love the Quickstep. Ooh and Steve Guttenberg is going to kick it off, yay.

Steve and Anna Trebunskaya are going to do the Mambo. Anna brings in her mother who looks really fabulous, she could be Anna’s sister! Steve is his happy go lucky self, love him!! I hope he can do it as well as last week. They start off super cute, so happy! I love the costumes, Anna looks like a rainbow pop, in a good way. You can totally see Steve’s theatrical background in this, he is completely at home on stage, much more so than his competitors. Loved it, so cute and joyous, I just can’t get enough of it. Len compared it to his cooking he tries hard but he said it did not work for him. Bruno complained that his body, footwork, timing, and posture was bad, poor Steve! Carrie said his musicality was off but they looked cute. Steve said to the judges that he thanks them and he respects them, what a gentleman. Tom referred to Rachel Ray, whom I hate because she calls my boyfriend Helio, “Heeelio.” Big scores, a 6 from Carrie, and two 5’s from Len & Bruno for 16, my poor Steve. I loved it & I give him a 30.

Next up is Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke doing the Quickstep. Are we doing all the men first then all the ladies? Interesting. Cheryl gets onto Cristian about his posture, she said in the military they need to have good posture so she puts him in Navy uniform…whatever. They start out cute and look fabulous in black and red costumes. Cristian’s posture is better this week and they seem to be on beat, but the whole thing is a little bit frantic for my tastes. Carrie says the footwork needs to be sharpened. Len agreed with me that it had a little bit of wildness and lacked control. Bruno liked that it was fast, but said they needed to watch their footwork. The judges like Cristian, hot guys are good for ratings. Two 7’s and a 6 from Len for a total of 20, deserved I think.

Next up is Monica Seles and Jonathan Roberts, they show Monica crying after last weeks performance. This week they are doing the Mambo, Jonathan is working hard to make Monica look sexy, that is a very hard task! She looks like a sporty Celine Dion. Monica is all dressed in gold with a sexy haircut. They open with her strutting and attempting to be sexy, I’m sorry but it really does not work at all. Poor Monica is just so awkward and has no rhythm at all and she points her toes in when she dances. Yikes, she looks near tears in front of the judges. Bruno says she does not connect with the music and gets off the beat of the music. Carrie loved that she attacked it, but lacks form and technique. Len tries to be nice, but has technical problems. She dances like your drunken great aunt at your wedding & flirts that way too!! Three 5’s from the judges for a total of 15, no big shocker there. Samantha drags out the awkwardness of the low scores by interviewing poor Monica Seles, she attempts to be sunny.

Coming in fourth is my current least favorite dancer Penn Jillette with Kym Johnson doing the Quickstep. Kym puts Penn in a posture bar, Penn breaks a rail at the dance hall-that was actually funny. Magic man Jillette, cuts Kym in half, I hate magic. They start out with some Penn magic and acting instead of dancing. Kym looks beautiful. They do some Quickstepping around the stage that is clunky but not horrible, Penn’s posture is better but he is just so darn tall that it does not look right. Len says he thought he maintained his hold but that his feet are terrible. Bruno said the footwork was “really, really, really bad.” Carrie said she enjoyed watching it. Penn kept trying hard to be funny and then actually fell walking up the stairs which was actually funny!!Two 6’s and a 5 from Bruno. Kym is happy, Penn is annoying.

Next is the queen herself, Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel doing the Mambo. They show her working hard at practice, tough old cougar that she is. This music is kind of horrible, boring. The dance is cute, they are moving kind of slow but everything looks precise enough. I think Priscilla lost her footing somewhere in there. They do a cool move where she spins to the floor at the end. However, then Ms. Presley crawled toward the camera, it made me feel icky inside. Carrie liked her saucyness. Len & Bruno said it was a little too precise and needed a little grrr…Carrie said that she liked that they did not overdo it, crawling on the floor like a tiger is overdoing it!! Stuttering interview with Samantha. Three 7’s for a 21, not bad for the old gal.

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough are up next, Derek is wearing a silly hat. They are doing the quickstep, which apparently a challenge for Shannon who claims she has no stamina. She is wearing a pretty silver gray dress and Derek is in classic tails, the look great together. This is much better than last weeks performance. Shannon is picking up the dancers style and grace that she lacked in her first performance. The choreography is adorable, they even flirt with the judges table a little bit, very nice. Bruno loved it. Carrie loved it. Len also thought it was great and called it the best dance so far tonight. I agree, but that is not really saying much. Straight 8’s from the judges for a 24.

