Josie Maran and Alec Mazo

Model, Josie Maran is best known for her appearance in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. She’s also graced the cover of Glamour. She’s been featured on ad campaigns for Guess  and Maybelline and appeared in such films as The Aviator and Van Helsing. Josie is also an entreprenuer in which she has her own line of cosmetics called Josie Maran Cosmetics. The cosmetic line is eco friendly which goes hand in hand with her environmental interests.  She’s a member of Global Green and works with Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, as well as Teens for Safe Cosmetics.

American, Alec Mazo’s speciality is Latin and currently he is not competing professionally. He’s been dancing since the age of 5. At 12, he moved from Russia to the US with his family. Dancing must run in the family, as Alec’s Mom ran a dance studio. He runs two dance studios, one in the San Francisco Bay Area and the other in Los Angeles. Alec started competing professionally with his now wife, Edyta Sliwinska in 2005 after conquering the amateur Latin scene. Alec has also studied acting and has appeared in Vanessa Williams’ movie entitled Dance With Me. An interesting fact about Alec is that he has a Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science from UC Berkeley.

Alec won the first season of Dancing with the Stars with actress Kelly Monaco. He was eliminated in round 1 in season 4 partnering with unknown Paulina Porzkova.
