Welcome back to me, I am so very glad that Alyssa invited me back to chat about my favorite reality show.I have a jug of wine and my laptop, let’s get this party started! I know you are all wondering so I’ll tell you now, that I had a mad crush on Steve Guttenberg, when I was VERY YOUNG when he was in Three Men & a Baby so I’ll be rooting for him. However, that being said I doubt he will be a stand out dancer so I’m hoping he has a great personality that will count for something, maybe he will be the Marie Osmond of this season. Otherwise, I’m waiting to see the gang strut their stuff tonight before I make and true predictions, although with ringers like Kristi Yamaguchi and Mario in the mix I expect some early favorites.

Ahhh to see the mirror ball trophy again….and to hear Tom’s voice, it has been too long! The men are on tonight, so I get to see if Steve Guttenberg has what it takes right off the bat, yay. Wow Samantha Harris is wearing quite a dress, I guess the is channeling Audrey Hepburn tonight. Her knockers are back to their normal size, that will make her a bit less distracting. Big group number to start the show, I hate these so let’s check out the audience. There’s Jane Seymour. OK, no other celeb sightings, because the cameras are focused on the dance. Since I have to watch, it is pretty great. It is very fun to watch the pro’s dance, they really are fabulous. Contestant parade and Priscilla Presley looks uncomfortable, poor thing.

Up first is Penn Jillette. I watched some TV thing once that said he was kind of kinky, I wonder if that side of him will show in ballroom. I love Kym Johnson, but my husband just commented that she always gets stuck with the worst partners, I have to agree. Penn is funny and self deprecating, I like that. Dancing the Cha Cha Cha, cheesy opening with a boa, I hope he is not going to be another Jerry Springer. Wow, Mr. Teller can sure thrust those hips!! He is all about the crazy facial expressions, I wonder if Kym coaches this. Loved the magic trick at the end, but otherwise it was pretty silly and Penn does not have much rhythm. Not that I am surprised here, but I am beginning to wonder if Kym is just not a great choreographer. Len say it was fun and entertaining and commented on the hip movement, I concur Len. Bruno called “Shrek does Cha Cha Cha and like watching replacement hip action” yikes. Carrie does her Paula Abdul, nice (but sober) critique. Backstage with Samantha, Penn tries a little too hard to be funny. 16 points, not a great score but one that was deserved. Is it possible there is a guy worse than him?

Jason Taylor is up next, these NFL guys are often surprising I bet he will be kind of good. Is he a current football player or his he retired? I guess he is current, that’s new isn’t it? I wonder if Edyta owns anything other than hot pants. It’s funny that Jason complained about the dancing being feminine while he was wearing a t-shirt with sequins on it. I see he channels My Fair Lady by dancing with a bottle of water on his head, nice. They are doing the Foxtrot. Jason has the DWTS posture down perfect, he’ll get judges kudos for that. Um, yeah he is really good, maybe a bit stiff but that will pass. He also needs to not mouth the words to the song, but otherwise there is not a lot to complain about. Wow, really impressive, I smell the women getting nervous!! Sound flub, these pesky live shows. Yep, Len loved the posture and the elegance, but wanted Jason to act the part a bit more. Love from Carrie, especially his hands? Bruno is also looking for more heat, I doubt that will be a problem for Mr. Jason Taylor. Scores, two 7’s and an 8 from Len for a total of 22…nice.

Lots of sound problems. I have worked extensively in theatre and I can tell you that sound is very complex, no one but the sound guys understand it and it can get messed up very easily. Cristian de la Fuente is up next. I think I could fall for this guy, don’t be jealous Helio Castroneves, you are still my favorite. I really think this guy is going to be good and with Cheryl as a partner it should be no problem. Christian and Cheryl are also doing th Cha Cha Cha. Christian de la Fuente looks a bit nervous, but he is doing pretty good. Not quite as elegant as Jason Taylor, but so very hot…he’ll get voted back in on looks alone. This dance is really missing something for me, maybe chemistry between Christian and Cheryl? Carrie Anne Inaba complains about his shoulders as does Bruno, yes that was part of the problem now that they mention it. These judges are no slouches, Len complains about the posture too-what would we do without these guys? Three 7’s for a 21, not bad considering the schlumpy shoulders.

I am very excited top see if Adam Carolla can dance, could he be a dark horse? Oooh, my boyfriend, Helio Castroneves who says he thinks Julianne can do for Adam Carolla what he did for him, we’ll see. Julianne Hough is her usual cute self. Adam is really very funny, I don’t know how they can get anything done. They are doing the Foxtrot, tough stuff for a funny guy like Adam. I think Julianne in yellow is very reminiscent of her yellow dance with Helio, that everyone loved-good call. Adam is a little stiff and clunky, but not bad. He is really trying and I think it is very cute. No, I don’t think this is too terrible, at least he is trying to do some real dancing and not just dance facing like Penn Jillette. Bruno calls his dance Will Ferrell instead of George Clooney, Len says Julianne has her work cut out for her but complimented Adam’s footwork. Carrie gives some weird comments that involve noises and weird faces and ended with a keep working…whatever that means. Three 5’s for a total of 15, not bad but I think he deserved better than Penn Jillette! Right?!?!

Next up is Mario, who I have never heard of but my guess is he will be pretty good. Karina Smirnoff flexes and kisses her muscle, I bet she learned that from Mario Lopez. Karina had neck surgery in the middle of rehearsals, yikes. Ballroom is hard on the bod. Oooh, Mario is very smooth. They look great together, like one hot couple!! The rumors are going to fly over these two!! Did she and Mario Lopez break up? Carrie loved it, Len said he needs to work on heel leads. Bruno commented also on the footwork, it will be fun to watch him improve over the coming weeks. Three 8’s for a 24, which Samantha Harris flubbed up- I know you are loving that Alyssa.

Gratuitous shot of Marlee Matlin’s translator signing the show to her. Even if the shot was staged I love that she is competing…I bet she will be great.

Bringing up the rear is my Steve Guttenberg, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Steve is partnered with Anna Trebunskaya, she has some work to do with Mr. Guttenberg. They are doing the Foxtrot, I really don’t want Steve Guttenberg to be the first to go home! Cute, not bad to start out with. He’s no Jason Taylor, but he is actually kind of good! Even my husband liked the little leap they did in the beginning. He is better than I expected, again with the lip syncing but pretty good!! Standing ovation from some in the crowd, WOW!! Bruno said it started out as the Billy Ray academy of dance, but liked it anyway. Carrie liked it as did Len, so did Bridget!! I am pleasantly surprised!!! Three 6’s!! Steve was robbed, he deserved at least one 7! Mr. Guttenberg is so nice and grateful backstage and talked about his parents 50 year anniversary, Samantha cut him off…what a bag.

We cap off the show with some interviews and trash talk from the females. I am looking forward to seeing them all perform tomorrow. They are doing an excellent job of acting like best friends. In first place is Mario & Karina and in last place are Penn & Kym and Adam & Julianne My favorite was Steve Guttenberg, however the best dance of the night has to go to Jason Taylor and the worst to Penn Jillette. No predictions on who will be out until next week, but Penn should be worried.