The next star is Jason Taylor with his partner Edyta Sliwinska doing the Mambo. Since Jason has proven that he has some skills Edyta is giving him difficult choreography that she wants to be sexy and hot. I think she has ulterior motives…I know I would! High hopes for this dance and already I can tell Jason will not disappoint. He is graceful and on point in every step, his hip action is amazing. It was hot, not as hot as I expected but hot nonetheless. Jason Taylor is all smiles, we may have our winner here. Len agrees with me and calls him a winner rather than a sinner. Bruno calls him a star and Carrie says she has a shot at being the winner too. I smell a perfect score coming. Nope, three 9’s for a total of 27. It won’t be long for that perfect 30, I’m sure.

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani are up next. They cut to her sobbing over how poorly she did last week. Tony tries to reassure her, the whole thing is contrived and silly. They are going to do the Quickstep, I bet it will be awful. She looks like a Pepto Bismol explosion. I’m not sure she is getting the footwork right, it looks more like she is just trying hard to keep up. It’s ok though, better than last week anyway. I don’t think it could have gotten worse than last week! Carrie says she is disappointed because their synchronization was off. Len said it was lovely and bubbly and an improvement from last week. Bruno agreed that she lost the footwork a few times. Marissa is all smiles now. Jimmy Kimmel in the house, long time no see Jimmy! The scores are straight 7’s and Marissa screams with delight. She’s so horribly giddy, it makes me want to vomit.

Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough are up next. I know his dancing probably won’t improve but I am looking forward to his humor. They are doing the Mambo, Adam says he is a 75%’r who is giving Julianne 90%, tee hee. Adam has no business dancing, make no mistake about it. However, this mambo is kind of decent for him. He got off the beat a little in the beginning but brought it back and the rest of the dance was very fun. Julianne wound up on the lap of Jimmy Kimmel. Bruno said Adam recreated the Mambo in a way he had not seen it before and did not want to see it again. Carrie said it was entertaining although it was not a Mambo. Len called it brilliant, then he went on to say that he was not looking for technique and rhythm, but it was entertaining. Two 6’s and a wild card 7 from Len, who must be doing shots under the judges table, for a total of 19. I hope he sticks around for a while, he is very funny.

Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez are up next. They give us an example of what Marlee can hear, I don’t know how she does it. They are doing the Quickstep and she starts of looking beautiful in turquoise. Marlee’s footwork is stunning, perfectly in sync with Fabian’s. This was an amazing performance by any standard forget about adding in the deaf factor. Another standing ovation. Len said he was impressed with the musicality although he did not like some of the non-traditional steps. Bruno said it was a little Mambo-ish but that Marlee is a real contender. Carrie said she also loved the musicality but she needs to work on her hold a little bit. Oh joy, Cameron Mathison will be on tomorrow, puke. Funny moment in the backstage interview as Samantha puts the mic to Marlee for an answer and she shoves it over to her interpreter!! Three 8’s for a 24, well deserved & it probably would have been better if the choreography had not been “mamboish.”

Ringer Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are up next. They are going to do the Mambo which Mark claims will be harder for Kristi who feigns girlish embarrassment over acting sexy. Kristi has certainly overcome her shyness, because this dance was pretty hot! I don’t think it was quite as great as last week but it was very good and precise. Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan cheering on Mark in the audience. All the judges love it and said it was perfect in every way, if that is so than maybe she will get that first prized 30 tonight. Three 9’s this time for another 27.

Mario and Karina Smirnoff are up next, trying to top last weeks hot performance. They will do the Quickstep, they go to the beach to practice, which is just an excuse to show some skin and make them look even more like a couple. I am not digging Mario’s costume of tails with the sleeves cut off and an ascot. They start out with Karina leaping into Mario’s arms and continue on to an amazing Quickstep. They are moving fast, but not at all frantic and he is keeping up with her fabulously. No shot of Mario Lopez cheering them on, I bet he can’t stand how hot they look! Bruno said he thought Mario could be a winner, Len critiqued his hold. Carrie called him charming and hot. Two 9’s and an 8 from Len for a total of 26, not bad at all.

My favorite tonight was Jason Taylor and Marlee Matlin. My least was Penn Jillette and Monica Seles. I think that Monica will go home tomorrow for sure and for the guys it will either be Penn or Adam Carolla.

