Week eight, two dances, time to separate the men from the boys.  Is Brooke Burke the only female left?  I don’t think she has the star power to pull out a win here, the dancing chops- yes, but the star power-no.

Oh my Gosh, Oh my Gosh, Samantha Harris has the worst hair ever.  She looks like she should be on Star Trek the next generation.  Someone in the hair department totally hates her.  It is great.  She looks like ridiculous, I love it.

Cody Linley and Edyta Sliwinska look great in 40’s type costumes.  Lance Bass & Lacey Schwimmer look uncomfortable and silly.  Kym Johnson is boobilicious again and Warren Sapp is in a glitter covered tuxedo, ugh. The celebs each have to do a 15 second solo in the Latin round, that should be entertaining.

Cody Linley and Edyta Sliwinska dance first.  Stress over the solo for him.  Some geeks from the Disney Channel (I assume) show up.  I wonder if they were contractually obligated to do this.  They are going to do the Foxtrot.  I’m sure there will be lots of Edyta’s legs flailing about.  They start out looking decent enough.  Cody is a little stiff in both his posture and his holds but I think for this dance he can get away with it.  Random weird Edyta pose at the end, I hate that.  Len said he was pleasantly surprised.  Bruno called it Cody’s most grown up performance to date.  Carrie also loved it, but called Edyta out for an imaginary lift.  Three 8’s for a 24, that’s acceptable.  Samantha tries to kill some time at the end, she is terrible.

Dancing second are Brooke Burke and Derek Hough.  They show some backstage footage of Derek acting douche-y, I’m sure they had plenty to choose from.  They are going to Tango.  I think this looks OK, probably technically perfect, but Brooke is tentative.  Bruno loved it calling it stunning.  Carrie said it was pitch perfect.  Len called them out saying it was riddled with mistakes, I agree with Len on this one.   Two 10’s and an 8 from Len.  I’m thinking 9’s would have been appropriate.

Maurice Greene and Cheryl Burke are dancing third.  This week they are doing the Paso Doble and the Quickstep.   The Quickstep is up first.  Cheryl’s dress is gross, pink and burgundy, ick.  The Quickstep is always cute, and this is that, but great it is not.  Cheryl does a cartwheel at the end, I could have done without it.  Carrie loved it, saying it looked refined.  Len said the footwork and posture was great.  Bruno also gave it sugar.  Three 8’s.

Fourth to dance are Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer.  Their first dance is the Foxtrot.  Lance has a silly look on his face.  I like this Foxtrot very much.  It is sweet and, aside from the dumb look on Lance’s face, it really looked great.  Len said overall it was very good.  Bruno also enjoyed it.  Carrie said Lance was animated, umm yeah you could call that crazy look animated.  I spaced out during the interview but snapped back in time to hear Samantha say something about firing off…what?  Two 9’s and an 8 from Len, swell.

Crazy Eyes and Boobs McGee are up last for this round.  That’s Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson for those new to my blog.  Their first dance is the Tango, I love this song they are doing it to, does anyone know the title of it?  I love it.  Intense, fabulous.  Love it!  Standing ovation, nice.  All the judges loved it, no surprises there.  A 10 from Carrie and 9’s from the guys.

Samantha Harris has way too much time to kill…geez.

First up in the Latin round are Cody Linley and Edyta Sliwinska.  I swear she has worn that same costume before.  They are doing the Mambo.  There is some great choreography in this dance.  Cody’s solo is dumb, but that is to be expected.  He finishes the dance laying across the judges table, nice shtick.  Carrie said it was a little disjointed.  Len said he hoped Warren did not do the same ending, HA!  Bruno thought it went a little “spasmodic” at times.  OK, one funny moment for Samantha Harris, she asked Cody if a year ago he could have imagined dancing on TV with a half naked woman, he answered, well, I may have imagined it but I did not expect it.  Tee hee!  Three 8’s.

Brooke Burke and Derek Hough start out with the Mambo, the judges are in awe in the first five seconds and they are not wrong.  Brooke’s footwork is amazing.  I could do without the wig, and she is clearly having issues with it.  Perfect Mambo though, I can’t imagine the judges have anything negative to say.  Len called it ambitious and overall fantastic.  Bruno said it was so exuberant that it could wake the dead.  Carrie thought it got a little frantic at times.  I seriously think sometimes I am watching a different show than her.  Three 9’s, not bad but I think at least one 10 would have been acceptable.

Maurice Greene and Cheryl Burke do the Paso Doble next.  They start with Maurice dragging Cheryl across the stage.  There is some fabric draped across the judges table that they pick up and Maurice uses it in his solo.  Yeah, that solo did not contain any dancing, just Maurice twirling around the fabric with a strobe light.  This was not very good at all.  Bruno called it strong and imposing.  Carrie said something that was dumb.  Len said well done. Three 8’s again.  Tom is rushing through these dances, I love it.

Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer are dancing the Samba next.  Lance Bass does his solo at the top of the dance.  It is decent, mildly entertaining.  I usually love the Latin dances, but I am very bored tonight.  Even Lance and Lacey are slightly boring.  Maybe it is this miserable song they are dancing to or the fact that Lacey is wearing a feather tutu, who’s dumb idea was that?  Carrie called Lance out for looking up when he did his solo, Tom said he was looking at the balcony, I love Tom.  Len also did not like the solo.  Bruno liked it and gave them credit for their degree of difficulty. Ooh, Lacey Schwimmer is going to dance with her brother Benji from So You Think You Can Dance tomorrow, I know Alyssa is excited.  Carrie gave them an 8, Len a 7, and Bruno a 9.

Bringing up the rear are Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson doing the Jive.  Adorable!!  Warren’s solo, is actually a solo and he is great, a scene stealer.  Love it, love every second of it.  If they don’t get a perfect score for this I will be stunned.  Len said it was joyful other than Warren’s feet.  What is he talking about?  Bruno agreed that the feet were flat, but loved it.  Carrie also agreed on this foot business, but loved all the rest.  Who cares about his feet?  This was the most entertaining dance of the evening.  Two 9’s and an 8 from Len, 10 from Bridget.

I think Cody Linley and Maurice Greene are in trouble, probably Cody.  My favorite dance was Warren Sapp’s Jive.  Brad Paisley performs tomorrow, exciting.
