Alyssa’s Take:
Tonight was the night of Jives and Tangos. I was anxious to see if Samantha Harris was back from maternity leave, but nope, we’ve still got Drew. I must admit I like seeing Drew every week. Perhaps they will keep Drew and have a threesome host the show. Here’s to hoping.

Sabrina Bryan started off the night with a upbeat jive. She wanted it to be spectacular, but I don’t know if it was AS spectacular as past dances. Certainly she was great, but I’d really like to see her raising the bar every single week. Was it the choreography? Perhaps. I think she had a gut feeling during the practices and she should have went with her gut. Overall the dance was fun and the kicking was awesome. She did do great. Next week I want to see TOTAL GREATNESS! Her scores were 9’s across the board for a total of 27 out of 30.

Cameron and Edyta danced the tango. Last week Bruno told him he looked like Superman, but danced like Clark Kent so he came out dressed as Clark Kent tonight which was really cute because he played the part well even AFTER he took his glasses off. Don’t get me wrong, the tango was danced much better than his previous dances, but it wasn’t gutsy enough. Carrie Ann was right on when she said it was “too G-Rated”. Right on Sista! It was. Cameron is really going to have to pull some tricks out of his hat if he will remain in the competition. His scores were two 8’s from Bruno and Carrie Ann and a 7 from Len for a total of 23 out of 30.

Mark Cuban and Kym Johnson were 3rd to dance. They danced the jive and *yawn* it was a bit boring. It wasn’t fast enough. The kicks weren’t high enough and Mark lost his place and got off beat. The good thing about it, he knew it. You could read it on his face when he finished. That’s a sign of a dancer. He’s getting there, but really he just is not up to par with some of the greats. I even think Cameron Mathison will also go further than Mark. We’ll see. AND as I was fastfowarding my tivo to get his scores I saw more Mark Cuban tongue action. I missed that the first time, but yep, it was there clear as day. He needs to get control of that tongue and again his facials were a bit awkward. His scores were two 7’s from Bruno and Len and a 6 from Carrie Ann for a total of 20 out of 30.

Jennie and Derek were seen falling again. Did they have to show it again? Of course..it’s called DRAMA with a capital D. Derek keeps saying he lifted his leg up and tripped on her dress. We can see that, yes. But it did look like Jennie swung out to hard..was that her fault or Dereks? We don’t know. Did you get a better answer Bridget? hmmm. She took the blame and said it was all her fault. Derek came back and said “Nooooo!” All I know is they need to stop torturing this girl with showing the fall..she did dance well before the fall, ya know. During the practice we see them venting their frustrations. It looks as if the tango will be their dance. And it was. Although Jennie does something weird with her upper half. Her shoulders look like wobbly mush sometimes. Other than that, the passion and the rigidity of this dance was very well seen. She got a standing ovation from Carrie Ann and Bruno said she “danced like a fury.” She had some awesome high kicks and should earn the most improved award over last week. Her score was a 26 out of 30 getting two 9’s from Carrie Ann and Bruno and an 8 from Len.

Melanie Brown danced the jive this week. Last week I thought Maks was playing it safe. Will he play it safe this week or take some risks? Hmmm… He did take risks tonight, but I don’t think Mel B. was up for the challenge. She looked a little weird in those heels jumping around like that. I probably would too, so for that I give her props. The judges had nothing but good things to say, but they left out how awkward she looked. I loved how Maks and Mel did those turns at the end with the complicated arm movements. That looked cool. In comparing Sabrina with Mel B., I just felt Sabrina looked more comfortable than Mel did. She still did well, as the jive is a hard dance to do let alone do it in heels like that. Her scores were 9’s across the board for a total of 27 out of 30. Maks did take his shirt off tonight after an open invitation from Drew. Hmm..first Cameron’s hips and now Maks shirt being off. What else is Drew going to get himself into and why does it always involve men?

Wayne and Cheryl danced the tango. They practiced on Wayne’s ranch and all I could think about was “Watch out for the manure!” So, they start off and I was immediately distracted by the Steven Siegalesque pony tail that Wayne was sportin’. Why? And the fan prop? Well, there was just too much focus on it. I know it was probably a fight for the fan and all to add to the whole drama of the dance, but it just wasn’t working when it was in Wayne’s hand. When he tried to fan her I almost burst out laughing because it looked as if he was going to drop it. He did seem to stay in character, but he seemed off balance. Carrie Ann commented on how she liked his character, but she felt as if Cheryl was leading him. Len loved the mood, but felt like too much time was spent on the character and the dance disappeared. His scores were 6’s across the board for a total of 18 which is an obvious improvement over last week. During Drew’s interview with Wayne and Cheryl he had on a fake moustache that looked like it belonged on an Asian Samurai because it was one of those long moustaches. Cheryl couldn’t help but pull it off him. They are like brother and sister. It’s cute. See, we couldn’t get that if Samatha was the one interviewing, now could we? No sir.