It’s Ladies Night - Oh What a Night! Week 1 DWTS

All the men can relax tonight. Karina almost fell down the steps - oopsy. Marissa is all smiles and sooo darn cute. Priscilla looks nervous as can be going down the steps. Marlee is cute and all smiles - looks cool and calm. Monica is so darn tall. Shannon Elizabeth looks tomboyish a bit. Hmmm…it’s gonna be an interesting night! I have to add too that Edyta is gorgeous tonight! Oh boy Priscilla Presley looks like she is gonna hurl. As the cameras panned it looked like her lips said “Oh boy!” Hmmm. Of course we start off with a recap (just read our blogs from last night which is even better than a recap). We do get to see their confessions after their dances and Cheryl and Cristian’s was very cute.

OMG! Shannon Elizabeth sitting on the couch backstage - very risque’ outfit I must say. Dang girl! LOL! Len said tonight he is grumpy so the women will need to come out and wow us. Are we PMS’ing Len? Next week is the first ever double elimination, but it isn’t really since one should have went this week and one next week - so we’re all good. One woman and one man will go though which is a bit different.

Shannon Elizabeth is up first dancing the cha cha cha and just admitted she is a tomboy. Yep, if you read the first paragraph you’ll see I had that pegged. Derek Hough says this year he is coming back as a man (as opposed to being female? No, he said last season he was a boy - oh ok)! hehe! I bet he is lovin’ that he’s partnered with her. Shannon is having major issues in practice with her heels - she wears them everywhere to get used to them. Soooo funny. I am starting to like her - so funny and not your typical beautiful girl. She seems like a perfectionist for sure. My kind of girl. I’m excited…here we go of course after the break!!!

They dance to”Shut up and Drive”, but it is way slowed down. She looked stiff at the start, but not now. She’s a little sloppy with her shoulders - kind of like his first partner, Jennie Garth. It seemed a bit sloppy and perhaps I expected more from her. I don’t know. It was just ok for me.

Len thought it was a great start - high energy. Len complained about her hip action and to work on her legs - especially if she is wearing short dresses. Bruno called her sexy and had great extension - needs to point her feet and stretch her back. Carrie Ann said she has great energy and confidence, but agreed with Len on the legs and told her to work on her flexibility. Shannon went backstage and said she messed up a ton and wasn’t happy with it. Derek said he was happy with it. She got 7’s across the board for a total of 21 out of 30. Starting off better than then gents did that is for sure.

I’d like to take a moment while we are at commercial and say that based on this first dance - I believe the women have a chance to win it this year. I’m excited about that.

Monica Seles and Jonathon Roberts are up next. Monica is having issues with grace and elegance. She’s pessimistic about being stiff and boy is she EVER stiff and NOT graceful. She keeps mentioning where is the exit - hmmm…America just might give you one if you don’t get positive. They dance the foxtrot and she is all decked out in pink and looking nervous as ever. They dance to “Bubbly”. How come I know all the songs tonight and hardly any from last night - I had to look them up. She looks like Celine Dion and needs to increase the strength in her back and shoulders. She reminds me of Heather Mills - a little clumsy. Her turns sucked, but she is more graceful than practice. When they glide across the floor she really shines and she’s a good little actress. She’s super excited that it is over with and she looks pleased. It wasn’t as bad as I thought.

Bruno said “I love the fact that you set off a beautiful tone for the dance.” He told her to engage her core center and you will be light on the floor. Len loved the light romance and the story that was told - he thought it was elegant and gorgeous and agreed with Bruno about her core. Carrie Ann said it takes lots of confidence, but you went for it and had the emotional quality about it. She wants her to see that the movement is not so different than tennis. I love Monica’s hair - it is gorgeous up and rarely do I like hair that is in the up-do. Monica compared this to a prom and how she loved her dress. She received 3 5’s for a total of 15 out of 30. She’s tied with Adam Carolla. hehe!

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovaloni are up next. She is such a huge fan of Dancing with the Stars and wants to show that women of any size can go out and dance - we love you Marissa. She’s super excited to see Tony and loved him and Stacy. She’s got a great sense of humor and asked if he has danced with a short girl before. He said yes. Their practices are so hilarious - she is funny all the time and is full of energy. I love this girl - so far. She might annoy me later, but we’ll see. They dance the cha cha cha to “Low” ya know the boots with the fur song. hehe! She has got moves and is a great actress with her facial expressions - great smile. Nice hip action. She messed up a bit on the moves - it was obvious, but the crowd loved her and was on their feet. We see Ricki Lake in the audience cheering her on - hey that’s who she reminds me of. The men are on their feet too cheering her on. WOW! Good job!

Carrie Ann asked what was up with Tony’s pants - sequins! LOL! She loved Marissa’s style, but there wasn’t enough content for a cha cha. Bruno thought she was super peppy, but wanted to see more content. Len was bewitched by the performance, bothered by too much hip hop and was bewildered that Tony didn’t give her more to do. Hmmm. Let’s see the scores - I feel bad for Tony, but let’s see. She got 6’s across the board for a total of 18 out of 30. She is extremely happy for those scores and just had so much fun. She’s kind of manic and can’t stop talking. Bet Samantha won’t like her in future interviews b/c she is always trying to shut people up.

Guys reactions - Steve - girls are so great. Mario - we have a reason to be nervous. Adam - This by far is the best competition and Steve said it sucked off air. Cristian said Marissa is happier than Steve - finally. LOL! Jason is real happy for Monica. Penn says Marissa has him beat on the happy and puts on a straight face.

Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel are up next. For some reason I am very nervous for her. I just want her to do well. During their first meeting - Louis was intimidated and she told him up front she doesn’t want to be treated delicately. She’s also a perfectionist. I like that. An anonymous person - ok my Mom - keeps going on and on about how she doesn’t know how Priscilla will dance because she is always pushing her hair out of her face. Well it appears her hair is pulled back tonight.

Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel dance the foxtrot to “I’m feelin’ good” (I think). She glides nicely and I liked the choreography - nice job Louis. She needs to work on her spins. She did the death spiral excellently and receives a standing ‘O’. Wow, Priscilla. She is out of breath and looks relieved it is over.

Len said it was a proper foxtrot - it was beautiful and fluid, but watch the posture in hold. Bruno said this was a smokin’ hot foxtrot - I saw star quality - you played it well, but work on the shoulders. Carrie Ann said age is just a number - you were the queen of that dance number - so elegant. Lisa Marie was proudly clapping in the audience - guess she’s gotten over the fact that her mom is in this competition. She received 8’s across the board for a total of 24 out of 30. Samantha comments on Louis being back and BACK HE IS! We’re glad you’re back Louis.

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are up. Kristi is wondering about higher expectations on her. Kristi is use to the flat foot because of the skate - now she is on heels. She loves the process of learning something new and seems very positive unlike Monica Seles. She is very cute and positive - I already knew that though. They also dance the foxtrot (hmmm..why two foxtrots in a row?) Their foxtrot is fast, fluid and smooth. She is graceful as I knew she’d be and a good performer. Honestly I have no complaints at all about this performance. Let’s see if the judges agree and wow - love that ending - fast and complicated footwork. WOW!! Mario, I see, is scoping out the competition.

Bruno said “Absolutely WICKED”, timely, precision, you played it so beautifully, one of the best 1st performance rounds. Carrie Ann said you made it look so effortless - it was just beautiful. Len said the ice maiden has just melted my heart, couple of little things on the pivots, but you are a really talented ballroom dancer. Let’s wait until we get to the latin round before we judge her, shall we? Samantha asked her about having an advantage and Kristi didn’t think so since skating and dancing are different.

She received 9’s across the board for a total of 27 out of 30. She is so shocked - but we aren’t. That was a great 1st performance!

Marlee Matlin is dancing even though she can’t hear the music. That just gave me chills. She is wearing a device that will help her, but she won’t be hearing it like we would obviously. We see newcomer Fabian Sanchez - first season and with a deaf dancer - what a challenge. He was so excited - but then realized she can’t hear. Yeah my thoughts exactly. She admits she has rhythm and she uses her body to communicate. They do the cha cha cha. She wants to feel his A$$ and he lets her..LOL! Cute! They turn the music on to test how much she can hear - it was up loud and she couldn’t hear. She can sometimes hear the beat, but she is profoundly deaf, but she sleeps great. Cute! Fabian will be her music. I’m excited for her - you go girl. I have a few tears too - not sure why, but I’m just really proud of her for trying this.

She’s got a nice actress face on - really doing well on the performance. She kept up with the beat and was spot on - and when they motioned to get on your feet - everyone did in the audience. She looks thrilled and frankly I have tears in my eyes after that. I am in awe and amazement. WOW!

Carrie Ann said that was unbelievable and inspiring. We will be judging you by what we see on the dance floor - that was so fluid and with so much ease. Len said you did a very good job and agreed with Carrie Ann but watch the flinging of your arms. Bruno said it was unbelievable - the music is running through your blood - you hardly missed a beat. Very well done - I can’t believe it.

Samantha asked her how she did what she just did - and she said she just went with the beat of my heart and followed Fabian. She thanked him. She is doing this for her kids and “why not?” Life is short! Her scores were 7’s from Len and Carrie Ann and an 8 from Bruno - total of 23 out of 30.

Now that was inspiring. I’m very emotional right now and I just remembered reading that many deaf kids are lining up to take dance lessons because they are inspired by Marlee. See, anyone can do it - just takes effort and dedication.

Here’s the leaderboard:

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 27 out of 30

Priscilla Presley and Louis Van Amstel 24 out of 30

Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez 22 out of 30

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough 21 out of 30

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani 18 out of 30

Monica Seles and Jonathon Roberts 15 out of 30

My pick for best dance goes to Kristi Yamaguchi, but I’m choosing to highlight Priscilla because she surprised me and Kristi didn’t (I expected that out of Kristi). First to go - Adam Carolla and Monica Seles are my picks.

Update: I was posting this at about 1:30AM and was extremely tired - my mind has changed and I choose to highlight Marlee Matlin because she was inspiring, brought me to tears, and shocked the HELL out of me. So, Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez (dirty - LOL! Thanks Bridget) are the dance of the week! Woohoo - Go Marlee!

Dancing With The Stars Week 1 Part II

We get to see the ladies tonight, let’s see if Kristi Yamaguchi can out dance Jason Taylor and Mario from last night. I am still reeling from all of the fine males, including Mr. Steve Guttenberg, woo hoo!! Samantha Harris is wearing a lovely gray/blue dress, but her hair is in a funky weird bun lopped onto the back of her head, not the best look. I am a little disturbed that Monica Seles is wearing light pink, she looks uncomfortable, she is not the most feminine chick in the world so why would they put her in pink. Recap nation, Cheryl smooches Cristian who looks hot, I would smooch him too. Penn Jillette tries hard to be funny, this will get tiresome. Adam Carolla actually is funny, saying he will watch it on Tivo and give himself a 12. The judges chatter a little bit about the men, Len admits that he is grumpy tonight, uh oh bad news for the women. Samantha starts yammering on about something, I think she made a mistake in her ad libbing and there were a few moments of uncomfortable silence.

Shannon Elizabeth is kicking of the show tonight with Derek Hough who claims that last season he was a boy and now he is a man. I bet she is going to be very good, she says she is a tom boy which translates into athletic. There are way to many commercials here, it is 9:15 and no one has danced yet!! Ok, here we go. Shannon Elizabeth starts out a little rough, like she got confused about the start or something. It picked up some, but she actually does not have much rhythm, poor girl she looks kind of foolish. I guess it is ok, not even close to great, however she is very beautiful so she’ll get some votes for that no doubt. Len thinks it is a great start but that her legs were not exactly right, he also said he wanted her to keep the skirt short, wow Len! Same leg stuff with Bruno who called her a sexy manx or something. Carrie told her to work on her flexibility. Ooh, Helio in the house!!! Backstage Shannon said she messed up a ton, three 7’s for a total of 21, a little high if you asked me.

Monica Seles is second, they show her playing tennis in a dancing costume which is kind of weird. Her partner is Jonathan Roberts and they are doing the foxtrot, she seems to have no dancing skills at all and Jonathan looks rather nervous. I like that she calls herself idiot, I do that to when I am annoyed…with myself. The dance opens with Monica Seles sitting on the edge of the stage working hard to look feminine. I love this song they are dancing too, whatever it is called. Her shoulders are back so far that her face is pointed to the ceiling so all you can see is her chin, that can’t be good. I don’t think this is all bad though, she seems to have caught on to the dancing a little bit and the ending with him giving her the flower was cute. Ms. Seles looks like she is going to cry while she stands in front of the judges. Bruno said she went from Grace Kelly to Grace Adler and that she needs to work on her strengthening her core, Len agrees. Carrie liked how delicate she made it, I agree it was surprising coming from her. Ooh the Jonas Brothers will be on next week, my children will be so very excited. Monica is very sweet and grateful, she’ll be around for a while. She got three 5’s which is ridiculous, are you really telling me that Penn Jillette was better than her? I think not.

Marissa Jaret Winokur is next. I can already tell that her giddiness is going to annoy me, I’ll try to be fair. I think Marissa is a chubby female version of Christian, the winner of this season of Project Runway. Ms. Winokur is partnered with Tony Dovolani, she is a far cry from Jane Seymour for him! Marissa is a typical theatre dancer, everything is big and crazy which does not work for ballroom, yikes. They are doing the Cha Cha Cha and it starts out pretty cute and even a little hip hoppy. Marriss Jaret Winokur is having a blast, all smiles like she is loving every second of the dance-even the parts that are a little off. I really am enjoying watching them, she is like, giggling through the whole thing it is so cute!! The audience is on its’ feet. Carrie loves her style and energy but did not think there was enough content for the dance. Bruno does a quick impression that is hilarious, but agrees that it was missing the dance. Len complained about the hip hop and the lack of content and berated Tony for it, ouch. Three 6’s that Marisa actually jumped up and down over, yep her giddiness is wearing on me.

Tom Bergeron interviews the guys, Steve Guttenberg and Mario say the gals are great. Adam Carolla claims that Steve said it sucked off camera, I think I love him. Half shot of Helio in the corner.

Priscilla Presley is up next, the wife of the King, I hope she can make us proud. Louis Van Amstel is her partner, he says he is intimidated by her. I think I might be intimidated by how crazy her face looks from all the botox and facelifts…she is in danger of looking like the scary plastic surgery lady in the Enquirer. I give her props for telling Louis not to treat her delicately…we’ll see how it goes. They are doing the Foxtrot. I think it is going pretty well. Priscilla is naturally graceful and Louis has done some very nice choreography that works with her abilities. They do little spin that gets out of control for a spit second and the death spiral seemed a little too short but overall it was good. Standing ovation and lots of cheers from the crowd! Len said it was beautiful and proper, Bruno said Priscilla has star quality, and Carrie called her the queen of the dance floor. Way to go Mrs. Presley-who’s daughter Lisa Marie is watching from the audience, nice. I think Priscilla Presley and Samantha Harris went to the same school of public speaking…lots of studdering and jumbling. 24 points, yowsers, as it turns out Mrs. Presley is the dark horse.

Up next is Kristi Yamaguchi, I am ready for some great dancing from her. It is great to see Mark Ballas back after his too early exit last season. I guess Kristi has to work on feet action because she is not used to heels, sometimes I think they make up stuff for the celebs to have to work on, because minutes into this she looks great. They do the Foxtrot and it starts of with a dramatic dip, her posture is perfect. Kristi and Mark have chemistry and they look amazing together, she is teeny tiney. They are in perfect sync. No doubt about it Kristi is going to be the one to beat among the females this year. All the judges are amazed, even using words like perfection, Len even said she melted his heart. I bet she is going to get at least one 9 maybe even two. WOW THREE 9′S!!! I think this is a first for a premiere show, I would love it if a woman won this year and we might have our girl!

Tom Bergeron is hilarious, I love him.

They saved Marlee Matlin for the end, because everyone is watching for this and we all know it. The newest pro is Fabian Sanchez, let’s just say dirty together once right now and get it over with…tee hee I know we all feel better. Marlee asked to feel Fabian’s bum and he allowed it. Marlee Matlin made a funny deaf joke about sleeping great, very funny. Marlee and Fabian are doing the Cha Cha Cha, I am very excited about this and the number of commercials in this show makes me want to throw something at the television! I hope she is good. Marlee Matlin is doing great, I’m getting a little weepy watching this and just thinking that all the joy on her face is coming without the help of hearing the song, this is amazing. Wow, wow, wow, that was a moment in television history, I think her interpretor is crying. Standing O, of course. Carrie clarifies that they will be judging her fairly and that she moved very well. Len said it was great but to watch her arms. Bruno said he counted all the way through and that she hardly missed a beat, incredible. Two 7’s and a much deserved 8 from Bruno.

So my pick for the best dancer was easily Kristi Yamaguchi, but my favorite was Marlee Matlin, followed closely by Priscilla Presley. I think I might cry every time Marlee dances and if Priscilla dances to any Elvis my beloved might be brought to tears, what a mess!!

Welcome back to me, I am so very glad that Alyssa invited me back to chat about my favorite reality show.I have a jug of wine and my laptop, let’s get this party started! I know you are all wondering so I’ll tell you now, that I had a mad crush on Steve Guttenberg, when I was VERY YOUNG when he was in Three Men & a Baby so I’ll be rooting for him. However, that being said I doubt he will be a stand out dancer so I’m hoping he has a great personality that will count for something, maybe he will be the Marie Osmond of this season. Otherwise, I’m waiting to see the gang strut their stuff tonight before I make and true predictions, although with ringers like Kristi Yamaguchi and Mario in the mix I expect some early favorites.

Ahhh to see the mirror ball trophy again….and to hear Tom’s voice, it has been too long! The men are on tonight, so I get to see if Steve Guttenberg has what it takes right off the bat, yay. Wow Samantha Harris is wearing quite a dress, I guess the is channeling Audrey Hepburn tonight. Her knockers are back to their normal size, that will make her a bit less distracting. Big group number to start the show, I hate these so let’s check out the audience. There’s Jane Seymour. OK, no other celeb sightings, because the cameras are focused on the dance. Since I have to watch, it is pretty great. It is very fun to watch the pro’s dance, they really are fabulous. Contestant parade and Priscilla Presley looks uncomfortable, poor thing.

Up first is Penn Jillette. I watched some TV thing once that said he was kind of kinky, I wonder if that side of him will show in ballroom. I love Kym Johnson, but my husband just commented that she always gets stuck with the worst partners, I have to agree. Penn is funny and self deprecating, I like that. Dancing the Cha Cha Cha, cheesy opening with a boa, I hope he is not going to be another Jerry Springer. Wow, Mr. Teller can sure thrust those hips!! He is all about the crazy facial expressions, I wonder if Kym coaches this. Loved the magic trick at the end, but otherwise it was pretty silly and Penn does not have much rhythm. Not that I am surprised here, but I am beginning to wonder if Kym is just not a great choreographer. Len say it was fun and entertaining and commented on the hip movement, I concur Len. Bruno called “Shrek does Cha Cha Cha and like watching replacement hip action” yikes. Carrie does her Paula Abdul, nice (but sober) critique. Backstage with Samantha, Penn tries a little too hard to be funny. 16 points, not a great score but one that was deserved. Is it possible there is a guy worse than him?

Jason Taylor is up next, these NFL guys are often surprising I bet he will be kind of good. Is he a current football player or his he retired? I guess he is current, that’s new isn’t it? I wonder if Edyta owns anything other than hot pants. It’s funny that Jason complained about the dancing being feminine while he was wearing a t-shirt with sequins on it. I see he channels My Fair Lady by dancing with a bottle of water on his head, nice. They are doing the Foxtrot. Jason has the DWTS posture down perfect, he’ll get judges kudos for that. Um, yeah he is really good, maybe a bit stiff but that will pass. He also needs to not mouth the words to the song, but otherwise there is not a lot to complain about. Wow, really impressive, I smell the women getting nervous!! Sound flub, these pesky live shows. Yep, Len loved the posture and the elegance, but wanted Jason to act the part a bit more. Love from Carrie, especially his hands? Bruno is also looking for more heat, I doubt that will be a problem for Mr. Jason Taylor. Scores, two 7’s and an 8 from Len for a total of 22…nice.

Lots of sound problems. I have worked extensively in theatre and I can tell you that sound is very complex, no one but the sound guys understand it and it can get messed up very easily. Cristian de la Fuente is up next. I think I could fall for this guy, don’t be jealous Helio Castroneves, you are still my favorite. I really think this guy is going to be good and with Cheryl as a partner it should be no problem. Christian and Cheryl are also doing th Cha Cha Cha. Christian de la Fuente looks a bit nervous, but he is doing pretty good. Not quite as elegant as Jason Taylor, but so very hot…he’ll get voted back in on looks alone. This dance is really missing something for me, maybe chemistry between Christian and Cheryl? Carrie Anne Inaba complains about his shoulders as does Bruno, yes that was part of the problem now that they mention it. These judges are no slouches, Len complains about the posture too-what would we do without these guys? Three 7’s for a 21, not bad considering the schlumpy shoulders.

I am very excited top see if Adam Carolla can dance, could he be a dark horse? Oooh, my boyfriend, Helio Castroneves who says he thinks Julianne can do for Adam Carolla what he did for him, we̵
