Dancing with the Stars Spinoff?

I’m not for certain, but I think I read some place that the show on the Lifetime Channel called Your Mama Don’t Dance was a spinoff of Dancing with the Stars. I don’t know if that was truth or rumor so I will just say - yes it is a spinoff. How ya like me now? LOL!

Anyways, I was flipping through the channels and saw that it was on so I just tuned in. Ian Ziering (DWTS alum) is the host and the jist of the show is that professional dancers (No, not the DWTS dancers - sorry) are paired with their parent in a dance routine. Right now the girl dancers are paired with their dads. I just watched one pair and it was quite humorous. Kudos to the dad for trying really hard.

The judges on the show are Vitamin C, Cris Judd (JLo’s Ex), and Ben Vereen (Broadway Musicals). Nice that they are staying with the 3 judge format. The judges critique and then give them their score which consists of 25 points for each category Technical Skill, Artistic, Overall Performance/Showmanship, Improvement.  I noticed that the judges are very lenient in their comments. There’s no Simon Cowell on the show being brutally honest.

Technical skills are really lacking on this show on the part of the parents. Imagine watching a Wayne Newton, a Kenny Mayne, or a Masta’ P because that is what this show is like. If it weren’t for the relationships I would probably change the channel.

This is a feel good show and really highlights the relationships between the dancers and their parent. I say parent because this week it is the daughters and their dads. I’m assuming by the title of the show that the guys will have their mama’s be their partners at some point and I’m not sure if the Mom’s and daughter’s will be dancing together and same with Father’s and Son’s. I don’t understand the format quite yet and don’t know if the dancers will be the same from one show to the next. I guess I should get some background info about it, but frankly, I’m too lazy to go search. If anyone has a clue and watches this show - please post a comment.

I’m not sure what the times for this show are, but I found it on from midnight to 1am on the Lifetime Channel. And apparently America will vote to keep the dancer/parent pair in. Hmmm..not sure how many people will be voting at midnight-1AM. I definitely won’t be.