Next up Floyd Mayweather and the jive. Of course the master of the jumprope had to show off his skills with it. He had some moments, but there wasn’t enough kicks for my taste for a good jive. Len said it had the right elements, it was fun and energetic, but he needed to practice in the proper dance shoes because toe point was missing. Carrie Ann said the energy was a knock out, but there was a lack of structure with the jive and to focus on the details. Bruno said he needed to polish his technique and to control his feet. He goes backstage with Drew and he promoted his upcoming fight. Nice plugs there, Floyd. His scores were 7’s across the board for a total of 21 out of 30.

Jane Seymour danced the tango. The interview package was about Jane’s mom and it was a tear jerker for sure. Tony traveled to England and she attended the funeral and immediately started practicing. What a lady!! Her hold was superb. I think we see the main difference between Jane and Jennie in their top half. Jane holds it strong while Jennie lets hers wobble. With Jane being an actress, it really helped her here with facial expressions. She did superb. The judges had nothing but nice things to say. Len said “that could have been on pay-per-view.” Carrie Ann got emotional and said “every moment was a beautiful picture.” Jane’s scores were 9’s across the board for a total of 27 out of 30. It seems as if 27 is the new 21. Who else can score a 27 tonight?

Helio and Julianne danced the jive. Goody, I was looking forward to him dancing this dance and here we are. He was awesome dancing this. He had nice kicks. It was fun. The smile never left his face. Some parts were a little stiff though with his arms, but I’m sure that can be fixed. At the end we got to see a little g-string action as they slid and Julianne’s skirt went down. As she got up, yep, there it was. They got a good laugh out of it as did we. He limped to the judges and we see his torn pants and a bloody knee. Wow!! Carrie Ann said there are brilliant moments and moments where he is caved in. Bruno said he wasn’t as clean and precise as he normally is. Len states he has a sparkling personality, but he messed up some kick-ball-chains (?) in the corner, but overall good performance. Did they not see he got a bloody knee and torn pants? LOL! His scores were 8’s across the board for a total of 24 out of 30. This being the 3rd week, I’ve noticed every week that Helio never looks at the scores. He is always looking down. How cute is that?

Marie Osmond danced the tango and can I say that the tango and Marie Osmond in one sentence seems to fit together like two birds of a feather? Why yes I can say that and I will. It so suits the drama queen she is. And Jonathon confirmed that at the beginning of their practice. LOL! She looked very light on her feet tonight and yeah, her drama queen did come out for sure. Her carriage (upper body) did seem a bit flimsy and her personality didn’t shine through as much tonight, but overall she did good, not great, just good. The judges thought she looked like Lucille Ball (from Carrie Ann) and yep, I totally agree. Len commented on what I said about her carriage although he said she needs to keep her rib cage up. My sentiments exactly. And Bruno said it was the “Meryl Streep of Dance.” Her scores were two 9’s from Carrie Ann and Bruno and an 8 from Len for a total of 26 out of 30.
Still no 10’s have been awarded this season and no perfect score obviously. Who will get the first 10 this season? Hmmm..I bet it will be either Helio or Sabrina. At least I’m hoping. Can’t you tell they are my faves? If not, they are.
Here’s the leaderboard:
Sabrina and Mark 27 out of 30
Mel B. and Maks 27 out of 30
Jane and Tony 27 out of 30
Jennie and Derek 26 out of 30
Marie and Jonathon 26 out of 30
Helio and Juliane 24 out of 30
Cameron and Edyta 23 out of 30
Floyd and Karina 21 out of 30
Mark and Kym 20 out of 30
Wayne and Cheryl 18 out of 30
Tomorrow’s results show will jammed pack full of stars from Seal to Hannah Montana, her dad Billy Ray and another Montana I’m not sure who that is? All I know is Hannah Montana and Billy Ray. Frankly, I’m tired of hearing about Hannah Montana. This nation is CRAZED I tell ya. I am looking forward to seeing Billy Ray again and I’m always a fan of Seal. So, who will get the boot? My guess it will be between Wayne and Mark. I feel like in the end, people were too distracted by that Steven Siegal pony tail to see any type of dancing from Wayne. Sorry Wayne, but me thinks you are outta here, buddy!
