Melanie Brown and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Melanie Brown aka Mel B. is best known as singer, Scary Spice,  in the popular British Pop Girl Group, The Spice Girls. The Spice Girls sold 55 million records worldwide. Melanie went out on her own and released 2 solo albums: Hot and LA State of Mind. On break from recording from 2001-2004 she appeared on Broadway as “Mimi” in Rent. She also performed in London in Vagina Monologues. On Dec. 2, 2007, the Spice Girls will reunite with a worldwide tour.

Melanie is married to longtime friend and movie producer Stephen Belafonte. She has 2 daughters.

Russian Maksim was introduced to dance at an early age when his parents brought him to a local ballroom dance school in Odessa, Ukraine. Maks has had some tragedy in his life when he was involved in a skiing accident which nearly ripped his leg off. After many sugeries and a 12 inch metal rod inserted in his leg, Maks had a long road to recovery. The doctors thought he’d never walk again without a limp, let alone dance. After many grueling months of physical therapy Maks was back to his old self and established himself as a top dancer in Ukraine.

In 1994, Maks and his family moved to Brooklyn, NY to live out the American Dream. Maks focused on his dancing and emerged as one of the best dancers in the world. He opened the Rising Stars Dance Academy which caters to teaching youth ballroom dancing. Maksim has his own production company called “Maksim Chmerkovskiy Productions,” which organizes performances all over the world.

Maksim’s Accomplishments:
